  1. I am sorry but I disagree a little on one of the points in the last post. To say we are not even on the same level as USC is not correct. We just lost to the #10 team in the nation by 3 points (probably should have won) who beat Florida. We had Texas beaten. Our talent level is almost as good and as you may have seen, Boise State did it against Oklahoma. Team chemistry, coaching, game plan, attitude and heart go a long way in football. I would say we may be underdogs against USC next year (slight underdog) but we definately have a better than average chance of beating them. We ARE in their class. Why is everyone so negative? College football is as wide open now as ever. Lets win em' all I say.
  2. Personally, I could care less who starts as long as we win. But from what I have heard (not completely inside stuff or anything) is that Keller is almost unstoppable on the scout team. Ganz has looked good in what little playing time he has had, but I can't honestly see him starting over Keller. A good competition in Spring Ball would bring out the best in both and just make the TEAM better.
  3. And just one more small comment. The OU fans were very impressed (the ones I talked to at the game and at the Marriot) with our team. They were wondering why we threw the ball so much and thought our D-line was unbelievably good. They were very relieved Thompson had a very good game for the most part. Also they were relieved that our cornerbacks and safeties were subpar.
  4. They weren't near as loud as we were. Taylor and the Huskers had absolutely no problem hearing (except for the drums beating from the band) Is there a rule about how long a band can play while the opposing team is getting plays? Can they go until the opposing team breaks the huddle? Anyway, Thompson and his boys didn't execute at all well (again except that one long drive) and I believe it was in part because we WERE loud. Of course it isn't going to be as loud as Memorial stadium. I don't know where they (ABC) put the microphones but if it was on the OU sideline then I can see where you might have the impression OU fans were loud. But it wasn't the case. To assign blame to our Nebraska crowd and to be dissappointed in how we cheered is unfair. We were definately pumped. Deflating any enthusiasm we had were the turnovers and inefficiency of the offense when we got to around the 30 yard line everytime.
  5. I was at the game (section 217, right above the OU Band). We were screaming just as much as anybody else. I couldn't hear anything for much of the game. That side of the field had just as many OU fans as Nebraska fans (50/50). If their band wasn't banging on those damn drums then you would have barely heard them. They were louder at the end of the game because there were so many empty seats on the other side of the field. I thought we were a big factor, contrary to most of your beliefs. They had exactly 1 big play and one long drive. For some reason everybody thinks they outplayed us because we weren't noisy. I beg to differ. They didn't execute very well at all.
  6. My cousin scored six tickets (he is living in Denver). I assume we will be with CU fans. We will raise a ruckus and be decked out in RED. Go Huskers!!!
  7. Listen, I agree that our dback play has been shoddy at times this year, but this kind of play is going around all across the nation. Many of the better athletes are Wide Receivers who are incredibly gifted. And to say that our dbacks are the worst is way over blown. Even the best have crappy days. The Texas dbacks last night were horrendous. Do I wish ours would be better playmakers? Of course. Do I wish they could support our run defense more by making some tackles? Sure. We have become very used to having some absolutely wonderful safeties the past 10-15 years. We can't have Mike Browns or Mike Minters or Bullocks brothers every year. I know we would like that, but it just doesn't happen all the time. We will get better.
  8. The linebacker play today was the worst I have seen in years. The secondary blew it twice, but the linebackers were either (1) out of position (caught inside more times than I could count) or (2) in position but not getting off blocks or (3) not making tackles. Ruud was a non-factor throughout the game. Where were their heads today. It looked like The Missouri game last year, the Kansas game last year. I am disheartened. I still think they should win the north but another performance like that and we could lose at least 2 more games.
  9. I think that the intercepter's knee hit the ground at one point while he had the ball. In college, he is down immediately then. I might be wrong. I haven't seen a replay. But if his knee didn't hit the ground then it is a live ball.
  10. Good one. Panico rocked!!!! Just catch the ball is all I am saying. Go Huskers!
  11. One more thing. I was taught in 7th grade (probably before that for many of you) that when you are a punt returner, if you can't return it AT LEAST fair catch. I freakin almost loose my mind everytime that we fail to do this simple task. It cost us soooo much momentum today. It may have cost us a score in the first quarter and definately put them in position for their 1st TD. That is at least 10 points directly related to catching a freakin punt. If Nunn or Swift are afraid to do this then find someone else who will.
  12. Callahan is getting better every week. His play calling in the second half this week was very good. I don't even blame him for the 2nd quarter fiasco today. Taylor needs to throw the ball quicker (on blitzes) or get rid of it (out of bounds). Callahan does need some serious work on clock management. My son (who is 12 even asked me why they weren't calling a time out after that 1st down and goal for Texas.) We could have had the ball back with about 50 seconds left to kick a field goal with the wind. However, this loss is just unfortunate. We had it and Texas took it away. Simple as that. We will get them again later on and hopefully the score will be reversed.
  13. I hear ya. Just one other observation. Shanle and Green are not fast enough, or do not have the game instincts for some reason to play a solid Cover 2. I know Grixby looked like he was getting beat alot but I am more concerned about the safety play. I think I just got spoiled with all the great safeties we have had in the past. (Especially in the 90's)
  14. I have a question about our offensive gameplan. Where were the dump offs or screen passes to our backs tonight. That is a big part of this offense and we failed to capitilize on a weapon that would have took advantage of their constant blitzing. The fullback would have been open all night. I know we have wonderful recievers but with the way Kansas was playing we should have used Lucky, Wilson, Jackson, Glenn out of the backfield.
  15. Just finished viewing the videos. Looked allright. The wideout (#2) was the man though. I know it is JUCO, but holy cow. Looked like he would make a terrific TE in the West Coast offense.
