  1. I just don't see Raiola being retained. Rhule had a discussion with Casey Thompson so hopefully there were some provocative insights gained there...Lol
  2. Marginally better. I don't know how much can be attributed to strength and conditioning...It does seem that there were quite a bit of issues with technique. I didn't see the progress as the season went on that I thought there might be. Some of it's personnel. Not nearly enough improvement.
  3. @Stone Cold James Campen (Now with the Panthers) is one possibility for O-Line coach.
  4. Some news on the coach of Strength and Conditioning and Director of Nutrition front. Each has been given the boot!
  5. This search was conducted as it should be. All the coaches and others consulted remaining private. It's in our interest now and again any time in the future. Your reputation proceeds you. Trev has demonstrated that we operate professionally where discretion is assured. Your privacy is respected. We're good to do business with. Trustworthy. The advantages far outweigh anything that would be an advantage. BTW Fickell was my second choice. I struggled back and forth between the two which I preferred. I think we got the best attainable coach. Wisconsin game will definitely be one to look forward to for sure!
  6. This is going to sound incredibly harsh. Mickey didn't get called into one. Perhaps he didn't meet enough of the criteria and didn't have enough success (wins) to be considered. He was asked to serve as interim with no guarantees attached. Had there been more successes, he might've been interviewed. From the very beginning he acknowledged that it came down to wins. Having said that, his lack of success/wins aren't solely attributable to him. He inherited a mess that was not of his doing. He poured his heart into it doing his level best. As a highly conscientious person in his mind he might think that he deserved more consideration. Now that a permanent head coach has been hired he can decide to continue if asked whether or not to after speaking with his family just as he's said he'll do. He is retained or is let go or resigns and moves on. If there were any misunderstandings, those need to be addressed. Perhaps his compensation is bolstered to reflect the value of his contributions. In my view he deserves to be the highest paid position coach on the staff similar to but not exceeding what a coordinator is compensated. He makes $600K now. Perhaps that this is bumped up to around $725K as an example. You do what you can respectful and considerate. It's obvious what the man brings to the table. Perhaps he aspires to be a head coach and ultimately decides to take advantage of an opportunity. It's not about him. Mickey knows this. There's a whole group of assistants and budget to work with. Maybe they find a way to make it workable. Possibly they don't. It's nothing personal. It's business. You do what you can. No more. No less. It sounds like they'll be meeting to have a discussion soon. If anyone can resume their role effectively after having served as interim I think Mickey can.
  7. “Lucky guesses” is a cordial way of putting it. On occasion we’ve been known to MSU (Make “stuff” up).
  8. I *think* Mickey’s compensation returns to what it originally was prior to being raised for serving as interim. Around $600K. And, two years remain on the contract(?).
  9. No matter what efforts have been made by Rhule, he will be held responsible by some for Mickey not being retained even if not the case. The program isn’t about any one person. Hopefully there’s a way for it to work.
  10. It would seem that both Rhule and Mickey have to give a little. Without knowing the actual amount that’s being requested, it’s hard to say. And we don’t know what the agreed upon staff budget is. There’s a lot to consider. I do know that it’s not about any one person. It has to function well as a whole. Wait and see while hoping for the best…
  11. Hopefully everyone is able to work through it! More on Mickey and other issues at Herbie’s Hangout. https://herbieshangout.com/2022/11/28/what-im-hearing-about-mickey-rhule-vs-fickell-negativity-moving-forward-and-the-new-hires/?amp=1
  12. Six wins, bowl and a bowl win. Even that would be a significant accomplishment.
  13. Details for the Monday press conference https://huskers.com/news/2022/11/27/football-fan-information-for-matt-rhules-monday-press-conference.aspx
  14. Right…And Trev didn’t have to make an additional attempt to successfully secure his guy.
  15. Casey Thompson is a good quarterback. He just needs some protection and time.
  16. It’s in our interest too. Should it work out as well as we want it to, should another program successfully steal Rhule they’re going to pay a price for it. I’d say we have ourselves a very good coach.
  17. Hope that there’s something to Schumann. He sounds like a helluva good coach. https://www.onlineathens.com/story/sports/college/bulldogs-extra/2022/09/01/georgia-football-glenn-schumann-kirby-smart-dan-lanning-uga-bulldogs-defense/7873161001/
  18. Please oh please can we have an outstanding O-Line coach that can recruit and develop!
  19. It will be interesting seeing how Rhule structures his staff. Could their be shared roles for some groups? I think that it’s important to consider too that even with a substantial budget for assistants it might require some creativity to fit all the pieces together.
  20. I’m going to guess that he doesn’t end up being the D-Line coach. Some of these roles can’t be filled just yet while others can help out initially. Getting a jump on everything now that Matt can and filling in as circumstances permit as courtesy to other coaches and their teams.
  21. Went through the drive through at Runza earlier. Person in a blue Impala in front of me paid for my order. In turn I paid for the person behind me. Told the guy at the window, tell them that it’s from Matt.
