  1. I think after the 2nd Offside, PSU returned the ball to their 5-6 You sure you want to start out that deep? I'm not sure, but I think even if PSU declines, they don't get the time back on the clock. Quick! Somebody figgure out how many times you can do this (Including half the distance to the goal) before you're kicking off from your goal line! They should put this Question on the Wonderlict Test!!!
  2. I don't think it was shickenchit in this case. I think the Wisconsin Coach was trying to make a statement against the assinine rule change..I was a little surprised JoPa didn't catch on. Now if it was the end of the game...Then I could see breaking a coaches leg on the sideline. (Must've happened later in the game to Joe)
  3. http://www.everydayshouldbesaturday.com/?p=2796 Wisconsin intentionally offsides 2x on the kickoff to end the half..PSU ran outa time. Brilliant!!!
  4. Yeah your right he's not taking a originally option based team and turning the playbook around 180 degrees and going the other way with the west coast offense..........the players that were there when he got there weren't recruited for this type of offense. :hmmm Yeah, but it still seems like it'd be easier for a coaching staff to adapt to their 124 players' strengths than the other way around.....to turn a running back into a passer..Or to magically transform great run blockers into pass protectors...A WCO coach might not know much about Option Football, but you'd think he could wing it for a year or two while he gets "His type" of players into the system...We would owe that much to the existing players. I can see them trying to put on a show for future recruits that we are indeed commiting to the WCO, But how inflexable can you be as a coach? What was it they used to say about Bear Bryant?..."He can take His'n and beat Your'n...And he can take Your'n and beat His'n". The problem with that though is that is not his type of offense so he probably wouldn't be able to run it effectively enough to matter. He's better going with his strength and what he knows and is good at. The players should be good enough to adapt to the point where they can be effective. I see what your saying, but I don't think I've ever seen a coach do that type of adaptation........ I guess I haven't seen a coaching staff try to adapt that much either, but it still seems to make sense Especially when you're keeping a Turner Gill and a Ron Brown to ease the transformation. Most of the position coaches are still coaching fundamentals and with the O-line, I could probably see a bit more difficulty, but again...Seems like most coaches with any kind of experience, should be able to adapt to their players...Shoot..I was always a better play caller than Osborn...but he improved to my level towards the end Cally's game plan seems a little harder to understand than most..Hopefully that will be to our benefit down the road.
  5. Any chance for a Medical Redshirt for him? Or is he playing now?
  6. Was he sacked prior to this? Must've been hit so hard he was blowing snot bubbles.

  8. I doubt we'll ever have the consistency we were used to with the option attack. One or two guys could have a bad day and we'd still win usually. With the West Coast Offense, an O-lineman misses an assignment, the QB probably gets sacked. If the QB is a little off all day...Bad loss. You'll probably see a close game against Texas followed by a Bad game against Oklahoma State a lot in the future with the WCO just like you see in the NFL...Especially until you have coaches who can adapt on the run.
  9. Actually, The only team Florida lost to so far this season is Auburn...Who's ranked one spot ahead of them in two of the Human polls but swapped in the BCS poll. Happens all the time..The best team doesn't allways win in a head to head. Do you think We would've leapfrogged Texas if we beat them at home a few weeks ago? Probably would've taken two wins against the shorthorns to do that from the #20 spot.

  11. I'd like to see us play Florida again..I've gotten to know a few of their fans on BBS (boards) and would like to see some of them in person. I'd really like to see us play Ohio State while My wife and I are still getting along well..She Graduated from there and we're having a friendly rivaly at home, so far...
  12. And I thought the sheep in Colorado were scared
  13. It's also close captioned by hand in that video.. He's standing in front of some building with a bunch of HS cheerleaders and some jibberish and then says," the worst days as a Buff are better than the beast days as a (Fill in the blank with your fav. team)" . I just can't type it...
  14. Yeah..We were way too deep in our own territory to do a 3 & out..And a run up the middle is what they were expecting..Possibly resulting in a fumble...I like Texas chances after a punt, to make a 1st down or two to get them into FG range..even with their "Freshman" QB. Now if you want to talk about Boneheaded playcalls.. How about Texas throwing into double coverage on 3rd down when they should've just run the ball to get closer to the middle (between the hashmarks) for their last field goal? I thought we'd pick that one off for sure and end the game right there. Good call, Callihan (or whoever called the game "to win")...Definite improvement!
  15. Something tells me if we meet again, Texas will attack our corners more...Their O-line looks even better than USC's.
  16. I haven't seen the 1st half yet (My 5 yr old son's Soccer game was the same time). But I was impressed for the 1st time this season. How did the Offensive Line adjust so well in the 2nd half? Listening to the halftime report on the radio, they made it sound pretty porous. Nunn sounds like an easy target for Blame, but looking at replays of his fumble, I don't see anyone holding onto that ball...That was a direct hit to the ball before he had a chance to put it away. Hopefully, he'll learn from the punt return and shake it off. You should've heard me yelling at the TV on that last fumble..."No 3&out!!!...Pass that sucker...OMG..He Passed IT!!!..GREA...OOPs...Now why did he pass that?.. Actually...What impressed me most about Our play calling WAS that pass!!(Never thought I'd utter those words this season). We'll get there.
  17. To the original poster, how is college football really that much different than the NFL? There is a division title. The winners of the 2 divisions play each other. The winner of that game plays in the big money game. Once you lose 1 game, it is pretty much out of the picture for a national title, so we are playing to get into the BCS. If NU ends the regular season 11-1, loses to UT in the Big 12 title, they will probably still get an at large. I don't really see NU having a chance at the title for this season, who knows though, in college football anything can happen. Anybody watch MNF tonight? The Cardinals were miraculously ahead by two TD's and had a few more chances to score if they'd stuck with the 8-12 yd passes that got them the lead. Instead, they ran the ball to keep the ball out of Chicago's offense's hands. Edgerin James had 54 yds on 37? carries??? I know it's not polite to run up the score...But you also need to insure wins. I'm not the original poster, but ??? In college football...(Without a playoff)..EVERY game is Life or Death and MUCH more excitin'. ((Plus you have "Style Points" (ratings) to worry about)). If you loose 1 game..you have to have help from other teams and/or voters to make it to the MNC. If you loose another...You have to be lucky to make it to a BCS bowl. If you loose a third or 4th...You have to be Notre Dame to get a half-decent invite. Oh yeah..~34 teams end their season with a W..Maybe more if you count the ones not in Bowls. In the NFL...you just have to coast along and win more than you loose and try to keep everyone healthy. The REAL season doesn't start until the Playoffs. I don't think you really understood what I said. The way college football is set up is you win your division, you win your conference, you win a BCS money game. In pro football, you win your division, you win your conference, you go to the playoffs, you go to the super bowl. You quoted what I had to say, said and then proceeded to say essentially what I explained thereafter. Sorry if I repeated you, DJR313..Or misunderstood. But winning your division in the NFL only gives you home field advantage..Just being above .500 usually gets you to the playoffs. I took this as an oppertunity to go on a rant about one of the things that makes College Football so much more exciting (better) than the NFL. And my fear that a college playoff may be inevitable in Div 1...Lessening the importance of every game. I also wanted to illustrate the obvious danger of "Playing it close".'specially with the shortened game costing each team a possession or two. If the Cardinals would've kept trying to score out here Monday night, Da Bears Defense would've had to score another touch down (Or maybe their Offense would maybe have to contribute) to win the game.
  18. I saw it on youtube.. Prety nice footage of husker highlights afterwards, too
  19. So if Callihan bets on Texas and the shorthorns win by less than 6, does he still win $$ ? Sorry..I've never bet anything other than SEX on anything before and not sure how these work..Like who won money on the USC game? people that bet on USC... NU..Or just the Bookies?

  21. Agreed, plus I'm sure KSU isn't exactly his dream job. It's just a stepping stone. Scott won a championship for us both on the field and with the things he said after the game that I'm sure swayed a few coaches to vote our way. What was that he said to the coaches? "...if you had to play either Nebraska or Michigan and your job depended on the out come of the game who would you rather play..." I'm sure I totally screwed up what he said but it was something quite similar. Man.. I took so much heat out here for that statement...It was embarrasing. Swayed more coaches to vote for Michigan!! Almost made ME want Mi to get it. I want (Undefeated) Lovie Smith to be our next coach...Dang Cardinals
  22. yeah i hope he stops that habit, :asshat HEY!!! You fergot the (Which btw, is a little embarrasing to have on a Husker BBS site...Tennessee, I could see, but I would hope Husker fans would be smart enough to be able to spot obvious sarcasm). Wish I had a Bugeatin' hoodie
  23. very nice post. I was watching part of the UT/BU game...after being down 10-0, UT rattled off points like it was an afterthought. They made it look VERY easy. No, Baylor isn't a powerhouse, and won't be mistaken for one, but they are very much improved. Texas just completely blew them up. It was out of control in a heartbeat. This is going to tell the tale of Callahan. He can do damage control, a la USC, or he can try to take out a great team at our house. This is dangerous, because Missery stumbled, but besides NU, their schedule is not much of an issue. OU, maybe, but the Norman boys might as well call it a season with Peetie shelved for the year. Remember, NU and MU could go into their game with the same conference record. NU stumbles, and MU has the inside track. That would not be good. Cally, IMHO, has to have the coaching game of his life vs. Tejass. Screw the Big 12 game. This is game-to-game, and this is now. We shall soon see if the NFL coaching mentality is eeking out of the system, or if we need to continue to worry after the scripted 15 plays week after week. Hey!! Wait a minute...Maybe, I'm beginning to see Callyhans aleged thinkin' Maybe it Would be better to beat Texas in the Conf. Championship game and slough off next Sat. (everybody knows you can't beat the same team twice in the same season). Maybe I should bet Sexual favours with Buckeye37 on the shorthorns...
