  1. No matter what happens this weekend and the rest of the season. The darkest hour is just before dawn. We will get the right people and leaders in position to turn this ship around. I have so much confidence. 1) Harvey Pearlman is gone. 2) Eichorst is not making the inevitable coaching hire. 3) Our native son is coming home. 4) We are NEBRASKA. I think what made Nebraska so special was that the football team emulated and embodied the character of the people of Nebraska: tremendous work ethic, blue collar, self effacing, confident, yet humble. A People who make sacrifices for the betterment of the whole community. Descendants of homesteaders and farmers. We can't help it, it is in our DNA. These are all traits that are missing from the current team. Something Callahan, and Bo refused to embrace. It is as if it was not cool to be Nebraska anymore. Well maybe it isn't cool, but Nebraskans get the job done, and they don't bi&ch about it. they put their heads down and go with 100% effort. Frost is a Nebraskan, he cannot fail. A good argument can be made that Scott is so successful because of his Nebraska upbringing and character. Frost embodies the characteristic that most Nebraskans have. His teams feed of that. I saw the UCF pregame locker room video. Frost came in the locker room, looked around at his players, and said "we are dialed in" The kids didn't yell or get too emotional, they just looked like they were ready to tear apart what ever was waiting for them on the field. It is the same look Osborne's teams had during the tunnel walk, quiet, confident, and determined to get to work. Boys the storm is here, all we need to do is grab on to something with all our might, beyond the calamity we have a date with destiny, all we need to do is get through the storm, and we will, because we are Nebraskans!
  2. In a post practice interview yesterday, HCMR stated that he believes this thing is going in the right direction, and that this program has all the necessary tools to build a winner. Mike really emphasized the need of recruiting and allowing it time to develop. Basically, to get back to relevance, the program needs time. Time huh... This dude has coached for forty years, I don't see where time has any thing to do with Lang calling a pass on 3 & 2 in the redzone resulting in a pick six. Or the other flanker screen in the redzone against NIU while the CB is playing press coverage. It is a concerning statement because it implies that the talent level is not there, and if it is there, the kids need time to develop. I agree that development needs to occur, but lack thereof is a direct reflection on coaching. Do not be fooled dear Husker fans, this is not an issue of needing time. This is an issue of inept play calling, and not having any sort of unequivocal idea on what identity these coaches are trying to establish. We have a youthful and weak O-line, yet these coaches have not found a way to compensate with a decent run game. This is Nebraska, the culture in Mike's locker room is toxic. There is no toughness, no physicality, no emphasis on winning through means of preparation and accountability. Young men are eager to be led. When we lost to NIU, players were talking about how their goals of a BIG championship was still alive... That is great, but how about actions speak louder than words. Shoot, my family couldn't even give away there Rutgers tickets for free on craigslist. Ticket prices are falling. There is a serious problem, and this is not about Nebraska being a coaching carousal. This is about taking back the asylum from the inmates. This is about getting back to our roots, and putting the right leader in place who rewards great preparation and playing time is not given. Week after week Lamar Jackson refuses to tackle, yet he gets to start.... Why? because he was highly recruited? what about earning that playing time. I look at memorial stadium, I see the resources, I see the trophies, all that I don''t see is a coaching staff worthy of even looking at such a beautiful sight. This thing is going to get turned around, but it ain't going to be with Mike.
  3. What a blessing in disguise this could be. Riley goes back to OSU, he makes 1.5 millions, cuts Nebraska's payments in half to him for his buyout... On a sour note, Anderson's failure could be partly due to Riley's losing culture that was cultivated for many years at OSU, hopefully Nebraska can rid itself of his loser mentality when he packs up his prius.
  4. Lets just compare here shall we. Scott Frost took over a UCF team that lost every game two years ago and now they are undefeated. Strong took over Willie Taggarts USF team that was 10-2 last season. I trust the guy that has turned a garbage team into the number one ranking offense in the country. Frost or bust
  5. I could honestly care less if KJJ came back, totally came in with a bad attitude. I think this program needs coaches who hold players to a high standard.
  6. You are out of your garsh darn mind son. this dude is toast.
  7. And Wisconsin is taking a D lineman out of Lincoln this year I think his name is Williams... absolutely unacceptable not keeping the talent in Nebraska. The kid doesn;t even have a Nebraska offer. On a side note, Eichorst really phucked us here. He made a hire that he though was going to outsmart everybody. Mike Riley had zero conference championships in twenty plus years at OSU. Ran a pass heavy offense, and on an annual basis lost to FCS team, all while being a career .500 coach... What the Phuk was Eichorst thinking? that dude will never be an AD at any place worth a damn. I am glad Pearlman is gone too. I don't know if anybody noticed but there has been a prodigious effort to disassociate Nebraska with just being a football school. The FOX commercial with football players running through the cornfield was forcefully taken off air because our AD thought it painted Nebraska as as state with nothing but corn. Who cares! Nebraska is an agriculture state, we are proud of that. That farmer, blue collar mentality used to mirror the way our team played. All the recruiting videos are showing Lincoln as some metropolis... Once again Lincoln is nice, but kid should come to play football at Nebraska because we are winning titles, and sending dudes into the league. Riley cannot be gone soon enough. I am over this bullsh&t. I am over the fake hype.
  8. I don't care if we recruit 5 star or 4 star wideouts, those dudes are a dime a dozen, go out and find a damn good d and o line and develop those kids. With a good o-line protecting a qb and creating a running lane, any half decent athlete will get open regardless of being a four star.. success starts in the trenches. Mike Riley doen't get it, and neither does uncle fester his o line coach
  9. Yup it is all propaganda. Shoot, I feel like live in North Korea the way the athletic department paints the football program. "lockdown U" "CALIBRASKA"... give me a break already, how about " at Nebraska, we don't talk, we just run the damn ball, play fundamentally sound football, protect the rock, and our coaches don't throw on 3 and 2 in the redzone...."
  10. Well boys it sounds to me that there is a consensus around huskernation that Riley needs to go. But the question is who do we get? I think Frost, and it sounds like many of you agree, not all, but many of you. No more experiments with coaches who run offenses that are not conducive to winning in Lincoln. When Riley was hired Coach Osborne told Riley to run the ball, because as you all know the weather can get funky in October and November and passing is not really a viable option. I think we would be remissed to allow another outsider like Eichorst come in and make a decision without having any knowledge of Nebraska's history. Eichorst came in and fired Pelini onlt to replace him with an Offense that most people felt was going to fail in the BIG, well it appears that way. Our run game is abysmal. I see no push from our O-line. When this firing of Riley happens, we need to write our boosters, our president, our chancellor, and our AD and at least let them know that we support a Scott Frost Hiring and are willing to support Coach Frost into perpetuity to get this thing turned around. Frost Will get this turned around. I can feel it. I flt like Callahan was wrong, felt like Riley was wrong. Frost just feels right. Frost would heal this fanbase, and his hiring will return us to our roots. example. Harbaugh-Michigan Richt-Miami There is something to be said for a guy who has bleed for his program as a player. Frost will come home, Matt Davison even said it. This is his home. What did Bear Bryant say, "mama called, and when mama calls, you come running." GBR!!
  11. bigred 40 I agree with you 100 percent on ur post abut getting back to our identity, this crap is getting old. where are you getting this from?
  12. i mean you saw the guy he's a total... well you know
  13. 3 and 2 in the red zone, you run it, shoot run it on fourth if you do not convert on 3rd down. these coaches are inept and incompetent,
  14. I cannot wait, what a glorious day it will be in Huskerland
  15. lol my name is tim, and am a bro. so i sort of stole tebow. timmytbro? lol
  16. Exactly, it is absurd that people thought we played good. What I saw was a Nebraska team who was being chipped away at, and finally succumbed in the 2nd half. Riley absolutely has no winning culture established in that locker room.
  17. I sure hope you are right about Riley being done. this thing is beyond frustrating. Nebraska fans deserve better, the players deserve better.
  18. I brought up on the board earlier, how Riley's demeanor and body language permeates losing, I was met with a strong rebuke for it. It is safe to say that my assumption is not wrong. This is year three, why are we regressing? I see absolutely no improvement or encouraging signs of improvement.
  19. Guys I just want to get all of your opinions on where we go from here? Is Riley done at Nebraska? Eichorst is already gone, what was the point in firing Shawn Eichorst if we keep Riley and Co. around after these awful results in year three. On paper Wisconsin was not more talented than Nebraska, they did not need to be. Wisconsin knows who they are, and they continue to win, even after being on their third coach in six years. ' I love Nebraska football, it is has brought a bound between me and dad. It has made me feel pride, and taught me how to demonstrate relentless support. Shoot I keep coming back every fall. It is just sad that For nearly forty years we were a contender. What changed? what was so wrong with being a smash mouth running team? what was wrong with being Nebraska? Anyways, I hope you all are feeling ok, I sure hope there are better days ahead for our beloved Huskers.
