  1. I think the easy solution is moving the portal window opening until after all the bowl games are played. You'll still see players opt out who are going pro, but if there's no portal open, you wouldn't have as many players not available. For FSU, the reason he's leaving is because FSU went after portal QBs to replace him. FSU showed him no loyalty (which they should always try to get better, so I don't necessarily fault them for doing that) so he said screw you, I'm out and is showing them no loyalty (which he should always be looking for his best opportunity, so I don't fault him for doing that). NCAA could have prevented it all by saying portal window opens 01/10/24. Which makes it a lot harder to move since you won't be able to enroll in your new school in time to be able to participate in spring practices. So, it's a win-win, less players opt out and less players will hit the portal as soon as the season ends. More potentially in the summer window, but with no spring practice I think more players would be hesitant to opt for a change of scenery without the added benefit of extra practices with their new team.

I think the best two teams in each conference are Baltimore and San Fran as long as both are healthy. Both teams have the least amount of weaknesses. For the NFC, whichever team doesn't get the NFC East wildcard team in the second round will represent in the SB. Detroit, while it's a nice story, are paper lions that will get mauled by whoever they play in the second round, assuming the Lions even make it that far. Rams could pull an upset and make it interesting, but I don't think they are road warriors and capable of winning even two in a row on the road, let alone three. Dallas is well Dallas and will figure out a way to fall apart in January. Seahawks best chance for making the second round is getting Detroit in the first round, but that's about the only thing they will be able to do, if they make the playoffs at all. Nobody cares about the NFC South. In the AFC, KC doesn't have the skill players outside of Kelce to be much of a threat. Miami does, but if they have to go to Baltimore of Buffalo (very small chance of going to Buffalo) in late January in that potential bad weather, I don't think they have the dudes up front to be able to play a ball control, dink and dunk, run the ball offense. Buffalo is bipolar, or should I say Josh Allen is. One game he looks like he could be an MVP, the next it looks like he's never played organized football. I don't think they can be consistent enough to win 3 games against good/great competition to make it to the SB. Brownies are a nice story, and while Flacco does have winning SB experience, it's the Brownies and Flacco. They aren't a legit threat either. Nobody cares about the AFC South. Predictions: Ravens vs 49ers, I just don't see anyone beating either of these teams when they are healthy. Yes, there's always the punchers chance in a one game, but both teams are good to great in all three phases and just come at you in waves and are relentless and physical. They just beat you down. Ravens hosting the Lombardi, making other Harbaugh even more jealous and he takes the San Diego job.
  4. I haven't watched enough Nuggies games to notice that.
  5. And if Chris Paul is playing in a game ref'd by Scott Foster it's going to be a very bad day for Chris. Refs are not great, they do call games differently, even mid-game the change how they officiate games. I'll use an easy example for this, prior to this year, watch games where Draymond got one Tech. Countless games he would/should have gotten a second tech but the refs didn't give him one. He's an easy one since he has so many, but most 'star' players and coaches are given carte blanche after getting their first tech. Refereeing in the NBA is wildly inconsistent from crew to crew and game to game from the same crew. It's hard to watch as a fan seeing it. I don't know how you fix it though. These are the best of the best players, playing faster than most realize and then selling minimal contact. I've said this about soccer and I'll say this about the NBA, you can't fix the selling of contact during live play. What needs to happen is after every game, independent panel of referees to watch the game, from all the angles and if a pre-determined percentage see a blatant selling of a foul assess a tech/yellow card to that player. For example, have 10 independent refs watch the game and if 7 or more see a flop, player gets a tech, if it's 6 or less, no tech retro applied. Follow the same accumulation rules about suspension. Once a player gets suspended a game or two from this, players will stop selling minimal contact and games (in theory) would be easier to ref. This won't eliminate the bias of a Scott Foster or others, but hopefully will help more become like Tony Brothers.
  6. Would 2Pac even want them back? This whole re-alignment mega conference thing is ridiculous. If the ACC does dissolve and the Power Three expanding again, there may be room in either the BigTen or BigXII for OSU/WSU/Cal/Stan to find a home.
  7. I've talked to a few different P5 assistant coaches in two other sports and they have all said once a kid commits, the stop recruiting and focus on uncommitted players.
  8. If/when FSU leaves, Miami and Clemson will walk out the door that FSU opened. One step closer to the Big 3. FSU, Miami, Clemson (and maybe ND in all sports besides FB--or Georgia Tech) to the BigTen, then SEC and BigXII will figure out if any of the basketball schools would be worth picking up.
  9. All coaches hate when they get poached and want that to stop, but also will then try to poach someone else. Very hypocritical, the recruiting world is a dirty business. This seems to be a FB only problem as well. You don't see this in other sports. When an athlete commits, coaches stop recruiting him/her.
  10. We've had luck in the past moving a TE to C, wonder if that move would be in the cards for him.
  11. I could be wrong, but this implies he has a non-commitable offer from PSU. Might as well commit to Nebraska and get his spot before they run out and he's stuck at craphole school like Syracuse.
  12. Because of the ownership rights that OSU and WSU have I wonder instead of joining the WCC, if they can say the WCC merged and is now the PAC12. Has a little more value in name recognition to use PAC12 instead of WCC.
  13. If he wants to ring chase, his best two options are SF and Baltimore. Anyone else and it won't happen.
  14. It's now just Avengers 5. Some reports that after season 2 of Loki, there's no need to recast/bring back Kang and can pivot to a new major villain, maybe a Kang variant in Dr. Doom or a Magneto.
  15. Indefinite suspension for Green. Good. Probably also means there are negotiations between the NBA and the NBPA ongoing on the length of suspension.
  16. There is that possibility too that with Raiola coming, we don't have as much NIL to spread around.
  17. He would be the starter from day one here. DR is going to redshirt, and no one currently on the roster can compete with McCord. I'm guessing McCord doesn't want to rush a decision.
  18. If he doesn't get a Ja Morant length suspension, the NBA will need a new commissioner. Clearly 1-5 games isn't enough for Dray to understand the line he should not cross.
  19. It's a good idea, and it definitely helped make the start of this season more competitive and less load managing. Now that it's over, teams will revert back to load managing until February or so. Extending the IST and have winning the tournament mean something besides cash will help make it have a lasting impact. Once the novelty of the IST wears off, I suspect we will see more of the same in terms of load managing.
  20. I really didn't think the pieces they assembled would fit. Thought the twin towers look would be a liability on defense as neither are good wing defenders and I wasn't sold on that combo being good enough on offense to off-set their defensive liabilities. So far, they are proving me wrong. We'll see if they can maintain that over the next 75ish% of the season. It'll be interesting to see how the West shakes out and how the trade deadline mixes things up. I'm really hopeful we are seeing the start of a new dynasty in OKC, really love the young pieces they have and they have SO MUCH draft capital they can probably make some splash moves to help push them to the next level.
  21. He must be limiting this to the college football subset. Otherwise, I could direct him to a plethora of threads right here on HB that will have a dumber group of people than Prime fans.

hellova comeback by the Titans tonight.
  23. SOA jumped the shark for me during the Ireland season. Just lost interest in it. I think I muscled through at least one more season, but don't think I finished and have no desire to start Mayans.
  24. I've watched the first 3 seasons and lost it in the shuffle when season 4 came out. Need to go back and finish it up. I loved the first three seasons.
