  1. I should say that I'm not saying he's the best linebacker recruit in the country, but he is bigger and a better athlete than the guy who is listed at number one right now.
  2. Not being sarcastic. He has a much bigger frame and is a better athlete. Dude averaged 12.1 yards per carry last year as a running back and was asked to do absolutely everything he could for his team.
  3. I like his highlights better than number one inside linebacker recruit Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
  4. Sorry, that wasn't directed at you and I appreciate you relaying that information to the board. I think the coach saying that he came in a bit bulky at 215 lbs is more of a way to avoid criticizing his quarterback's limitations than a reflection on Neville's physical abilities last August.
  5. I think it has more to do with the late transfer than the weight. Look at his sophomore film and compare it to his junior tape. Last year, he was asked to run short and intermediate routes exclusively. Hightower's two top receivers both caught a majority of their passes under 10 yards. That's a scheme choice to spread and take quick yards. Maybe his late arrival made them just plug him into the slot there? Maybe he wasn't in the best of shape? Maybe his quarterback couldn't deliver on time down field?
  6. It makes sense if he's running track in college. Arkansas has a strong tradition of sprinters.
  7. He could be the Aaron Golliday clone we've all been waiting for.
  8. Absolutely, it's just amazing how they failed to deliver in such unique ways.
  9. Mike Reilly (I know, I know) talked about how his recruiting goal from a personnel perspective was to get a two-deep out of every two recruiting classes.
  10. Watching his tape, you see that high ceiling because that effort and frame are a rare combination. He's so big right now and doesn't have a natural knee bend, so he ends up shoving people around rather than driving them. The weight room and nutritionist will help him get to a Dan Vili Waldrop level.
  11. If he commits and signs then he would be the eighth player to get a scholarship to Nebraska after playing 8-Man football including Andrew Shanle (St. Edwards, 2002), Steve Kriewald (North Loup-Scotia, 2000), Josh Brown (Foyil, 1998), Scott Shanle (St. Edwards, 1998 [greyshirt]), Terry Connaely (Hyannis, 1990), Lance Lundberg (Wausau, 1989), and Dean Steinkuhler (Sterling, 1978). Every single one of those guys ended up in NFL training camps.
  12. Watching his highlights and I just keep noticing how well the linemen in Utah high schools are coached.
  13. I don't care about the color, I just want to have a crazy crown back.
  14. I really like his ability to catch the ball, looks like a Laviska Shenault sort of player at the Duck-R position.
  15. Yes, a bunch of times. It can get a little fuzzy because there are so many rankings out there but; 2011: Aaron Green, Tyler Moore 2005: Marlon Lucky, Ndamukong Suh 2004: Courtney Grixby, Lydon Murtha 2000: Chris Septak, Jason Richenberger, Terrell Butler 1999: Josh Davis, TJ Hollowell 1997: Eric Crouch, Bobby Newcombe, Kyle Vandenbosch 1996: Deangelo Evans, Willie Miller, Dan Alexander, George Guidry, Mike Brown, Ralph Brown, Josh Gibson 1995: Ahman Green, James Sherman, Adam Julch, Tony Ortiz 1994: Grant Wistrom, Sheldon Jackson 1993: Lawrence Philips, Jamel Williams, Eric Anderson, Michael Booker 1992: Tommie Frazier, Clinton Childs, Ed Morrow 1990: Calvin Jones, Corey Dixon, Ed Stewart 1989: Derek Brown, Johnny Mitchell, Trev Alberts, David Noonan 1988: Bruce Pickens, Travis Hill 1987: Mickey Joseph, Leodis Flowers, Nate Turner, Brian Boerboom Missed it in 2008 where we had 5 at one point: Baker Steinkuhler, Blaine Gabbert, Trevor Robinson, Jonas Gray, and Bryce Givens Since 1980, we've missed on four in-state top 60 recruits: Scott Frost (1993), Larry Station (1982), Tim Ridder (1995), Trevor Robinson (2008) Bold = *****
  16. David's brother Joshuwa was the combine champ in the 2015 circuit running a 4.26. His film looks like Tierre Green's from back when he was at Benson where they would just pitch it to him or hand it off-tackle and expect him to outrun the entire defense. And like Green, I think his future might be better in the defensive secondary.
  17. There are four teams that are untouchable in regards to dominance in the AP Era (1936-). 1945 Army: The single most dominant team of all-time. They ran two units deep, completely substituting their offense. The meat of their offense, Doc Blanchard (54' shot put and 10.0 100y) and Glenn Davis (6.1 60y and 20.9 220y) are incredibly physically impressive even by the standards of today. Number one offense (maybe ever) and number one defense in 1945. Only argument against them is that they were the 2nd most successful US Army team that year. 1995 Nebraska: 4 top ten victories, 0 games in question at the half. Greatest punt coverage unit of all-time. 1972 USC: The team that just wore out their opponents turned 6 tied or one possession games at half into laughers during the 3rd quarter. They had no weaknesses. 1971 Nebraska: Nobody within two touchdowns at half except for an Oklahoma team that could just as easily be on this list. This LSU team is similar to last year's Clemson, 2004 USC, or 2001 Miami in terms of being a ridiculously talented team that had a few close games but put it together when they needed it in the big game.
  18. He grew up a season ticket holder to SMU games, his dad played there and his older brother is playing there now then his old high school coach is SMU's recruiting director. Once Texas picked Jalen Milroe and A&M went for Eli Stowers as their QBs, SMU was the big favorite.
  19. Given the current list, I would say that Will Shields would be more likely than either of those two.
  20. They put him at 38. Eddie George, who never won a conference championship and only made one All-Conference team is listed one spot ahead of Johnny Rodgers, the most dynamic and exciting player in the 70s. By the way, Rodgers has more touchdowns and yards (50/6,059) than George (45/4302) in 12 fewer games. This list is dumb and rewards NFL longevity and TV personalities over college football success and relevance.
  21. Woodhead is fast and supremely quick. He won the GMAC and has the Chadron record for the indoor 55m at 6.47 in 2006 which works out to around a 7.00 60m. But he was a late bloomer, running a 11.25 in the state meet in the 100m his junior year. He didn't run his senior year and just dominated on the soccer field instead. From what I gathered, Solich wasn't a fan and Callahan was intrigued but had him behind Brandon Jackson and the Lemming connection to the Panico family was too big to overcome. For comparison, Algarin's track times are a little bit faster than Woodhead's and his jumps are at the top of the high school ranks.
  22. I was at that camp in 2003 and spent most of my time pestering Scott Downing with a million questions. He said that he better not see this information on the internet, but it's been 16 years, so I think I'm in the clear. Turns out that Solich was interested in Woodhead walking-on and possibly earning a scholarship as return specialist. I know that Downing was really high on Danny and thought that he could get a greyshirt offer with a good 40 time. Those camps used fully automatic timing on the 40 (read: SLOW) and Woodhead didn't break 4.7 while Terrance Nunn ran in the 4.5s and Nate Swift was around 4.6. Come December, Callahan comes in and retains Downing. Talking to him at the 2004 camp was equally interesting. Essentially, if we didn't swoop in and get Brandon Jackson in January then Woodhead would have gotten some sort of offer but their roles were too similar at running back. Callahan was focused on getting a bunch of late additions at smart/quick options receiver and Downing suggested Woodhead. However, Tom Lemming convinced him that Santino Panico was THE diamond in the rough in high school football. Other fun tidbits from Downing that I remember We were going to shut out Oklahoma State in the opener Jeff Byers is the best high school lineman he has ever seen but was only 260 lbs Vince Young will separate Texas from the rest of the Big XII Tommy Zbikowski is the perfect Solich QB and was their number one target They had spent the offseason obsessing over Rich Rodriguez's new offense at West Virginia
  23. 247 decided to give me a small shock this morning.
  24. Those highlights are spectacular. Betts is so smooth in his movements and such a fluid hand catcher. He looks like a high school Chad Ochocinco.
  25. Peter Costelli looks exactly like Central Michigan QB Dan Lefevour.
