  1. Osborn said he has no intention of making any changes until after the season is over. He did not say Cally wasn't going to make any changes. He did not say that BC wasn't going to resign, he did not say that someone wouldn't get run over by a bus and we'd be forced to make a change. TO was good and still is. Granted he could not walk on water but it is quite possible that he could ski barefoot at one time. Not everything is in his control. TO did not lie, to say such is well everyone can insert their own colorful comment, but things change and sometimes they change fast without warning.
  2. Sounds from his "excellant" job comments he's been listening to way to many of those discount self improvement tapes in the car on the way to the office each morning. I'm guessing he played one for at least 30 minutes before the press conference. "I am an excellant coach, I can achieve great things by using my talent. The world is at my disposal because I am the best coach in the Big XII. I am confident, I an the solutiong, only I can make a difference." sorta like that. Pedy's went something like this "I am the savior of Huskerland, only I can save them. People like me, people like me, people like me. Yes I am a likeable guy. People respect me. I am a great leader. Etc.
  3. you should change your sig to "bank on it" by the way thanks for the info so far On the other hand there's a new sheriff in town and his name is TO. Your buddy might want to keep a lid on the information pipeline for a while. Letting out inside info tends to shorten ones career.

    Watson?

People are taking the "anyone but Callahan" approach. What has Watson done? Well tell me this..what could he have done!? It's hard to show what you got when you can't even perform the job you are assigned because Billy C is in charge. Watson is like a backup QB with the starting QB not doing so well. Everyone loves the backup QB because he is the guy that comes off the bench to see if he can get the team rolling. Not saying I want Watson as interim HC or that he's great or anything, but don't downgrade him for being sheltered under Callahan. Also I think he could play call a hell of a lot better than Callahan. With Callahan calling plays, we have no chance in coming back if we are down in a game. Sometimes when we are down late in a game, we do a better job at getting negative rather than positive yards and thats just sad. I understand your thoughts regarding what he's done here but what did he really do at CU. I'm just afraid folks simply remember the 63-36 debackle that still frosts my hide, and that's all. Was he there when we owned them? Was he there after they beat us? How many top 10, 15, 20, or 25 offenses were at CU while he was there? I don't know. They could have had the 10 offense in the country every year he was there but I have my doubts

    Watson?

I agree. I just don't get why so many are on the Watson band wagon. What's he done, really?
  6. Husker fans. I am curious why does everyone speak so highly of Watson? Yest I know the 63-36 thing still makes my blood boil but does one game against a poor defense make a great coach. I guess I just don't see it from his years at CU that he was all that special. Besides it doesn't take an offensive genius to run the ball, run the ball run the ball etc.
  7. This weekend we find out if the any of the players has any faith in the coaching staff. If they come to play then we have our answer and all is not lost. If they don't show up again then the season is over. The removal of SP from his post is truly a shot across the bow for the entire coaching staff. With out a doubt Coz's days are numbered. In all likelihood so are the days of this entire staff. If ever there was a reason for this team to band together this season it is now. We will know come Saturday.
  8. I'm thinking a Pedy, BC and Coz skit along the lines of Larry Mo and Curly is about due...................well maybe it's already going on for real behind closed doors. Realistically though as I've stated in the past I do like BC. Always have. There are issues there and if BC can adapt, change etc. he could be the real deal but that is a big if. In my mind here is what I feel might be a good solution. BC stays but Watson (whom I've never been a fan of but I'll give him a shot) gets the chance to call the plays from the booth. Coz gets the ax, never been a fan and even if he puts out a decent defense I just don't know that I can get over what he's done here. TO becomes the AD - but thats about like the parting of the red sea. BC and company would be on the run before TO could make the drive into the office. The problem isn't a lack of fire on the part of the head coach. The problem is a head coach/manager who has brought in too many people with a personality like his own. You need a mix. You need doers, thinkers, communicators etc. It appears that BC and Coz were cut from the same mold. This doesn't work. It doesn't work in business and it doesn't work in a coaching staff.
  9. Wasn't Pete Carroll more defensive minded, same for Stoops. I have a poor memory
  10. Yes those were in fact meltdowns as you said however this is one team in one season. Simply leave out the Solich years or look at most programs in the top 20 at the end of the season and I believe you will see some teams that made large strides between game one and the bowl game.
  11. Dear Mr. Pederson, Please contact Bill Cower to find out if he is available.
  12. This is just an observation but aside from the present concern for the program and the long term effects of the season ahead I have been bothered by one thing more than any since BC arrived. I have been accustom to the Osborne teams and even the Solich years where the team came out in the first game of the year and really didn't look that good but generally good enough to win. I always acredited it to getting the timing down between QB, RB's and even recievers. Game two was a little better but not much, game 3 generally more improvement and by game four they were playing pretty good but continued to improve throughout the year on both sides of the ball. In the Callahan years thus far it always appears that what you see at the beginning of the year is what you get for the balance. I just dont' see great improvement between game one and game eleven as I do with most teams. It's bothered my for a while and I'm just not sure why.
  13. Don't forget Purify. He's working so hard you'd think he was at the NFL combines.
  14. Good article yes and it brings to point that the buck really stops at the top. Firing BC or Coz right now isn't the answer. Firing SP right now isn't the answer either. Firing SP at the end of the season now that's a different deal. SP has made some tough decisions since coming to Nebraska. He made all of them wrong but tough decisions just the same. For all the staff who's lives have been tied to the program who have left, who you've fired we bid you fairwell but will be glad you left. For all the staff who's families, who's roots etc. are tied to Nebraska and have left anway we bid you fairwell.
  15. He'll turn it around and then they'll find a way to get both of them on the field at the same time. Q had as much heart as anyone two years ago. It's still there, he's just got to find a way to get to it and he will.
  16. "I believe that US American Husker fans don't have play books and such as and so forth and the Iraqs and Asias and Africas need out help with playbooks and coaching and offensive defensive production to put up points and things and such as etc. so that we can build a better place for football all US American Husker fans and Frank Solich could further the cause of the future for those who need a future including all US American Husker fans and so forth.".......................... Miss Tean South Carolina Now don't we all feel much better, smarter and no Frank ain't coming back.
  17. Fire this coach fire that coach etc. I understand everyones being upset but man is this getting old. How about looking at it this way. Coz like the D players has gotten kicked in the mouth. Lets see how he reacts for the rest of the season. Yes he didn't have a great record at WI but we're in this for the season. Lets wait and see what happens. Coz, BC, SP, the Chancelor, the players and the fans all have something riding on each game from here on out. No garantees, everyone needs to pull together, suck it up and put forth a good fight and let the chips fall where they may. Then at the end of the season if changes need to be made so be it. For now I say lets see if all of us can bet a little better at our part and do what needs to be done. Fans cheering and making real noise, no more booing. D line knocking heads so the LB's can clean house, Coz letting the kids find a way to have fun and get the fire back, SP keeping quiet so as not to make things worse, BC fighting for the kids, coaches etc. where needed. It's like someone sucked all the life out of the program and the fans. No all that's left is the whining. Coaches, fans and players alike should be ticked everytime someone takes a shot at them. Once the season is over then eval.
  18. I was thinking after all the booing and criticism and the talk of a black out at the game wouldn't it be great if someone produced a "we got your back" black shirts to show support for the players. I have my doubts that they are playing poorly on purpose thus something from the fans as a sign of support rather than the booing might be a good shot in the arm to light a fire or two. Maybe by the end of the season they could earn a helmet and cross bones black shirt. I dunno just throwing it out. Go Huskers! Let's see a return of the blackshirt team, attitude and confidence.
  19. Not trying to start anything but, have we added any names to the academic All-American list in the past few years. It was once a really big deal.........back when Tom could not win the big one and we needed something to brag about. I can't recall the last time it came up in the press.
  20. I'm way too tired to read all these posts but here's my take. The guy just isn't having fun anymore. The entire defense looks like they arent' having fun anymore. Please don't hit me with the scholly thing and getting paid and a job to do. If you've ever had a really lousy job you'll understand the point I'm going to make. When football is fun the kids, young men, pro's or whatever have fire and passion for the game. These guys got none of that right now. You get the fun by doing your job well, having success and feeling good about things. You loose that when you don't feel like you can contribute or are put in a position where you can't contribute or do your job. The problem IMO (all be it a weak and uneducated opinion) is this. No fun, no play well. So we ask why aren't they having fun. Sorta coverd that. Now whats the cause. My personal opinion is this it's one of two things. Q mentioned they can't blitz because guys are missing assignments and you get burned bad when that happens. To me this says Defensive line isn't cutting it. The other thing is what I call zone defense. It's mentality that gets drilled into kids when they are coached too aggressivley about things like "this is your area and your assignment". If the ball comes your way you get it or if it goes to the other guy it's his job to get it. It just seams like the guys are so worried about their "area" they can't fly to the ball sometimes. If Coz can't find a way to make the d fun we are going to get worse and not improve.
  21. If yo are going to give credit for the v-ball and b-ball teams they you must also give credit for the decline of the baseball team. I like some of the things Stevie's done but not all. Callahan appears to be a great tactician but I have questioned if his assistants can coach. Something is missing on the football team both offensively and defensively. The O line and D line are not where they need to be. The D as a whole is not where it obviously needs to be. I still like BC, still see the positives of SP but I also see the negatives of both. This team does not play with much emotion. Pull Keller out and the offensive looses much of the emotion it has. I heard a good comment on the radio yesterday. Something to the effect of "Coz couldn't light a fire in a bbp grill" implying that he can't get any fire into the defense.
  22. Not trying to stir the pot, I like keller but what is the school record for most interecepted passes on one season?
  23. Maybe we can convince Ball State to only suit up in half pads?
  24. Wrong area but I should also point out the I am much happier with the direction of the football program than I am with the baseball program........... Then we can move on to Cook and the volleyball program.
