  1. The answer to your question (the bold part of the question) will likely reveal itself in today's game. Yep, making a prediction here that I'll be laughed at and mocked for making but... if the game is close (and I expect it to be) at a crucial point a mythical penalty will once again appear. It has happened in every game that could of (should of) been an upset except for well... you guessed it... a blind eye (missed call) or well... that random "I don't see it" penalty. Iowa is the west rep in the championship game (head to head they beat Purdue) and ain't no way the B1G officials will allow a Nebraska victory. This is the most corrupt, politically driven, do anything for the $$$ conference in all of sports and frankly, everyone here knows they don't think Nebraska is a proper fit.
  2. lol, I'm thinking this thread alone has most past the "don't drink anymore" mark.
  3. This ... but really, it'll be Mickey Lando Joseph ftw!!!
  4. wow... 4:30 hit and crickets.. everyone must be going home early today
  5. lol, for those like me with small vocabularies this is the wiki on Ayahausca
  6. I find I don't dis the MAC coaching tree anymore as there have been some highly successful coaches that started in the MAC Link
  7. Not sure you can say that.. defense seems to be holding their own physically. The offense however... especially the line is where the biggest struggle is. Both sides have the same Strength and Conditioning.
  8. @ActualCornHusker I'd assume that Rhule is saying he has 40 mil banked and any offer will need to be significantly more. Especially if it's not the "perfect" job. My bet is, he wants a 7 year deal at 9-10 per year with an additional 5 -7 for assistants.
  9. Here is something nobody's really given MJ any cred on... Even through this tumultuous season MJ has held together and actually even strengthened this class. Look at where Wisky currently sits. If we need something to point at for MJ being hired this is one.. are there more, likely but I'm too much of a novice to know. I'm also not privy to a list of coaches MJ would bring in.
  10. I'm very much ok with MJ getting the permanent title but I've said that multiple times in this thread. What shocks me is the rumored concern potential coaches have about the state of the program. Is this program really in such disarray?
  11. Man, how bad did Peterson and Pearlman hose the once proud program? I mean it's unbelievable how far we've fallen. Unthinkable in the 90's, barely believable even in the Pelini era yet, here we are again miserably waiting for the announcement of our next best hope. SMH and
  12. John Harbaugh... now that would be a splash indeed... Imagine him facing off against his brother.
  13. Can't disagree with you more. 1. To think the search is not fluid is foolish. "He knew this was likely coming" "He had from then until the start" ... Let's see, Kiffin wasn't available, Aranda was but also not a viable reality, Rhule was in the NFL, Prime Time was even a more unproven commodity at that time.. so, your comment here is a stretch at best. 2. "He fired Frost after 3 games", yes and again, many possible candidates were in the heart of the season and not wanting to create distractions therefore likely responding with we can speak closer to the end of the season privately. Again, your comment at best is a HUGE stretch. 3. "Penny smart, pound foolish" - You're making assumptions of which you have zero real insight into is the only foolish truth. Not trying to offend you as I've always respected your posts. So I was shocked when I read this post.
  14. Gotta say, I find it interesting to say the least that after 9 weeks and countless hours of speculation, rumors, losing by less than 1 TD, etc.... I'm amazed that not only has the recruiting class remained intact it's actually grown. Someone knows something and it is very impressive that the secrets have remained so tight lipped. No way does the recruiting class hold and grow if the recruits are in the same fog the fans are in. My speculation is the forth coming coach is either a big name (Urban/Lane/Rhule) guy or it's MJ.. There's just no other way the class is held together for this long. I also believe it's not MJ or he'd have already been promoted. I also don't believe it's either Meyer or Rhule as they are not coaching and therefore, could have been announced long ago. Kiffin therefore is the last man standing and to be honest, is my least hoped for of the bunch. Aranda and Prime Time are also still coaching and are dark horses as well but they don't seem to fit the bill. Yes there are others still coaching that might also fall into the "wait for the season's end" statistic but are they big enough names to keep "every" recruit committed? Hence the reason I believe the coaching hire is already signed. Just my two cents.. Amazed that our recruits have remain committed through it all.
  15. Let's see, as TO's offense we won 3 national titles.. since we went to a spread Flexbone (Solich, who also managed to reach the NC game) the West Coast (Callahan who reached the Big 12 championship), the "option" RPO (Pelini who again reached the conference championship in both the Big 12 and 10) and since well... we've tried a pro set (Riley) and a gimmick rpo (frost) that both achieved nothing.. So, if we can't recruit the rpo/west coast style offenses that tOSU, Georgia, Alabama, USC, Oregon and every other high population state universities run then maybe just maybe we might want to reconsider the only style of offense that has worked. A style that is run first with both power and finesse (the option) and a mobile QB that can run a true rpo. (Meaning moves forward with the back rather than is stationary waiting for the DE to crash.) Personally, I'd rather us return to the Pelini offense and win with great defense. I don't think Rhule is that coach but I do think Urban would be. I also like either of the academy coaches and the one actual inside source I know (son is a current player) commented to me that MJ believes the only offense that will work for us to have success is a modernized option offense. When I asked what that is he (the players dad) said the changes in blocking rules have virtually eliminated the ability to run a pure option so you run more of an rpo style out of both a single back and 2 back set with the second back often in motion as a counter direction play. I've said it over and over.. I'm a novice fan so that's kind of over my head.. I'm sure there's people here who could better explain it but the point is, the current player told his dad that MJ, if hired, would run a modernized rpo.
  16. You really read into my post.. To clarify, my thought was a 5-7 mil offer for say Rhule/Meyer/Aranda would be low ball.. I'd assume MJ would be 3-5 with incentives that might reach 7. For the Rhule's of the game, I'd assume their looking at 8-10... I understand why you read it as you did and NO I wouldn't expect Trev to offer MJ more that 5.
  17. @admo - I think if Trev is going the route of low ball offer until proven success then he's going to hire Mickey at 6-7 million with additional incentives of 2-3 mil if he achieves certain goals.. That said, I doubt Trev goes the low ball route. He'll spend the $.$$ to get the coach he wants. This hire is huge. Low balling an offer would be way too counter productive.
  18. Hmm... Mickey says he can get young men to follow him and did so with noticeable confidence.. Wonder how many on this board would be upset of MJ was announced and his DC was Vance. Neither are likely to happen but man would that be a shocker!!
  19. Church's Fried Chicken in the Big-O. What's next Whataburger? No more fast food Omaha... We need more variety in sit down restaurants. maybe some Chicago Style Pizzeria's or some New Orleans southern cooking but no more darn chicken!!!

Whataburger is in Kansas City now, so Omaha wouldn't be too big of a jump.

@admo I didn't say anything about them moving near me, I'm like 500 miles from the nearest Whataburger.

  20. I still think in the end, Mickey gets the temp title removed.
  21. No, what you did is tried to pick apart my post in your initial response starting with "Why the rant".. Then you throw in the snarky comment "because you didn't get the coach you like"... The post was aggressively word with intent to draw forth bitterness. My original post was not about my liking of MJ.. it was about the staff's and holding them as accountable as they hold players. That accountability comes from the HC whom can't put personal friendships ahead of professional loyalty.
  22. Rant???? I only stated truth.. Mike Riley had NFL head coaching experience at San Diego Bill Callahan with Oakland both fired as NFL head coaches that prior to were highly regarded just like Rhule. My point was, the staff is the glue to success.
  23. So did Mike Riley and before him, Bill Callahan ... The HC needs a strong staff to be successful regardless of what level they're coaching at. Rhule's success will only go as far as his staff. Coaching at this level is (and must be) a cutthroat job. Head coaches need to learn they're loyalty to staff's must be tied to success on the field. I like MJ because he showed he can put his personal friendship aside and make hard decisions. If Rhule is our new HC and he, like Callahan, like Riley, like Frost can't/won't keep sound, successful staffs then he too will fail. If the staff's go out to recruit players to come in and compete then coaches should also know they also can be replaced.
