  1. As I posted in the worst loss thread....dignity. we've lost that & now we explored getting out of a clear blowout loss scenario and into a cupcake home game...someone had loose lips & that sunk the ship. We are what we are... redundant but true. We are a struggling program trying to find footing in an elite league and in a sport that has left us behind. We are stuck in that hole, the problem is we keep digging.
  2. Lakes and yvan are as good as gone. Lakes didn't come here to play 3 minutes a game. He isn't coming back. Yvan will be the #4 post next year, he's gone. I could easily see wood leaving. He doesn't excite me & kids leave If they don't play. So that's 3...2 to go. I'd say stevenson and banton leave. Stevenson is in and out of the doghouse and doesn't seem to have a fit here. Banton has been getting a quicker hook as of late & has lost his spot. It would be easy to see them both leave. I do think thor comes back & webster is finding his groove now. I think there's a better than average chance he comes back to
  3. I do hope we play well against iowa. Can't stand their fans...much like they probably can't stand us. This is, however, a totally different animal than the state university of new jersey. Rutgers can't shoot it well from deep & we exploited that. They missed a lot of open shots. Doc had a masterful defensive game plan and the guys executed it very well Iowa has loads of shooters, and garza is going to get 20 and 10 unless we throw doubles and triples at him all game. Have to make the elder mccaffrey beat us from deep...and have to make that toussaint kid shoot. He reminds me of benny parker. A pest that can lock down defensively and facilitate & drive...can't hit the broad side of a barn. Go skers!
  4. One game does not make a season...but damn that was fun to watch. Everyone who says we're better with Allen is wrong. Even if we didn't make the shots, the offense & defense was significantly more hoiberg-like.
  5. I never want to wish ill of any person, so what I say about allen is basketball related...not personal attacks. He wasn't the right fit here stylistically. That was evident early on. I think hoiberg was sort of hoping for a poor man's royce white...though he doesn't have the size and post game. He is not that kind of player and never will be. I am sure he can thrive in a different system & I wish him well. But don't mistake the fact that we were and will continue to be a better basketball team without him. We just didn't mesh styles.
  6. I would guess these players would be back: Mcgowens Banton Mayen Walker Andre Add in the three newcomers of tominaga, mcgowens, breidenbach. That is 8 Wildcards: Allen (I hope he goes elsewhere, he is a cancer) Stevenson-was in hoibergs doghouse early on...may not fit the scheme wanted. Wood-doesnt excite me as much as he does some of you...he isn't playing, that generally leads to unrest & transfer...we will see Ouedraogo-he is the #3 post now, he will be #4 next year...I assume he will leave Arop-injury sets him back, I wouldn't be surprised either way. He seems invested, but there may not be a way forward here for him. Webster/Thor-they could come back...I doubt it but this eligibility freeze is wacky. Neither have NBA aspirations and if there is a lot of turnover, perhaps one stays. Gone for sure: Lakes-thank god So I have 8 schollies for sure with 5 maybes. I wouldn't mind yvan staying for depth, arop and wood could still develop. Stevenson doesn't do it for me, but I'd rather have him than allen. Bottom line for me is, unless a senior or two comes back, we will be below the limit & could be taking on additional transfers...stay tuned
  7. When you're 5-17, it's beyond time to have a quick hook for guys that shoot ridiculously dumb shots. I agree I think allen will be gone. Body language from teammates tells me that they don't much care for him either....but I could be wrong.
  8. At the moment he is shaun livingston. Nothing more. If he develops a slightly below average/average outside game to go along with his mid-range, he'll be an nba player. Nobody wants a guard that can't shoot
  9. Allen played his best game. He was lights out, with his usual out of control plays here and there. I hope he stays this way the rest of the year. If he does, I'll eat crow. Kudos to Allen...he had very little help for the first 25-30 minutes tonight
  10. Volume of shots, yes. He threw up garbage shots more than you would like, but Petteway was explosive. He could get to the rim whenever he wanted. Allen has like ymca old man game.
  11. I'm new to the boards...so forgive me if I am asking questions that have already been addressed. I have a take on our basketball team. I would argue that we are significantly better without teddy allen on the floor. Hoibergs offense is a pace & space offense which requires lots of ball/player movement which leads to quality shots. Allen is a black hole offensively. When he gets the ball, the other guys tend to stand around because they know what's coming. He has taken more horrendous shots this year than any other player I can remember in a husker uniform. He is talented, yes & could probably help a team win games...but not this offense & not this system. He is an iso ball player. Like james harden, without the court vision. volume shooter, ball dies in his hands. Just thoughts
