  1. Welcome to the board. It's the best Husker board there is imo! Hope you enjoy your stay
  2. Back to the topic. It's great to see that his teammates have really been trying to keep him in line. Keller always wanting to throw, and others lifting weights will really pay off imo. It really shows how tight of a group this is, and through the controversy, they stick together.
  3. Yeah Skers, I think he will see playing time...Nunn is the starter, and Peterson is also listed there, if you want to incorporate the depth chart for the position. Surprisingly, NU is fairly deep at WR this year, but if the drops come back, Paul will get a look. I think he will anyway, IMO, based on the large amount of WR's Callahan uses in the offense. Well if Nunn is the starter at that position Paul may edge Peterson out next year. I like Peterson alot, even though he is slow he does catch most balls thrown at him, but I have seen Paul play in high school, and he is amazing.......damn our WR's will be good for a long time! I hope you're right...time to start getting some 4 and 5 star recruits...I haven't seen any clips of Paul...who does he remind you of? He is Ahman Greens Nephew!......I'd have to say Anthony Gonzales from OSU. He has good speed, great hands and plays bigger than he really is at 6'1" 210. He is pretty evasive but he seems to like to lay the boom if he runs out of space, and isnt scared of the middle. All in all a very solid WR for the Huskers as a fairly speedy possesion guy. And he really knows how to dominate the opposing player. He has great hands, and in every game last year, he was alwyas out-muscling the opponent. I am so excited to watch him play another four years at my school, after I saw him play three at my high school! GBR You went to North? Yeah. It was awesome watching him play.

  5. The positions are filled with Callahan's "guys." His type of players, that fit his system. And that's why these recruits want to come here. They see an offense that had so-so talent the past few years improve all the time, and now that most of the 2-deep are Callahan's guys, they see the potential of themselves, and realize, wow with those guys, who were lacking the skills I have, the team didn't do too bad, which makes them think that they could do even better. It's just a really exciting time to be apart of Husker Nation right now!
  6. If we come out winning, we can't lay an egg against Ball State, but if we lose, we need to show that we can rebound well from it, win big against Ball State, and go into Big XII play strong.
  7. I just don't understand how it's disrespect? Are the USC fans going to see that and say, "wow they are horrible because look, they're excited." NO! Like I said in the first post, we did this two times within 2 years, in 92 and 94, against sCUm. The first game ended with us winning 52-7, and we took them down. And Tom was the coach then, and I don't remember hearing anything about how he thinks we're classless because we celebrated a little. So now that we want to get excited we are suddenly not the best fans in college football? You often point out how we have a lot to prove, and there is plenty to be done before we are considered "back." Well then celebrate a little if we pull this off.
  8. It's because of that consecutive sellout streak of 4! Obviously they have the best fans in the country!
  9. If you see his 40 times over the past year, you can tell this guy wants to get better. At one point it was around 4.58, then 4.53, and the latest 4.4. He wants to be a great running back, and it shows with these improved times.
  10. It will be interesting to see how much he gets the ball with Brennan trying to throw for 70 tds this season. well he could be a huge threat receiving... remember he was a athlete when he came here and I believe he tried playing CB, S, WR, and RB while here. He just wanted to be a RB so we made him that and then he realized he wouldn't play so he bailed and it turns out that was a bad move so far seeing as he would have played quite a bit with all the injuries last year. That's true. I hope he does well there though. With the amount of passing, he could be a great threat out of the backfield.
  11. Im hoping your right there, cuz Mandel brought up a point in an article that callahan got all these recruits because "our offense was bad, and he could garuntee quick playing time" Im not really believing that, but im not throwing it out the window as a possibility. Hope its not true. Four years ago he could have said that, and it was true, because the offensive guys were meant to run the option, so of course anyone coming in could play right away. But now, he can't really say that. We have a lot of good, solid qb's in our system, and yet one of the best qb's in the country is coming here to play. He's not just going to be handed the job. He has to earn it, and that's how it is with the rest of the positions. Since Callahan has been recruiting for 4 years, his players are finally here all over the place. There is only a couple holdovers from the previous staff now, and players want to come here and learn from these guys. This offense especially. It sets up for what the majority of NFL teams run. And if you already have a grasp on it, it only can help you at the next level. While Marlon Lucky came here, with plenty of expectations, he didn't do too well right away. Some people say it's because he wasn't ready. I think it could have been that, but it's not like he had the line that Gray will have over the next few years. Now that these type of guys are joining the program, everyone wants to be involved. It's just a great time right now. GBR
  12. I think we cover. I know they aren't a pushover, but it's the first game, new players, a lot of excitement. I think we win big.
  13. It will be interesting to see how much he gets the ball with Brennan trying to throw for 70 tds this season.
  14. absolutely! that's exactly the attitude we all need to be feeling right now. and after we beat usc i think we will be damn close to top 10 if not in it we should be in it, going 3-0 and sending the #1 team home crying with soar booty's, i think that will put us in the top 10 I think we would be around 7 or 8 if we beat them. The first two wins, with some other losses would bump us up 4 or 5 spots imo. Some early games have ranked teams battling, and if we show up well against Nevada and Wake I could see us at 14 against USC. Then number 7 if we win. GBR!
  15. I agree. Keller and Asante bring this team to a whole new level imo. Can't wait for the season to start!
  16. Yes, but NOT tearing down the posts would be a positive thing for everybody watching the game that isn't used to the tradition of Husker Football. CLASS ACT fellas How is tearing down the goal posts not being a class act? Just because we get excited, and want to storm the field, suddenly we're not being classy or anything. There is nothing wrong with this imo. We haven't done much of anything since we beat OU in 2001. There was no reason to storm the field then. We were #2 in the country and were about to be at the top of the world. We won't be near the #2 spot, and if we do pull of this monumental victory that would finally bring us back into the talk of college football, then what is wrong with celebrating? We're not going to go down to 72nd and proclaim us champions, but I think tearing down a couple of posts would be just fine.
  17. Listened to the guys interview. Said he's interested in bringing in a big time wr and db. Exciting time right now! GBR! Welcome Jonas!!!
  18. And NY has some good prospects, so that would be another thing the Big 10 would be excited about.
  19. I think they will eventually get Rutgers. They are on the rise, and the NY tv market is too big to be passed up, and I think the Big 10 wants that.
  20. Hmmm... In Stewart Mandel's mailbag, he makes some interesting points about the Huskers going to the Big 10. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see it.
  21. I didn't know that either. Definately allows for all the auto's to be obtained.
  22. If all that is done is to continue to give excuses and reason why Nebraska cannot win a game aginst these programs all you are doing is perpetuating the myth that Nebraska can not play with the big boys. And the attitude that "The 90's are gone and are never coming back" make me want to go break something. The late 90's were excellence plain and simple. Go read the mission statement for most D-1 programs, and I bet that the word excellence is in there somehwere. They are supposed to strive for excellence, its ok for people to expect it. SO, cards on the table? If "we" (I meant the Nebraska football team by the way) leave it all on the field but still lose 4 to 5 games, then I'm sorry but I think that really sucks. I will then write a letter to Steve Pederson and tell him that my annual donation will stop until the program represents something I can be proud of. I have memories of Nebraska shelling their opponents, winning conference and national championships, winning cleanly AND leaving it on the field. Further, my best crowd exp. at Memorial Stadium didn;t involve a home team loss, like has been said by members on this board. Again, if Callahan is such an incredible coach (and I do have faith in him by the way) then he can make this year a success. Once again, it is OK to expect a lot from people every now and again. Blind loyalty towards mediocity and underachieving is not what a good fan makes, its what spawns the lovable loser persona that I frankly want no part of. I agree. We can't make excuses of almost being there and whatnot. There can't be losing to OSU, or Mizzou anymore. There is no reason too. We have too much talent now, that our only problem should be the top teams. Any more that 2 losses in our regular 12 games would be disappointing to me. I don't care if we are playing in Columbia, and it will most likely be a night game. We should kick the sh!t out of them. Our offense is too good to be messing around and not scoring in the 2nd half. We NEED to step up this year. No more messing around.
  23. Wow. Now I really hope we beat USC, if not just to shut his a$$ up. GBR
  24. I can believe it .....anyways they're always overated. I respect this poll though it doesn't have everybodys favorite school notre dame That's because they won't be in the top 16 this year
  25. I think there are a lot of great points made so far but mixing it up seems to be the biggest plus. With the 3-4, we may keep the QB guessing a bit more pre-snap ie....where is the fourth rusher coming from. Blitz somebody. I remember in the 96 Fiesta Bowl against Florida, Pavelka said that there would always be an extra guy coming in, but it would be a surprise from which direction. They would bring up 7 guys, but 3 would drop back to cover. Florida never knew what hit them. I think it would be interesting to do something like that. Keep the O on it's heels, don't let them do anything. I like the 3-4 though. Just don't give up big runs.
