  1. I dunno, our system is more designed to spread the ball to about 7 or 8 different receivers a game i think that's only because no reciever has really stepped up. Even Mo seemed to get shut down by the more physical defenses. The ball might still get spread around a bit, but the catches are there for someone to step up and take
  2. i think we are/were badly in need of a center in the not too distant future. He's listed as an OT. sorry, i misunderstood. i thought you were talking about Ricky Henry instead of Grant.
  3. i think we are/were badly in need of a center in the not too distant future.
  4. I'm wondering a bit about this too. is this kid really a diamond in the rough, or are we getting really desperate at TE?
  5. doesn't look like his team has got much of an offense either. Only once did they reach 20 and 5 times were held to single digits. yikes!
  6. I found a site that is kinda related to this subject. It shows what each teams schedule looks like for the forseeable future: http://www.nationalchamps.net/NCAA/future_schedules/ It's kinda nice place when you want to compare what we are doing vs what other are doing.
  7. MN won the wrestling National Championship this past year. Yeah, my mistake. They had one guy win his class or something (i don't follow wrestling, so i don't know much about the sport). Overll they came in second. http://www.cyclones.com/ViewArticle.dbml?S...p;ATCLID=828862 Like i said, i don't know much... but second in the nation sounds pretty good.
  8. Heard Colorado has been put on probation. The penalties are $100,000 fine and the loss of one scholly that last three years. Something about the trainers overcharging/undercharging student athletes for meals.
  9. There has been talk of CU leaving for the Pac 10. A lot of things make sense for CU to make the move; however, the Pac 10 would probably only do so if they simultaneously add another team to make a 12 team league and switch to a division format with a title game like the SEC and B12 now. Such a move is probably a ways off, it were to ever happen. But it is a real threat. There is also talk of the big 10 extending to 12 teams too. The 11 teams makes scheduling weird, and the incredibly bad luck of having the better teams miss playing each other in the same year has given the conference a bit of a black eye. Naturally, they would most like ND as the 12th team. But who knows if ND is ever going to want to take it. The question then becomes, do they hold it open or just go ahead and find someone else. Mizzou gets mentioned a lot as another possibility. There's also an article going around about how the big12 has a tough time of keeping up financially with the other leagues: http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=223778
  10. Does the B12 have a television contract with any network? Or is it just tied to the NCAA? I thought we had a deal with Fox Sports. They couldn't cover their allotment or something, so ended up farming out many of the games to TBS in the past. Thus when TBS signed the rights to the MLB playoffs, Fox had to find another contractor. Which they did in ESPN, making a strange partnership. Long story short, yes. I believe the league has a contract with someone, i'm just not sure who.
  11. heard he didn't make it yesterday and has rescheduled for July.
  12. Key is do we produce more $ for the conference than we receive? Yes, and no. We probably bring in more money to the table than many of the other schools. However, without the conference, i don't think we get the TV contract and thus losse our share of this money. While we would probably stand a better chance on our own than ISU or KSU would, we all benefit greatly by banding together for the sake of network money than to try it on our own.
  13. My first thought we be that it's a bad idea... But honestly i have no idea if it would work or not. Money is always the big issue, so could NU bring in enough by itself? Could we get a contract with a cable company like ND has with NBC?
  14. i checked huskers.com too and nobody on the team is from Tyler. Yet that town is familiar for some reason in recruiting. hmmm... must've been the home town of a recruit last year that we didn't get.
  15. If i'm not mistaken, i think Baylor came in second for the most Big 12 championships this year in all sports. ISU also just win the NC in wrestling too i think. Can't look at everything from a football standpoint, or any one single sport. Basketball wise, i don't think the other teams would mind shucking us in favor of some MVC teams.
  16. From what i understand, conference affiliation has more to do with academics than anything else. At least that's how things are looked at when one team is looking at joining another league. In this way, i don't think NU has much chance of joining the big 10 even if the powers that be in Lincoln wanted to. The bigger worry is what to do if CU bolted for the Pac 10? There is also the possibility that Texas or another of the south might leave for the SEC. What happens to the big 12 if that were to occur, and what does NU do?
  17. Didn't one of our recruits from last years class come from Tyler, TX?
  18. I wasn't aware Oregon St. beat the crap out of MU. Looked like a pretty competitive game. I also wasn't aware MU was one of our conferences better teams. I thought they were more around the middle. ______________________________________ I would agree that the Pac 10 is a weak conference after USC. Winning two bowl games against the MU and A&M doesn't do much to convince me otherwise. Just reaffirms my belief that last year was a down year for our conference. A lot of youth and rebuilding going on. ASU, Cal and UCLA all lack consistency. Arizona was destroyed by Mackovik, and it's been taking time to build them back up. Similarly so with Washington. As i understand it, USC re-emergence has taken a toll on the Oregon brothers in recruiting. Wazzu remains a tough place to play, but there pretty light on the road. This isn't to say it's a bad conference. I just don't see much to it in football after USC. Who else is consistently a BCS level team?
  19. I have to think that if the staff isn't looking at him, it is because they are looking at better prospects. It's their call as to who is deserving of an offer, and i trust their call. Sucky situation with Biere being an in-state TE and going to KU. But i don't blame him or the staff for how things turned out. Good luck to him in Lawerence.
  20. fwiw, i heard Gabbert has been talking to Gray a lot. He is supposedly liking our O line class and the idea of running behind them.
  21. I am hearing he just committed within the last hour. Can anyone verify that, or heard likewise?
  22. rumor on the ESPN board via rivals says that an unidentified recruit will be comitting to us around 1:00 this afternoon. Said recruit is a three star lb, and with hope of moving up to four in the future. If this rumor is true, as well as the one about meeting with Coz, sounds like Fisher is a good bet to be the committ in question.
  23. I've heard else where that we are more or less his second choice. So long as LSU doesn't offer, he will be coming here.
  24. From what i've heard else where, that is most likely what it is. After the addition of Sullivan and Blue last year, Corey was likely to switch to safety. And at safety, we have guys that are bigger and more athletic than Corey. Again, this is based on what i heard elsewhere.
  25. I don't disagree with your intentions, but i don't any way to keep this from being abused. I can already imagine a bunch of miami players living at alumni beach front vaction homes
