  1. Player: Tyler Edwards Hometown: Monroe, LA Position: TE Height: 6'3" Weight: 222 lbs. 40 time: 4.71 Visit Date: Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Alabama, LSU, Miami, Florida, Florida State, Arkansas, Auburn Favorites: Alabama and LSU Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Bid Red Report: Assessing the talent: Solid TE prospect being recruited by top programs in the south. Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 10% Appears we may be in somewhat late but says he will wait to make his decision. Has visted other schools...remains to be seen if he will visit us. I suspect he is a potential back-up plan to our first TE choice, Dion Jordan. Linky at Yahoo! Sports: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ri...tory_recruiting
  2. Looks like our chances are very good. Scout linky has Meredith as the #5 pre-season DE in CA: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/672768.html
  3. Moody was an elusive type back...he was their best rusher against us last year. I'm surprised he is leaving. Sure they have other RB's but I liked the way Moody could slip tacklers. We'll likely see C.J. Gable who looks stronger and better everytime I see him. I am not a big fan of Chauncey Washington who we will also likely see (we saw him last year). He is a steady veteran but not as electrifying as some of their other backs. Our defense better be ready to take down whatever backs they bring.
  4. Linky...Meechicken making a run at him. Have no fear, Blaine Gabbert is here...put in the call, Blaine! http://michigan.scout.com/2/666874.html
  5. Bleh...linky has his solid leaders as USC and Penn State...disappointed we don't even appear in the list of teams he has behind his leaders as I thought we were higher on his list. Looks like time to focus on our other candidates at S. http://usc.scout.com/a.z?s=15&p=2&c=669284
  6. Good article here on Simi Kuli and Justin Thompson. I also just linked it in the Thompson thread: http://www.kearneyhub.com/site/news.cfm?ne...77565&rfi=6 Let's get both these guys N!
  7. Good article linked here on both Justin Thompson and Simi Kuli. I will also link it in the Simi Kuli thread: http://www.kearneyhub.com/site/news.cfm?ne...77565&rfi=6 We could really use both these guys!
  8. Still keeping an eye on this kid. Linky: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/666962.html Doesn't appear we are high on his list but based on his comments (wanting to play with good QB's, wants to play early, assess the recruiting class) he still seems like he would be a great fit here. Would be worth getting him for an official visit.
  9. Would we call him a soft verbal to AZ? From a Scout linky: He claims he is a firm commit, but is considering taking visits to Michigan and Nebraska, although he doesn't forsee them changing his mind. "I don't know if they have a shot," Barbour said of his other suitors. "I don't really think so." I always thought he would have better interest in us or Michigan. Not sure if we will be able to wait around for this guy...but will be interesting to see. Heck, get him here for the USC game and then let's talk! Our place no doubt will be more pumped than anytime USC has visited AZ.
  10. He sure talked about Nebraska a lot. I would definately give us a slight edge. I give us the edge as well. He has lots of good things to say about Nebraska. Glad to heat that our facilities are kicking Michigan and Ohio State in the !
  11. This kid is on fire! Now has moved to at both Rivals and Scout.
  12. Now at Rivals. Scheduled to visit with teammate WR Raevon Samuel for the USC game.
  13. Has moved up to a at Rivals.
  14. New linky at Scout on this guy: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/668047.html I'm getting the feeling he will end up at Oklahoma State, or possibly Wisconsin (he has set an official visit for there). From the article he says he is not going to decide until the end of his season. First, I don't think we will wait that long to get a S recruit. Second, we are in on some better recruits IMO. Also, I thought he had scheduled a visit with us...but Scout is not showing that anymore. I don't like the signs here but am OK if we can get a stronger recruit to fill this need.
  15. I liked this guy but looks like he wanted to stay in-state...I thought we or Michigan might be able to get better interest from him. Good luck to him.
  16. Player: Devon Kennard Hometown: Phoenix, AZ Position: DE Height: 6'3" Weight: 235 lbs. 40 time: 4.8 Visit Date: Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, USC, UCLA, Cal, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Arizona, Arizona State, Stanford, Miami, North Carolina, LSU, Florida, Tennessee, Ohio State Favorites: Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Big Red Report: Assessing the talent: Talented DE is one of the best in the western region. Scout's #1 DE prospect. Rivals #8 in Rivals 100. Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 15% Link to Yahoo!/Rivals article: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ri...tory_recruiting
  17. The idea about updating recruit's odds was posted back in another thread awhile ago. My reply at that time was that I do not make it a practice of mine to update the odds (as one could spend considerable time doing so as the odds fluctuate up and down throughout the recruitment process). Rather I tend to leave the initial starting odds alone. It provides a good way to look back at that initial snapshot in time when the recruit had a thread first started. D.J. Woods is a good example here...when I first posted on him the odds were not high due to the situation at that time and what was known about him at that time. Note that I have noticed that some mods/admin have gone into my initial starting posts on recruits that have verballed and have changed some data or most of the time just type in "Nebraska verbal". I am fine with this but FYI...I am not the one making those updates. I like to read the threads on the board as a progression...when you read through the threads it will tell you if the the recruit has committed/verballed (obviously this ALWAYS gets posted) and sometimes others or myself may make a new post on new "odds" if they feel the situation is changing. Look at the threads for recruits like Trevor Robinsion, Jonas Gray, and Kenny Demens...they are roller coaster rides up and down on speculation...the originator of the thread does not need to continually update the odds. Rather, just let the reader go to the latest posts to see what is new or what another poster is saying. That is the best way to go.
  18. Latest from Husker Journal: AUGUST 10, 2007. PREP STAR D’ANTON LYNN, safety, from Celina, Texas has offers from Penn State, USC, Florida, Arkansas, Louisville, Nebraska and Texas Tech. “I’ll probably take three or four officials before I commit.” said Lynn. “I’ve been to Nebraska and really like Coach Callahan he coached in the pros.” he said, “Coach Bush is my recruiter, and is a real cool guy. Nebraska’s facilities are new, the weight room and locker room.” “Nebraska has sold out all their home games since 1962, football is first there. Nebraska said they would start me out at corner first, then once I bulk up, they would move me to free safety.” “I went to USC camp and really liked it.” said Lynn, “I like the way they coach there. Their (USC) practices are a lot of fun, coaches have a lot of energy. Practices are very competitive." “Ken Norton Jr. is my recruiter at SC. It’s hard to turn them down, with all those national championships. Los Angeles is a nice place to live, the beaches and skiing up north.” “I went to Texas Tech, it was nice,” he said, “My parents went to school there. Texas Tech coaches told me I could play early. Tech has a real nice weight room and the dorms are good." “Lubbock is a six hour drive, but a 45 minute flight. I really like Coach Leach, he knows his stuff, perfectionist.” “I like Florida.” said Lynn, “I use to live in Jacksonville and have family there. I would consider Florida for a visit. Florida wants me to play cornerback.” “I like Brian Norwood (Penn State) he said, “I went to camp there and really liked it. I felt comfortable with the coaches at Penn State. They have a huge stadium and the academics are great. Penn State wants me as a slot back and corner.” “Coach David Lee (Arkansas) is a nice guy, my dad is good friends with him. I met a lot of the players there. I like the location (Fayetteville). Arkansas will probably be the first school I will visit.”
  19. Yea, I think it is about time to get TR back in the fold. I hope this doesn't continue to drag out much longer. Perhaps the only other O-Lineman on our board in David Grant just committed to Oklahoma State earlier this week. If TR did leave, I don't even know if we'd take another OL (Brandon Thompson is the only one else I see out there...I'm guessing he might be our back-up plan if TR leaves and we still want another OL). But with limited spots left in this class and Grant off the board, TR's concerns should be alleviated. Gabbert, Gray, and Givens all got to be telling TR the special class we are putting together...I still can't believe he'd bolt this special class for ND.
  20. Word is that his final two are Nebraska and Minnesota. Apparently he will line up a visit with us. He is very intriguing to me because he is very highly rated and gives us a different look than Gray and Okafor. He would round out a most impressive RB class!!!
  21. Linky: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ri...tory_recruiting He is still set to visit us but looks like other schools are taking the lead and looks like he will visit 4 schools...also likely there will not be room for him?
  22. Looks like we can close the door on this one. Linky says he is looking at Ole Miss, Iowa State, and Minnesota. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ri...tory_recruiting
  23. Scout is reporting he will be visiting for the Nebraska vs. USC weekend.
  24. From Husker Journal: AUGUST 7, 2007. PREP STAR D. L. MOORE, WR, from Bowling Green, Kentucky, has offers from Nebraska, Purdue, South Carolina, Ohio, Cincinnati and Middle Tennessee State. “I went to Columbia (South Carolina) one day camp and really liked it.” said Moore, “Coach Spurrier was the first coach I met, he’s a very nice guy.” “I like the city a Columbia.” he said, “They have nice palm tree's and it’s by a beach area. I would like to be by the water (east or west coast), if I can. South Carolina and Purdue are recruiting me the hardest.” “Coaches can’t text message any more, so I don’t hear much from colleges now.” “I went to Purdue, it was nice.” said Moore, “I like the coaching staff, coach Bill Legg is my recruiter. The facilities at Purdue are good. I also liked East Lansing.” “Purdue coaches didn’t say if I could play early, but like most school's if I prove myself, I have a chance.” “I like the area (Nebraska), I need to talk to them.” he said, “I still do believe they are interested in me.” “I liked the Nebraska ’95 team, ESPN had a story on them. The West Coast Offense is good, I love the passing game. I will probably visit Nebraska along with Purdue, South Carolina, and Middle Tennessee State. The fifth visit, I don’t know yet.” “My three favorites right now are South Carolina, Purdue and Nebraska.”
