  1. https://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/sipple/steven-m-sipple-husker-ol-legends-weigh-in-lack-of-nastiness-just-one-issue-for/article_f14b99ce-f490-58e8-bcad-534264e33613.amp.html Dishman noticed the same thing Looks like they may have worked on that a bit prior to this game “What I see is they’re often so eager to get to the second level,” he says. “They don’t want to take care of the big guy up front. If they get to the secondary and blow up the little guy, who cares? The play’s going to be dead at the line of scrimmage if you can’t control the double-teams up front. That’s what I see a lot of, guys coming off double-teams way too early. They’re not securing the first man. They think they don’t have time to get to the reaction of the linebacker. “In reality, with that linebacker coming through at full speed, just one arm is going to knock him off-kilter, and that’s going to create a hole. If you get a shoulder on a linebacker, you’re going to crease it. You’re going to make a hole.”
  2. Thanks- anyone hassle- get in your face type thing? We have an MMA guy in our group and I don't want to have to bail him out of jail, miss the game thing.
  3. What's Madison and the fans like? Never been- sizing up a road trip.
  4. Yes, I've watched Michigan. Their defense is truly much better than anything we've faced. They bring crazy good pressure from lots of different looks. AND they have the talent to execute it. Michigan and Iowa are truly elite defenses. In other words- we may be much better- but since the competition is significantly better next week- it may not show up as much result wise. Northwestern- may have been on par with Illinois- Fordham- Buffalo. And we looked much better- improved over those group of 3 games. We will see what linear progress is being made when we see if this group can be consistent against those middle of the pack BIG teams. Of course Im hoping we beat Michigan- but I think we have a real chance of beating Minny, Purdue and getting Wisconsin.
  5. Gotta love that run- contact at the 31- Yant moved the pile to the 35. Drug that one tackler like a rag doll. Hope we see a lot more of that. Was nearly a 14 yard gain- what's not to like about that.
  6. Yant wouldn't have been 25 lbs overweight after being in camp for a month and on training table food. He didn't lose 25 lbs from the Michigan State game- NW. His field vision is pretty good and he breaks tackles- moves the pile. We haven't seen that much from the other guys. Nouredin- I saw him in May- said he was at 310- didn't look cut, but not real flabby etc. He has 2 years of experience- 1 as a starter. Piper was getting his butt kicked. Teddy was amazing in HS and looks like has added good weight. Very smart kid. He was an early enrollee. Will give you it takes time- BUT he did really well in early action. Sure wish they would have done this earlier. Anxious to see how they do against Minnesota and Purdue.
  7. Stai mentioned that the Oline was coming off their double teams too soon. Yes in previous games see all the penetration on double teams where the Olineman trading for or going second level- doesn't stay long enough to get movement- before going second level. That isn't a tough concept. HCSF could have helped a bit with that as well. Note how long on the clip you posted- how long they stay on their doubles.
  8. You mean this one? 2 guys got hands on him on this one.
  9. Correct Also is Northwestern worse than Fordham? Worse than Buffalo? Illinois? That is the standard we are comparing against and this line was MUCH better than the one who played against those 3 teams. I was VERY impressed with Michigans defense- well coached, aggressive, physical. Test will be very difficult and NO ONE expects the same results as they had against NW
  10. Awesome- so the back who has the best day all season by a LONG shot- 6 games worth, 120 plus yards- no negative plays- gets nit picked- but everyone else gets a pass? Nice Was at the game- saw plenty of tackles he ran through on the big screen etc Haven't rewatched it yet.
  11. Never claimed that. Played college ball not at NU Even guys who played HS ball- 2 a days and camp. If you had bad weight to lose- the lbs fell off. If someone didn't play- they may not know that. Lots of people look at 25 lbs and see it as a mountain. For a young kid with bad weight to lose, access to good food and people pushing you to lose it- they come off MUCH easier than most could imagine.
  12. For those of us that went through 2 a days. How much weight did you lose during camp? It was a struggle to keep weight on it was coming off so fast that first month usually.
  13. Well- we benched 40% of our starting offensive line and replaced them with 2 kids that have played very very sparingly. The difference was night and day. And before anyone jumps on hey it was only NW- well lets assume NW is on the same level as Fordham and Buffalo- THe OLINE played MUCH better in this one. One would have hoped our coaching staff wouldn't have to wait until game 6 to figure this one out. Glad they didnt wait till game 7. Maybe Frost noticed something when he was working with the LIne? Sean Callahan seems to think it was HCSF making that decision. As to Yant- again compare his results to what we got in the Fordham and Buffalo games. Yards after contact- the big guy doesnt go down on first contact. Doesn't matter if its a 1 yard or 50 yard gain- you can see the difference. Playing 3 offensive kids who didnt play much at all in previous games, is quite a bit of change. The results speak for themselves.
  14. From a poster that is always accusing others of being selective in sources to fit a narrative. You know a rules for thee not for me type thing.
  15. 25 isnt nearly 30. Its as near 20 as it is 30- it's neither- its 25. Just seeing if he had a source. I'm guessing he didn't stay at 25 over until just before the NW game. One would think if those 25 are bad weight and probably so- he loses 15 of it the first month of being back on training table and the tough camp practices.
  16. Smilin Mike rode a bike to work a lot- wearing a goofy helmet of course. Probably with a basket in front with his emotional support poodle and tall pole with the little flag on it. Most likely wearing one of those bright green safety vests too. Would you expect anything else from our ultimate Beta former HC (writing that makes me sick). On the days he was feeling a little more manly yes he would drive his wifes prius.
  17. Where did you hear 30 lbs. A quick google search 7 sources say 25 lbs. Is that an exaggeration to fit your narrative or is there a credible source that says 30 lbs? https://www.google.com/search?q=yant+nebraska+overweight&rlz=1C1GCEA_enUS831US831&sxsrf=AOaemvLoipt_9HgeT1VK4vHx_X_MKhwORg%3A1633362931147&ei=8yNbYf_CCMTh-gS-uJzQCw&ved=0ahUKEwi_iLOKj7HzAhXEsJ4KHT4cB7oQ4dUDCA4&oq=yant+nebraska+overweight&gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EAxKBAhBGABQAFgAYIwBaABwAHgAgAEAiAEAkgEAmAEA&sclient=gws-wiz
  18. Great kid- talked to him numerous times. Respectful, funny, very smart. LOVES living in Nebraska- great attitude, loves life. Glad to see he stepped up when given the opportunity. He said before the season that the line was 1- 1A that there was a lot of depth. So maybe there wasn't a lot separating each other. Sean Callahan suggested it was Frost who made the changes to the starting lineup for the O-line for Northwestern. Maybe so, he's much closer to the program than any of us here.
  19. He has not been cleared to practice- but has been doing stuff on his own. They expect to have him back practicing very soon.
  20. Banks only played because Corcoran was suffering from a Hamstring injury. Banks played poorly
  21. Yes- then when the replaced player Benhardt came in- he false started on his very first snap. So yes, adding 2 new starters on the Oline seemed to kinda be a big deal. Ive watched all the games and even against Fordham and Buffalo who are definitely worse teams than NW- the oline wasnt opening holes AND they were giving up a lot of penetration. SO using those 2 teams as standards IF you want to equate NW with them- there was a HUGE improvement.
  22. Maybe not an idiot- but I understand their sentiment.
  23. Well not playing Teddy, Nouelli and Yant- maybe wasn't the smartest move most reasonable people think. Playing them seemed to make a pretty big difference last night. Wish he would have done it sooner. Idiot? Not sure that would be appropriate- less than effective and better choices, sure.
  24. Our Special Teams is a disaster. I'm good with incremental improvements right now.
