  1. I can't speak for others, but I feel 9-4 or 10-4 wasn't bad in the Big 12 or with our original B1G schedule. It is unacceptable with this schedule this season. x100.... I looked at this schedule and said 10-2(regular season) is the worst this team should finish. seriously... our best win?
  2. Does it strike anyone else as odd he is opening up practice the same time he has a major QB battle about to happen? don't get me wrong I love that we may get some real insight into the team this spring. It would just seem that a controlling coach would want to media have no part in it, relating to the most high profile position.
  3. can't remember last year.. does Bo let the media in for spring practices?
  4. all things I agree with. Taylor, never looked comfortable in the pocket. and for sure was a bit trigger shy. Don't get me wrong, Tommy does alot of things to be excited about. I just don't think his Passing game is yet one of them. even I agree 52% is Tommy's floor on his accurancy. but what is the realistic ceiling? Taylor, went 59/56/63... and I believe would have been around 65% for his senior year. anyone have an example of college quarterbacks going from 50%ish to say 65%-70%? again... like I have said other times... this is all based on the "identity" of beck's offense.
  5. what did you see this year that gives you such confidence in the above? He has had some accuracy issues, but you can't act like the kid doesn't have a cannon. From a few comments I heard through the season from experts, TA's knee (the one that had the cleaning) could have been a huge culprit on this as well. He has a cannon for sure. his pocket presence and laterl movement were very impressive this season. But imho very very capable passers dont have accuracy issues. Just curious what true2 saw to make him think that.
  6. what did you see this year that gives you such confidence in the above?
  7. Redshirt Soph or Redshirt Fresh QB... just that alone I would think a 9 win regular season would be considered a good year. Healthy Oline, Star RB returning, Improved D... 10-11 win regular season. Banged line, Senior Injury bug bits again, "divas" show up on defense... 7 win regular season like others nothing would really suprise me. Expectations... 9 win regular season... bo stays. 8 win regular season... bo gone. cause that is what this season is really going to be about.
  8. preception is reality... Stanford-Oregon reminds me alot of OU-Texas in the middle 2000's one big game can shape a season and the out look of a program. 90's FSU-Miami as well. when I think 2001... first thing that always jumps to my mind is 62-36, then I mentally vomit.
  9. So you claim 50/50. Stats show 61/39. You counter that it's really closer than they look ..... as in, it should be 60/40. You convinced me. actually if you take those 17 sacks, and say 50 rushes off of passplays (3.8 a game. probably a little high... but whats ever) that creates a 517/445 ratio in play calling. 54/46 guess I should have used the term "balanced" instead of 50/50
  10. Sacks in college count as a rush attempt, with negative yardage. Huskers were sacked 17 times for 140 yards. no stats are keep for rushes/scrambles off of pass plays, they count as a rush. Taylor did this 4-5 times a game. the other guys less. just saying... closer then the stats show.
  11. I really think Armstrong is going to have to make a huge step forward next season. Though Beck really did have the right game plan in place for him. 14 passes is right were he should be at this point. side note I got bored and started looking through the Husker quarterback history... http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/nebraska/passing.html Touchdown Tommie... was just that. 4/1 td/int ratio... 10/1 as a freshman. and was a sub 50% passer for his career Joe Ganz... how in the name of god did that kid not see the field sooner. If Becks insists on his 50/50 offense... Joe's stat line is basically what we are going to need to be back with the big boys. Jerry Tagge threw at the 60% clip in 1971! with 17 td to 4 int. and the 70's were the dead ball era of football. Gerry Gdowski... who the heck is this guy?!?! 1989... 19/2 td/int. oh and almost rushed for 1000 yards, with 7.9 a carry. i need to watch some film on 1989.
  12. I think this offense the last two years, has asked for too much out of the Quarterback. Beck's need to be so muiltiple on offense has put the signal caller in a really tough spot. He must be a manager, he must be a game breaker in the run game, he must be a very good thrower, he has to be able to run option and zone read. I know the results were poor... but I like what Beck did with the Iowa game. play to the quarterbacks strengths (passing) and remove the weakest part of his game (zone read) I can only hope this continues next year... If it's Tommy, lots of option... with limited passing game, 14-16 throws a game. Stanton is harder to comment on... but I would hope an Elite 11 selection can throw it around the yard.
  13. would really like to know where this ranks verus all other schools in the same time frame.
  14. he sounds alot like Ronald Curry when he came out of high school.
  15. Dont know. NU Roster shows this: Lawson, Thomas - (Parker, Colo.) - IB - Lettered in 2005. I remember him for Colorado Prep ball couple of years back. This is really sad news... I attended the same High School as Thomas, Ponderosa High School. He was a huge factor in Ponderosa winning it first 5A state football title. Such a sad day my prayers go out to his family.
  16. Looking ahead... who starts opposite Zack Bowman: Andre Jones? Courtney Grixby? Other? And who plays at the safety positions?
  17. I don't think we have a heisman winner on our roster. The heisman is won 95+ percent of the time by a RB or QB. Lucky: he may have the talent, but with the RB committee will never get the carries. Callahan would have to go all Lucky next year just to prepare for an 08 heisman run. Keller: like some have said he already has the odds stacked against him. He is a transfer, late in his career. And most heiman winners were 3 or 4 year standouts with their college. Purify:no chance. Name the last juco transfer to win the Heisman?? or any type of transfer? The last WR to win was in 91 with Desmond Howard. Yes Charles Woodson played some on offense in 97. Also you had Tim Brown in 87. I think the only way a WR wins it again is if he is reggie bush type player. On top of catching the ball at the WR position:Running the ball a couple of times a game (reverses and such) and returning punts and kick-off's. I just don't see that player in our WR core. Niles Paul:??? you just don't know how cally will use him.
  18. Sad to say, but Colorado is probably overrated at 73. how do they rate baylor (#76) below them??
  19. I think if cally gives him the ball early and often, he will show the nation why he was so highly recruited coming out of high school.
  20. I think this says more about us pinning the hopes of a program on a 18 year kid. Something we do as fan all to much.
