That won’t happen this year because the NCAA is announcing regional hosts a few weeks prior to the start of the tournament, rather than when the brackets are released on Memorial Day weekend. This is being done to ensure the regional hosts have the necessary COVID testing equipment and other facilities to host 4 teams.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2021-ncaa-baseball-tournament-projected-field-of-64-42121/%3famphtml

NU doesn’t necessarily have to be a 1-seed in this year’s tournament to be a regional host. If the NCAA wants to spread the regions around more geographically, NU could be a host as a 2-seed. But that still means NU needs to keep winning these next couple weeks.

Additional info on the tournament regionals and super regional are mentioned in this article. https://www.themiamihurricane.com/2021/04/11/how-the-ncaa-baseball-tournament-will-be-different-due-to-covid-19/

Actually, it was said they are selecting 20 sites and informing those schools early so preparations and confirmations for covid protocols can be made and confirmed. Then, memorial weekend they will decide who is receiving. They adding 4 extra sites for 2 reasons. A. covid B. Late deserving teams. So, yes... if both NU and Michigan continue to win and play for the conference C-ship then one can assume they are also playing for a regional host. It's been said in multiple discussions that a 30 win B1G team would likely receive a regional but the B1G would only receive 1 regional at most. I do like your posts @ColoradoHusk as the posts are always well written, well intended and spot on but I think this time you missed a huge part of what the ncaa posted about selecting the sites. They choose the sites early yes. They are choosing 20 and informing all 20 host schools but the actual site locations will not be released until the end of May.

edit: I may be wrong here too so if I am please accept my apology and please correct me :)

  2. I think the midwest is set for 2 regionals and the 3 teams currently in the running are Mich, Neb, Notre Dame.. (all 3 can afford to put forth a lucrative package that out bids other pretenders and all 3 have the facility with Haymarket Park being the premier of the 3).

As for the Fayetteville regional. The only reason Nebraska would be sent there if they don't get a regional is the DVH/Bolt appeal. In reality and for the good of the game, the better location(s) would be a host site within the Big 12. I believe the ncaa committee would chose the latter rather than the current D1 projection. I also believe D1 projects more to their hopes instead of the actual committee needs. Nebraska in a BIG 12 regional would bring more money and more recognition as a whole to that regional over a possible matchup between the Master and Student.

  3. So, I was surfing this morning and went to btn's youtube... Not a single video covering America's Sport. Not a single mention of it. Nor is there any talk of women's softball.

There's a reason, a concrete, very noticeable reason the national writers ignore BIG spring sports. It starts at the top of the B1G leadership.

  4. The B1G ten gets a National Championship and not even a peep. Not even a congratulations to Nebraska's Women's Bowling team.. and people still wonder why Nebraskan's are getting disgusted with this conference!! B1G is disgusting and it's not a good place for Nebraska sports.

  5. So.. like many on here I'm sure, in my frustration of zero conference news about baseball I thought I'd visit the conference websites of the other power conferences to compare. Other conferences actually show journalistic interests in baseball. All of them except the B1G.. fact is, theres more about track, gymnastics, golf, lacrosse and even womens softball than baseball. Personally, I don't know why any high school senior considering a baseball scholly and especially dreaming about a professional career in baseball would even briefly consider an offer from a B1G school. The B1G (like d1 baseball site) is about $.$$ and nothing more. They expect fans to buy a platform to listen not to actual groomed and interesting commentators but rather college students with sometimes little knowledge of the game. I personally am absolutely sick of the disrespect this conference has for the fans, the athletes, the schools as a whole. Leaving the big 12, to me, is quickly revealing itself as a mistake. Maybe not a huge mistake but a mistake nonetheless.

  6. That indicates they don't have much belief in Nebraska.. putting us in as the last #2 only before having us as the last #3.. Arkansas is listed as the #1 overall seed yes?  If so, then Nebraska is the last #2, yes? Or.. am I wrong in my thinking?

  7. @Huskerfan4life - Not sure this is that unexpected. I'm ok with it for the short time if it minimizes potential exposure while rewarding deserving programs. I'm sure the 8 national seeds will be selected as normal (thru both the earned reward and the uni's bid package). It will reduce travel but also reward for other deserving programs though. A 1 year decision is acceptable to me. Nothing more then 1 year though.

  8. @VectorVictor- You're post regardless is destructive. You're stating the teams success is not enough. That's destructive and not constructive. As for the last sentence of the post above. I noticed you left out tOSU which just swept Indiana (a team you included). Did you forget that we split out contests with tOSU in Minny? Good isn't good enough for some. For me, I'll take Good and trust in the the system to get better rather than seeing the grass on the other side.

I'm ecstatic about the bats coming alive under Bolt this season--there's not a game I don't feel we won't be in now because Bolt has them trained well at the plate.

Fielding has been on-point, but that really hasn't been an issue for a long time now, has it?

Our pitching though...I don't see how we can hope to compete in the NCAA Tourney with our pitching the way it is. Sorry to be "that guy", but we're seeing our pitching take some serious knocks against inferior opponents--we just happen to be outslugging the competition, which is great...until we get into a slump.

We'll see how things look against the Top talent in the B1G (read: Indiana, Michigan) later this season...but if our pitching doesn't improve, we seriously need to look at getting a legitimate Pitching coach on board next season.

    Yeah... NO!!

Illinois is the top hitting team in the B1G. Is one of the 3 projected teams to play in post season. (Illinois, Michigan, Indiana) Also, the B1G is always an understated conference. Proof is in recent CWS participation. Indiana & Michigan both have carried the B1G flag well. This conference is much better and much deeper than you're admitting. Things are working and you're ready to break it up.. I'd rather think positive and say.. these bats will most certainly entice better pitching prospects.

  10. Why not discuss this privately guys.. the forum in it's entirety needs not to wade through this. Just saying..

I personally choose to believe. To believe in circumstance. To believe in hope. To believe in trust. To believe one year can make a difference. Joe Borrow is proof of that.

  11. Honestly, when I watch his video, makes me think he might be a better cornerback/safety... In his video he utilizes his size to his advantage but he won't have that advantage in college. His quick feet I think might be better suited on the defense but again, i'm a novice football fan.

That schedule was pretty easy, with being mostly lower tier DI schools which included northern teams such as NDSU and SDSU.  The California team we played, was in Lincoln.  Once we hit the Big 12, we took a pretty good beating.  I for one thought we would move into the Big 10, with other schools located in the north and dominate.

Quoting the bold, you weren't alone here... Relatively sure most of us thought the same. Like most nationally, we snubbed our nose at B1G baseball and well... we learned the truth very quickly.

  13. Here's what I don't get. For all his ills, why was Bo able to recruit the talent to at least keep us respectable and bowl eligible and Riley/Frost haven't even been close? In my mind I'd think I'd be more inclined to play for either Riley or Frost.. I just don't get why Frost is struggling to recruit offensive talent.
