  1. Bumping just as a reminder. I hope some of you will tune in.
  2. AR is absolutely right, although I have never liked the conference championship game idea in any conference, be it Big 12 or SEC or WAC when they did it. I also think it would be great to have Nebraska-OU every year again. I always looked forward to that double header of Texas-Texas A&M and Nebraska-OU, Nebraska-Colorado just never has had the same ring to it for me as an overall college football fan.
  3. I knew someone would say that and believe me I hope that is the case because that will keep Texas out.
  4. If any of you are looking for a game Thursday night other than the one on ESPN and you live in Fox Sports Southwest region I invite you to tune into the Texas State/Nicholls State game starting at 7pm. This has been a down year for both programs because both were senior heavy teams last year that are rebuilding. You will like the Texas State QB. Kind of our version of Danny Werful, a 24 year old redshirt freshman who played pro baseball for several years before coming back to football. He has a rocket arm but has trouble at time with accuracy, trying to do too much with his arm to get out of trouble. Anyway it should be a fun game to watch and who knows maybe you will see me and my daughter in the stands because we will be there. It is football not on the grand scale of Nebraska but entertaining none the less and maybe a nice change of pace for some of you.
  5. To make the Sun Bowl Nebraska would have to loose a lot of games between now and the end of the year. I just don't see that happening. I think there are three bowl possibilities for Nebraska at this point. The Cotton, Alamo or Holiday, although this week's Oklahoma/A&M game may be for who goes to the Holiday Bowl.
  6. "You are as firm and your defensive line"
  7. The Big 12 is a combination of the Big 8 and Southwest Conference. When you look at where the power was in those conferences the South was stacked from the beginning. The Big 8 was dominated by two teams, Nebraska and Oklahoma, the Southwest by two teams, Texas and Texas A&M. Sure every once in a while someone else would break out and win like Colorado in the Big 8 and yes even Baylor in the Southwest but over the years those were the dominant teams. Now you put them together and put three of the four dominent teams from those conferences in the South leaving only Nebraska in the North. So I would say that overall the South has been stacked from the beginning and the only time the North began to catch up is when Nebraska and KSU and Colorado were strong. Now once again you are left with Nebraska and maybe Missouri as strong teams and the rest of the North floundering. The comment about recruiting is right on the mark. Living in San Marcos and working in Austin I have no choice but to hear all of the Texas recruiting talk and if the top high school players aren't going to Texas then they are going to Texas A&M or Oklahoma. Stoops has done a masterful job raising the recruiting strength of Oklahoma in Texas, back to the point it was when Switzer recruited the heck out of Texas high schools. I would have hoped that those Alamo Bowl appearences would have helped Nebraska's Texas recruiting but I think your coaches may need to spend more time down here and get more of our recruits up there to see the facilities because once they see them they will come. There is nothing at Texas or A&M or Tech or Oklahoma that can match them. That starts by the way with your coaches getting to know the high school coaches down here. That is why Mack Brown can get the pick of the litter, because he works so well with all of the high school coaches, something Coach Fran at A&M and Mike Leech at Tech haven't mastered like Brown has. Just a few thoughts for you.
  8. I still think you take care of business this week and win the North. A&M will be very tough but a winable game if you play like you did against Texas. This board is even more depressing than my Bobcat Board since we threw away a conference championship and I-AA playoff bid by loosing this past weekend too. Last year one game away from a NC shot, this year sitting at home. That kind of stuff happens. Nebraska is the kind of program that I would like Texas State to be. In fact I think it is the model of what every college program would like to be. Undying fan support, sell-outs every game, a huge national following that travels to every single away game and respectful of all fans of the game of football, whether it's Nebraska football or not. You guys have A LOT to be proud of win or loose, but I still think you will win and I look forward to being in Dallas on New Year's day if everything works out, and who knows maybe you can shock the Horns in the championship game and end up in Tempe. All is not lost.
  9. If you win the Big 12 Championship you go to the Fiesta Bowl. If you make the championship game and loose you make the Cotton Bowl. I think both bids are automatic, I know the Fiesta Bowl bid is automatic for sure no matter the record.
  10. Oklahoma State always plays well at home and always is up for the toughest competition. They always seem to play up or down depending on how tough their competition is. One week they can play a team like Texas and come close to beating them and the next they can play some downtrodden bottom dweller and loose big and the next week come back and upset Oklahoma. That is the way I have always remembered them playing. I think that makes them a very dangerous opponent.
  11. What I keep hearing down here is that it is a "game time decision" for both, which usually means they will play.
  12. I will be so loud down here in Texas that you will be able to hear it in Lincoln.......then my girlfriend will be forced to move.
  13. I don't think the offense is going to win this game for Nebraska. This is the defenses game to win or loose. Nebraska will not be able to throw it all day long because of the speed of the Texas secondary. The good thing is Brown, the best Longhorn pass defender, may be out for the game due to injury, it's a gametime decision. He is the guy who was suspended from the Ohio State game. The run game will be critical for Nebraska to wear down the Texas defensive front, which is very good. The key will be the Blackshirts up front and linebackers preventing big runs and the corners and safeties covering some great Texas receivers like a blanket. If you can limit them to 10 or 14 points you can win because I think the Nebraska offense will score more than 14.
  14. You know how tough Texas will be, even at your house. Missouri I think is overrated given their performance at Texas A&M and you have them at home which will make it easier although I realize that game is in November. I think Oklahoma State might be a sleeper and you have to go there to play them. I would certainly not overlook that game. They tend to play very well at home when the conference elite come to town. Just ask Texas last year. They were getting whipped at halftime before the Oklahoma State defense just wore out in the second half. You also have the real possibility of a let down after the Texas game, especially if you win. I think the let down is more of a problem when a team wins a huge game than when they loose. I know it's in November but you have the same challenge at Texas A&M. They protect their home turf very very well and playing in Kyle is always really tough for the visitor because it is so loud, especially down at the huge enclosed endzone.
  15. My bad, it's saw Varsity's horns off....short. I did a bunch of internet searches but didn't see one. If I find a place to get one I will let you know, or maybe Agmarauder will read this and let you know.
  16. A&M has those kind of shirts, and sing saw the longhorns horns off....short, while they sway. Those of you going to the A&M game will love that. By the way, I switched as well
  17. You are correct that this is his first real road test. The Rice game in Houston mostly had Texas people in the croud and Rice is a bad team to boot. Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl was split down the middle so it wasn't a competely hostile environment. You also need to look at the quality of defenses the Whorns have faced. The only really good defense was Ohio State and look at the score. The Baylor defense played them well in the first half, they simply wore out in the second half last night. A good defense like the Blackshirts can hold them to a low score. That said however the Nebraska offense will have to step it up a couple of notches. The Longhorn defense is fast and strong and Nebraska will have to score A LOT of points to ensure a win in this game because Texas will score even against the Blackshirts. As I have said many times before, please God beat these guys so I don't have to hear about how great they are anymore. The week after Ohio State was wonderful, give me another week like that one.
  18. I know you guys are hip deep in the Husker-Ksucks game but Baylor is playing really well against the Whorns. up 7-0 so far and driving for another one.
  19. So much for Mizzou being undefeated HAHAHA. Great game for the Aggies
  20. Final Score 30-6. Very dissappointing. Colorado students rush the field because they are 1-6, wow what would they do if they were 2-6
  21. If it wasn't over already it sure is now. 3 minutes left and Colorado just scored again
  22. Amazing Tech actually scored, still 23-6, two point conversion failed
