  1. I'm sure the Nebraska athletics department is running an incredibly complex multifaceted double cross on the media over an alternate jersey. Seems likely.
  2. Is he related to Joseph Randle from Ok State? He was from Wichita as well, I believe.
  3. Eh I don't really buy this. We pulled Adrian lots of times when he was playing fine or well to give Luke drives in close games. He got a drive in the second half of the Iowa game! I think our coaches genuinely thought he was even or close to Adrian.
  4. I thought his brother had beef with Mel Tucker for bailing on Colorado? Am I missing something here?
  5. I loved those 97 throwback ones; let's bust those out again.
  6. We're seeing plenty of good teams each year in the West and have to crossover with Ohio State every year. I'm all for playing a marquee non-con game or series every year because it's fun, but we don't really need to add more challenge to our schedule and the other two games should be used to get ourselves right for conference play. Basically no Big Ten West teams ever play anyone with a pulse in non-con.
  7. I've resisted the Ervin hype thus far because it felt like people getting excited about a shiny new thing but fellas I'm getting close to getting on the bandwagon
  8. Yeah I'm done responding here.
  9. 1) It's not being negative to state that quarterback play doesn't exist in a vacuum and that we were, in fact, quite bad at a lot of other areas of offense last year, which would affect quarterback play. 2) No one serious was saying that Joe Burrow "wasn't special." They were saying that our coaches followed good process and made a decision that every other staff in the country would have made, and then in an extremely unlikely turn of events Joe Burrow ended up being special. There's a difference between process and results and some posters don't seem to understand that and flatten everything into A/B arguments devoid of context so that they can criticize the staff. When talking about "negativity" that's what we're talking about, not pointing out deficiencies in players. I have no problem with people saying "Adrian Martinez needs to fumble less." That's true! But I do have a problem with "Adrian Martinez fumbles and we had a bunch of backups who got beat out transfer, so that means there's been no quarterback development."
  10. Can you provide me some specific examples of him holding the ball too long and not running? Because I've rewatched every game after he took the starting job back over and he almost always made his first read and then looked to scramble if it wasn't there. If anything I felt he was too eager to run and was missing open receivers.
  11. God if we can get some receivers making plays down the field, the offense is going to explode.
  12. This was originally a response to Savage Husker but I am deleting because it seems like you guys already addressed these points with him haha
  13. Vedral was a good backup the staff brought in who was going to be third-string and transferred for a starting opportunity. Can you explain what you think our coaches did wrong there? Are you suggesting they be like: "No, Noah, we need you to turn down this chance to start to stay here in case our first two QBs get hurt." QBs transfer when they don't get the chance to play. That's college football in 2021 for better or worse.
  14. I don't think individual periods are really tied to the depth chart most places. It'd be a lot more meaningful if he were in there a bunch in team periods.
  15. With the TV contract the SEC will be able to sign with Texas and OU in the fold it's probably going to be a lot more money than the Big 12, at least.
  16. Please just let this guy shout into the void. It's so stupid we're relitigating this AGAIN.
  17. The interior of our O-line was truly atrocious at pass pro in 2019. There was almost immediate rush up the middle in every obvious pass situation. It's the whole reason they moved Farniok to guard.
  18. Rewatching our games, a lot of people's complaints about Adrian are issues that oftentimes stem from the line or receivers. That's not to say he never misses a receiver or read or doesn't do boneheaded stuff every so often, but our pass pro was horrendous at times last year and we had no one getting separation beside Wandale. Overall Adrian is vastly a plus for our offense far more often than he's a negative and if we all expect some improvements in pass pro and at receiver, I think he is primed for a big year. I'm fully aware that the "Pass was complete/incomplete so the QB must be good/bad" crowd will not care about this but FWIW I think he's about to go off.
  19. Considering most of your posts are some combination of wildly incorrect, offensive, or detached from reality, I am going to trust our coaches' evaluations of quarterbacks over yours. Have a good one!
  20. You're basing your evaluation of Smothers off of seeing one out of 15 total spring practices. Our coaches would have brought in a more experienced quarterback via transfer if they though Smothers or Haarberg weren't capable of being a competent backup.
  21. Our coach who sees them play every day did, so I'm going to trust him.
  22. While there are lingering concerns with certain injuries, guys are usually labeled "injury prone" until they aren't anymore and then no one talks about it. Jurgens has missed two games over two seasons. Stepp played in every game last year and his only two serious college injuries have been missing the last five games of his RFR season after spraining his ankle and missing this spring's camp. As usual this guy is talking some nonsense.
  23. *joins you on the Scott and Morrison hype train*
  24. 250 in a "busted his a$$ over the summer and got even more rocked up" way or 250 in a "put on bad weight" way?
