  1. This is a very ignorant comment. NO ONE is to blame for this other than the idiot who called Coz himself. You are so hell bent on blaming everything on Callahan. People are such idiots about blaming Callahan for everything. Sure he deserves some blame for on the field stuff, but I've heard people blame him for taking the pictures down of past all-americans. WRONG! That was Pedey. I've heard people say Callahans the one who distanced the program from the past players. WRONG! That was Pedey as well. And now you blame Callahan for these death threats on Coz???!!!! HOW CAN YOU BLAME THIS ON CALLAHAN! Because he gave the guy a job and wanted to stick by him until at least the end of the season. This is probably THE MOST ignorant comment I have ever seen! I almost don't believe it's just the coaches bringing this program down, it's us fans that are pouring gasoline on this flaming jet while it's plummetting to the ground. This is just laughable to try to pin something else to Callahan!!! Well I was going to blow a gasket on this post but you pretty much said it all right there. Oh and Bulldonzer when you post something like this blaming someone who had ABSOLUTLY NOTHING to do with a death threat it normally has the opposite effect that you wanted.
  2. I hope you are right. But I don't know how fast the court is going to be willing to admit that its own officers did not arrest both men in the attack if found they where both at fault. The fact that the cops only arrest MO is gonna hurt him no matter what. I am still surprised that Cally had not made a descent statement concerning this situation. All we have heard from him is stiff arm "coach talk". I'd sure like to hear some concrete stuff rather then the gibberish we are getting on the boards. I am sure there is 1 or more on every KSU, CU, ISU web sight... BREAKING NEWS: "I have a ________ ( Cousin, Friend, Drug Dealer, Priest, Landscaper etc... ) that was there at the Alley the night the Nebraska receiver brutally assaulted that helpless bouncer" blah blah blah "He was so brutal and then he tried to assault the police officers because he was so high on PCP" Yeah he definitely should be removed from the team and never be allowed to play again. It's like the tabloids of the NCAA.
  3. As much as I appreciate the fact that this young lady came forward to tell her side of the story I don't know how much good it is going to do. The bottom line is that Purify let this FIJI ass wad get to him. The police are not going to care if there was words exchanged or if he provoked it. They will just say Maurice should have kept his calm and not let it escalate into a physical confrotation. Leave it is FIJI to kick their OWN university's team in the nuts . Way to go Josh way to think it through there lil' guy.. They have not come out with a decision on Mo's status in a week and a half, that is a good thing. Cally I am sure will take this statement into consideration but the police will not give a rat's butt.
  4. Now that is the best spin I have heard on this subject. Thanks for adding some humor to this dismal situation.
  5. All I know is if our DBs don't step it up. Pete Carroll is gonna pick on them all day just like last year. I really think he played it safe last year with us. Because Jarret could have picked on Grix the entire game and he could not have dont a thing about it.
  6. Anyone know what their projected pre-season ranking will be. If memory serves they where right around us. Cally really needs a win against a ranked opponent to kick of the year. I just hope Cally does not pull out all the stops on WF and does not leave any tricks for USC.
  7. In my humble opinion, Chase Daniels is almost as over rated as Brady Quinn . I believe he is a tremendous prospect and has alot to offer an NFL team that has the right components to let him work some magic. Here lies the problem ... Missouri does not have "all the right components" to give Chase Daniels the oporitunity to do the things he can. In response to AR Huskers question, their O-Line at Missouri is nothing I would say past average. They return 3 staraters and they have alot of injury. But that is not the real problem with Missouri. The biggest thorn in their side is the lack of the running game. If you can't run the ball then you can not keep the defense honest ... plain and simple. The Missouri running game is a 4 at best on a 10 scale. Chase Daniels might be a great QB but if Missouri is this cocky going into the 2007 season they are gonna have a rude awaikening when they play us.
  8. As many of you have said before "This happens at every college town...". If the report is true I think he is an idiot for putting his career in jeopardy. I do on the other hand (and I don't agree with it) this is becoming more and more of a trend in all college sports. Don't forget about what happend to the Miami - Florida Atlantic players . I mean one of them tried to kill the other with a helmet and got charged with assault. This was all on national TV with millions of viewers. Those players were only suspended? The NCAA had video evidence there. Mopure is a great wide reciever and a talented NFL prospect but as many of you know sometimes when you are up on "Cloud 9" You need something/someone to kick you in the junk to remind you that you still have to watch what you do. I am gonna expect the worse and hope for the best. .........I hate to say this husker nation but it would not surprise me if Cally made an example here.
  9. ... i mean they dont call Memorial Stadium the Tar Pit do they? Nope, there is a reason its called the "Sea of Red" ... and it is quite a sight to see at that. Yes I understand that we have the blackshirts but the last thing I want to do is run around in a color that is not part of my school's uniform.
  10. As far as the team goes I wish B-Jack had stayed with the team for another year. But for him personaly he made the right decision. I wish him the best of luck in Green Bay. It is awsome to see a legendary Husker running back being replaced by another Husker. I am sure he will do great things.
  11. Welcome to the board Fan4USC, hope to have some riveting discussing with you and the upcoming season. Well, you are definetly in for a treat, Husker game day in Lincoln is not something you can really you can put into words. Especially if you are use to USC "laid back" atmosphere because Lincoln Nebraska on a fall Saturday is anything but "laid back". In my opinion the best place to stay is the Embassy Suites Hotel off of P st. It is within walking distance of the stadium and normally have events going on the night prior to the game. The rooms do fill up fast though for gameday so I would not wait. Their websight is listed below. http://embassysuites.hilton.com/en/es/hote...ctyhocn=LNKESES As far as restraunts, well if you have never had a Runsa make sure you get one of those during the game. They are a definate treat. For pre-game "prime up" Barry's or the N-Zone is always good ... You probably will get razed a little for wear USC colors but our fans SHOULD welcome you nicely. I would hate to think the Husker Nation would degrade itself by acting inappropriatly to any opponent. Unless they come from a state that begins with the letter C and enjoy throwing biowaste on other people. I know that alot of Huskers are looking forward to this game more then any other this year so you should be in good company anywhere around Memorial Stadium. $300 -$500 a ticket? I personally have never paid that much at Memorial Stadium for a ticket. But this is prime time game so I would not count it out. Most games you can get a ticket from a scalper outside for a good price. I would not try that method for this game because the tickets will not be easy to come by. MODs correct me if I am worng but I am pritty sure ESPN College Gameday will be there outside the East gate. I am sure good ole' Herbstreit :asshat will be telling the entire nation how the Nebraska teams of the 90s sucked and how great USC is, and blah blah blah. I hope your trip to Lincoln is a memorable one and I am sure it will be a fantastic game. GBR
  12. All I know is if he had that kind of spring game in Lincoln, he would be stuck behind Beau Davis in the lineup.
  13. I have no doubt that Grant will turn that 54 game loosing streak that they have and turn it into a better more disciplined team. Those kids are lucky to have such a talented and prestigious assistant coach. Good luck to Grant and his future team.
  14. Sun Tzu say... you would expect to see a bird fly and you would expect to see a fish swim it is in their nature Therefore you can also expect a good general to have concern for the health of his troops, it is in their nature. I can't think of a QB that would not be concerned if one of his starting human meat shields went down. It is good to see that he takes a pro-active roll in the offensive line's condition but in my opinion behavior like that is should already be expected of him if he is to lead the Huskers into 2007.
  15. The biggest diffrence I saw between that two was Beck was all about ME ME ME ME ME. And when he didn't get what he wanted he ran behind moma's dress and let her assault the Husker nation with her purse. Luckly we had Sam Keller there to throw a cup at her to fend her off. Daily however did give it his all and dispite all the garbage that the husker nation dumped on him he took it all in stride and gave it his all. I think Eric the Red hit it right on the head. He was just not recruited properly for either system. I wish him the best of luck at reciever.
  16. Yes, Keller and Ganz both have their respective edges in this race but one thing I did not notice about Keller that definetly separated him was his release or the ball. Keller has a much quicker release the Ganz and when you have a blitz package coming at you that is worth a WHOLE HELL OF ALOT!!!
  17. Word from LJS is all the new recruites has nothing but great things to say at the Spring Game. Who needs the #1 recruiter in the nation? Well...... I am not gonna say it would not help BUT 50,000+ fans showing up to a SPRING GAME to show support is enough to make any 18 year old hot shot want to play there.
  18. Smells like turd covered in burnt hair!!!
  19. I am sure that Mo-purify with his height and vert leap alone are enough to give a corner/safety just the hint of worry. And he can catch The bottom line is guys: Swift has CONSISTANTLY caught that ball. Is he the most "skilled" or "talented" receiver out there. HELL NO!!! But if Swift had caught that ball against Texas that we fumbled, he would not have lost the ball and we MIGHT have won our first game against a big opponent. ALSO... I can go back through the games over the past two years and with the exception of Mo-purify's shinning moments last year he has been our most reliable receiving weapon. RELIABLE is the key word here. Yes, the new guys have alot of hype. HELL I am excited as any of you to see them out there scoring some points. But don't sell out a kid who has consistently made plays for a bunch of kids who have never set foot on Tom Oseborn field. ....... anyone remember a kid names .... oh what was his name ... oh yea .... Beck? We never saw the fruits of all of that rambling. Swift is a veteran and has shown her can perform. Bottom Line!
  20. Who was the last Husker to go in the Top 10 of Round 1? Anybody know?
  21. This kind of division is not good for the program any way you look at it. The worst thing is that these are guys that our younger players see as mentors, the alumni support at Lincoln is one of the best in the country, the last thing that I personally want to see is that get tarnished just because someone’s invitation got "lost in the mail". There are greater tragedies in life. And it does not matter if we run the Option offense or the West Coast. No matter the scheme, they are all still HUSKERS and they should start acting like it.
  22. I just returned home from "the big sand box" and found this article on Rivals.com . I don't think it has been posted yet but it does give good insight into both sides of the Keller/Ganz duel. I agree with all of you that the Spring Game will really clear alot of this up. But either way who ever comes out on top it makes me feel alot better that we will have a reliable backup, because lets face it. If Taylor would not have been tough as nails and gone down last year. Our QB situation would be FUBAR . Good to be back enjoy the article! GBR!!!! http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=662264 Make no mistake, only Nebraska football helmets will be worn on Sam Keller's head this year. That means absolutely no lamp shades. Associated Press Sam Keller is expected to emerge as the starter at Nebraska. "I'm not a party guy," Keller said after a recent spring football practice. "I'm a football guy." In Nebraska, where Memorial Stadium becomes the state's third most populated area on game days, football guy and party guy is often the same guy. If Keller were a party guy, as some of his former Arizona State teammates reportedly suggested to then-Sun Devils coach Dirk Koetter a year ago, it would presumably be OK at Nebraska. The school once welcomed heavy metal drummer Tommy Lee to campus for a reality television show. And he couldn't even throw touchdown passes. Keller definitely can, and that's a major reason the Cornhuskers again appear to be the team to beat in the Big 12 North. His presence figures to ease the loss of Big 12 player of the year and all-conference quarterback Zac Taylor, who completed a lot of passes and his eligibility while leading the Huskers to a 9-5 record and North Division supremacy last season. "It does help out a lot having a guy with game experience," Nebraska offensive coordinator Shawn Watson said. "He's played big games against some of the top teams in the country. He faced LSU and USC and was successful and had great games. It helps to have a guy who has been in front of the lights and played in crunch time." The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Keller threw for 461 yards and four touchdowns against LSU, and 347 yards and two touchdowns (but with five interceptions) against USC in 2005. He passed for 2,165 yards and 20 touchdowns with nine interceptions in just eight games before a hand injury prematurely ended his season. With Keller out of the lineup, Rudy Carpenter took over and led the Sun Devils to four victories in their last five games. That set up a fierce offseason competition which Keller thought he won when he was named the starter a week before the season began. But Koetter, who reportedly was approached by some Arizona State players who put their support behind Carpenter, changed his mind two days later. That must have hurt, but Keller - who immediately transferred to Nebraska - insists he has no hard feelings. "They made a business decision and I have to respect that," Keller said. "I made the decision (to transfer) and I never looked back. I feel blessed that I ended up in a place like this. Everything happens for a reason." Nebraska fans are hopeful the reason is that Keller is destined to throw scads of touchdown passes and lead the Cornhuskers to their first Big 12 championship since 1999, thus vaulting them back to national prominence. There is undoubtedly great potential for touchdown passes. Nebraska returns its top three receivers and four starting offensive linemen. "We've got some real horses out here," Keller said. "It's a neat thing to step in here and have those guys. They're talented and fast, and the depth is incredible. I feel like I can go anywhere with the ball, and that's a good feeling." But even if Nebraska equals its 32 touchdown passes of a year ago, there is no guarantee Keller will be throwing most of them. Once again he's in a competition for the starting quarterback job, this time with Joe Ganz. The junior QB has been in the Nebraska program since 2004. But Keller impressed his teammates quickly. "Joey is a product of the system and he goes through his progressions," senior linebacker Corey McKeon said earlier in spring practice. "Sam knows how to attack people and he has that experience. He will be looking for Maurice Purify every play. When he sees (cornerback) Cortney Grixby guarding Maurice Purify he knows where to put the ball to get a big play and he knows how to attack people. He knows when he's running a quick three-step drop slant play to look for Terrence Nunn or Nate Swift – two guys that can beat people with speed. He knows how to use his weapons. "That's something Joe hasn't been able to do yet because he hasn't been on the field much. It's hard to choose between that because you've got a guy that knows how to take advantage of a defense and you've got a guy that knows how to read a defense." Same Keller and Joe Ganz are competing for the starting role. Keller has thrown four touchdowns passes in a game four times. Ganz has thrown three in his collegiate career. Therefore, most observers feel Keller will emerge as the starter - although Watson said that won't be decided until August. However, he praised Keller's competitive drive, maturity and willingness to accept instruction this spring. "It's the first time he's actually been asked to operate and manage the offense," Watson said. "I think initially he was anxious, but he settled down and I saw a big breakthrough in his fourth practice. He managed us really well. I see him getting comfortable with the offense. He's locked in a pretty fierce competition and it should be interesting." Ganz's experience in the program does give him a bit of an edge. "Joey believes in what he can do and he has knowledge of the offense because he's been in it for four years," Watson said. "He knows what he's doing, he knows what we expect and he makes very few mistakes." That puts him one step ahead of Keller, who made one significant mistake this spring when he was charged with disturbing the peace, a Class III misdemeanor, for shouting and throwing a plastic cup at a female student who took a parking spot he was waiting for in a campus parking garage. Keller later apologized. Cornhuskers fans will forgive him, especially if he can make as much news with his throws in the fall. "The sky is the limit here," Keller said. "The standard at Nebraska is the national championship, so we're going to shoot for the stars. We have a lot of experienced players, so we're shooting high day-by-day." If that happened it wouldn't matter what Keller wore on his head. Nebraska fans would only see a halo.
  23. WoW Rutgers TOTALY got the shaft! They go from being possible National Champ qualified and they end up with KSU.
  24. Ok - Not to be an :asshat , but tell that to Bob Stoops and Pete Carrol... Not to be an :asshat But those coaches did not have to REVAMP and entire Football Program, state culture, or opinions of evey person around him. BC has taken a Bull and turned it into a Viper. Stoops and Carrol are great coaches .... but it was handed over to them in alot easier fasion then what Cally was given. He is winning the hearts of the people in Nebraska and that was the hardest part!!! I am lisening to the radio right now and he just said " Hell, throw bricks at my house all you want, It was my fault" That is a coach who puts himself in front of his players and shields them from the sh#t storm that the media constanly lays on them Those are the coaches that turn ordinary players into GREAT PLAYER GBR!!! He really said that? Pretty impressive. Yeah, he said it during the post-game show. When I heard that it shocked me so much that I had to insert it in the post I was writing.
