  1. This just made my day. I hope it works on saturday.
  2. Anyone know if the spring game is gonna be broadcast over the Internet. Being stationed in Hawaii I dont get a chance to see the spring game. Any info would be awsome.
  3. The biggest thing for us is how good the line will be this year. If they do not produce I see Glenn getting the starting position because he can run people over. But if the O-line gives Lucky the holes that he needs, I think that we are looking at a descent year at our ground game.
  4. I don't know about that. I know that we are a little "light" on the safety side of the defense. But there is one thing my coach always told me. " You can't coach someone to be tall" a good hitter he might be ... but our best safety he is far from.
  5. If it is Nebraska football it is addicting!!!
  6. http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.....asp?CID=531681 Great parts about history of the program and the change that Nebraska is going through. Second time that we have been on rivals.com in the last 2 weeks. People are starting to notice that the Huskers ARE BACK!!!
  7. I think that NU vs USC is gonna be a hell of a game. I will be in the desert when it happens but I am sure that I will get a chance to watch it sometime. GO BIG RED!!!
  8. I am sure that they will not push Beck more then is necessary. We do need a quality back up, even thoug he has not seen much playing time I am sure that he is going to bloom into a fantastic quaterback. I am sure Zac is bringing him along.
  9. I think that it is going to be a very interesting battle between these two until the end of the summer. But I do sleep easier knowing that if one got hurt there is a RB of the same calibur to step up.
  10. I believe they can't practice with the team until the fall. That was the way it was a few years ago.
  11. I thought it was a very well written review of our team. We are looking mean and we ARE GOING TO HURT PEOPLE!!!
  12. I dont think that they have the depth chart right because LB Lance Brandenburgh is not starting over Bo Ruud. At least that is what I have been getting out of other web sights. Since I don't live in the great state of Nebraska any more I dont know. Someone fill me in.
  13. LINCOLN, Neb. – On the first day of spring the University of Nebraska campus was covered with about a foot of snow. Just like football season. And this spring bold statements have come from the Nebraska defense. Just like football season. A lot of attention was placed on Nebraska's growth in coach Bill Callahan's West Coast offense last year, but the defense's return to more characteristic form might have been a bigger factor in the Cornhuskers' rebound from a stunning 5-6 debacle in 2004 to a solid 8-4 finish in 2005. Associated Press Defensive end Jay Moore grew up dreaming of being a blackshirt. And with seven starters back the Cornhuskers defense expects to be even better in 2006. "With a flamboyant, outrageous defense like the Blackshirts out there it would be stupid to think we can't," junior linebacker Corey McKeon said. "Coach (Kevin Cosgrove) preaches to be humble, but as excited as we are and as good as we're playing it's hard to be humble." Each year Nebraska is routinely among the national leaders in producing cattle, corn and ornery defensive units. That's just part of the culture. Jay Moore, a senior defensive end, knows this all too well. He grew up in Elkhorn, Neb., still blames referees for the Orange Bowl loss to Florida State after the 1993 season and was a walking encyclopedia of Nebraska football by the time he was in the third grade. So, two years ago when he earned one of the coveted "black shirts" – the practice jerseys that Cornhuskers defensive players wear like a badge of honor – the significance was not lost on him. "It's a very respected status around here," he said. "When you come to play defense here your No. 1 goal by the time you leave is to earn one of those black shirts." The Blackshirts are college football's equivalent of the NFL's Steel Curtain, a perennially intimidating defensive unit with a really cool nickname. Yet, in some recent seasons the Blackshirts had gotten a black eye. In 2002 and 2004 the Cornhuskers did not even rank among the nation's top 50 in total defense. Not coincidentally those are the only seasons since 1969 in which Nebraska failed to win at least eight games. Indeed, in 2004 the Huskers ranked only 56th nationally in total defense and endured their first losing season since 1961. "It really came down to guys not doing their jobs," Moore said. "They weren't taking their responsibilities: maintaining this gap or getting in that coverage. We weren't disciplined at all." Blackshirts are back Returning starters on the Nebraska defense: DE Adam Carriker DE Jay Moore LB Steve Octavien LB Corey McKeon LB Lance Brandenburgh CB Cortney Grixby CB Zackary Bowman That could be at least partially explained by the uncertainty of playing under their third defensive coordinator in three seasons. Cosgrove, who turned down an offer to coach linebackers for the Minnesota Vikings, is entering his third season in Lincoln and has brought a measure of stability. Last season Nebraska made significant defensive improvement, reducing the yardage allowed from 371.5 in 2004 to 332.17 and improving from 56th in the national rankings to 26th. The Huskers also led the nation with 50 quarterback sacks. "We're starting to get that respect back, that swagger back," Moore said. Keeping it has been among the priorities this spring. Defensive end Adam Carriker, a 6-foot-6, 295-pound senior who led Nebraska with 13.5 sacks last season, has added 15 pounds of muscle and has dominated in the spring. In a recent scrimmage he recorded two sacks, blocked a kick and generally created havoc. "To block Adam Carriker you more or less have to get lucky," Cornhuskers offensive tackle Matt Slauson said. As good as Carriker has looked, he's not alone. Junior Steve Octavien, coming back from a broken leg suffered in last year's season-opening victory over Maine, has been active and impressive. Because of players like Octavien coming back from injuries, the Cornhuskers have at least six experienced linebackers. Nebraska is also set at cornerback with junior Cortney Grixby and senior Zackary Bowman, who got off to a slow start after transferring from New Mexico Military Academy but made impressive strides in the second half of the season. Bowman has continued to progress this spring. http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.....asp?CID=530878 Reading about the blackshirts on the front page of a web sight like RIVALS.COM just makes me even more excited to see that the Huskers are making that charge back to national prominence. GO BLACK SHIRTS
  14. IMO the way I think that you need to look at Lucky and Glenn is like this: They come from two very different schools of play. It is allot easier for Glenn to impress everyone with his "smash mouth" hit the hole as fast as you can and break as many tackles as possible type play. Lucky plays the faster, dance around and look for the cut back. Lucky needs allot more snaps to get the field vision that he needs to find those cut backs and be as highly rated in D-1 as he was in high school. USC had the one-two punch last year and it worked awesome and if you all don’t remember the 2001 CU vs NE game (where we got stomped) they had the same combo with Bobby Purify & Co. I think we are looking at a bright future with these two.
  15. I agree with sker ... Tech is going to be a tough team this year i am sure glad we dont have them on our schedual. They only lost their quaterback and the majority of their recieving core coming back. They are going to be a force this year. It would not surprise me to see them play in the BIG XII championship against the BIG RED!!!
  16. Nebraska Spring practice starts March 22, Spring Game April 15 The big spring question is ... How will all the top recruits from the last two years fit in? Obviously most of the 2006 class won't hit campus until later this summer, but the sensational 2005 group should start to show what it can do. Considering how big last year's class was, and how many JUCO players were brought in over the last two years, no team in the Big 12 should have a better upgrade of talent on the two-deep roster. The most important position to watch is ... Running back. Did you ever think you'd see the day when Nebraska would be dead last in the Big 12 in rushing? Of course, the increased emphasis on the passing game had something to do with it, but Callahan initially sold old school Husker fans that the offense would be balanced. Considering the talent in the Nebraska backfield, there's no excuse to see fewer than 100 rushing yards per game. Marlon Lucky, after showing next to nothing as a true freshman, has to live up to the hype. Spring attitude... This had better be the year the turnaround is complete. Beating Michigan in the Alamo Bowl was a fantastic feather in Callahan's cap after an awful 2004, and now it's time the program took the next step up and played for the Big 12 title. The North might be better than it was over the last few years, but it's not that great. http://www.collegefootballnews.com/2006/Sp...looks_Big12.htm I talked to a guy in my squadron today who is a HUGE Texas fan and he said he is more scared of the Huskers this year then he is of Oklahoma. Mostly due to our aggressive "smash mouth" defense And he asked "How come Nebraska is not ranked higher in the pre-season polls? I think they are gonna be one of the better teams this year." Seeing as how the BCS is not our best friend where do you think the Big Red should be ranked in the BCS pre-season 2006?
  17. I agree, the last thing Nebraska needs is another team to add onto the list that have bad excuses why they lost to us. I am looking for the D line to come away with a great game.
  18. HELL YEA CORY!!! It makes me smile every time you see the little guys with the biggest hearts come out on top. Love to see him play for the Colts. Maybe with him they might actualy go to a Super Bowl.
  19. I'd be alot happier to see Sanchez at QB and agreee with huskerfan8 ... I would love to see how well that green horn is going to deal with the Black Shirt defense this year. Carriker and Moore will eat him for lunch. Especially with the fact that we play them so early in the season. I think that USC vs NU is going to be a great game.
