  1. Hands down, the best fans and college football atmosphere I've ever been around. Everything I had heard about your fanbase was justified. I turned to one of my friends in the fourth quarter and said "ya know what... win or lose, this was the best football trip I've ever taken." I was actually going to start a post about our trip and let you know how awesome it was but haven't got around to it yet. I have to say I was also pleasantly suprised by the town of Lincoln as well. Good stuff all around. Thanks Huskers, I'll be back.
  2. All reports out of Austin are they will play. Take it for what it's worth. I'd trust the sources I've seen over ESPN though. I think Marcus Griffin was held out against Baylor for precautionary reasons. Brown's injury was more serious. I think they'll both play, but Brown's the big question.
  3. Don't get me started.... We run the stretch plays outside ALL the time. We hardly ever run up the middle or line up with a two running back set. There are a ton of fans on our side who believe that we're using the wrong offensive philosophy this year, but it's what Colt's comfortable with after running it all last year. Luckily, our two backs are talented enough to make yards off tackle, but we haven't had any of our runningbacks break one off for a HUGE gain this year. Last year, defenses had to stay home because Vince would take it himself off the zone read. This year, the linebackers are just going with the runningbacks and meeting them at the sidelines. Check out the running plays in our games against ISU and Baylor. You'll see what I'm talking about.
  4. I pinned this to the top of the thread, but for those of you that skipped to the bottom, enjoy this video breakdown of the game created by Rpongett on the Orangebloods.com board. TEXAS v. NEBRASKA VIDEO PREVIEW Another Breakdown of The Game Your fans aren't the only ones taking this game seriously.
  5. Going back to an earlier question I had on this thread.... I notice that some of you are concerned with Sweed's size. Since Bowman's out, who on your team do you think is going to matchup with him? I'm not familiar with your corners and am wondering if this is going to be one of the key matchups to watch in the game. Do you guys have a true shutdown corner on your team? I'm headed out tomorrow morning and am already completely worthless at work. Can't wait to get up there.
  6. If Texas fans are invited, count myself and four others in, equipped with Texas beer. Are you guys going to be tailgating on Friday evening after you get there or just before and after the game? Nevermind, just read the invite. Looks like you'll be there both days.
  7. I think ESPN gameplan is carrying the game.
  8. Per the American Statesman today, Tarell Brown and Marcus Griffin will both play this weekend.
  9. Not sure where you're getting that idea that our defense is struggling to sack the quarterback. Texas ranks fifth in the nation in sacks, averaging 3.57 per game. Nebraska ranks 66th with 1.86. I'd say that turnovers are going to be a huge factor in this game. We've forced our fair share this season and rank 2nd in the country in turnover margin. Nebraska ranks 11th in the Big XII. I know that stats don't mean much, but our defense definitely has a knack for creating turnovers.
  10. Great. After years of waiting to head to Lincoln and see the Sea Of Red, everyone's going to be wearing black.
  11. Don't go patting ole Mack on the back quite yet. Remember his little rant to the media two years ago when it was either his team or Cal in the Rose Bowl? How he cried that UT didn't get the respect it deserved? Cal didn't exactly prove him wrong when they got mud-stomped by Tech. And UT beat the Wolverines. I think Mack's team backed him up on that. That was an awesome game. I think they were gift-wrapped the W at Lawrence that year thouh and shouldn't have been in that position. A good game indeed. It's funny, because that game immediately went down as one of the best games in Texas history. Now, if you mention the Rose Bowl, no one even thinks about that game because of last years USC game.
  13. Yep they're not. Here's the national rankings(with their yards per game average) for Rushing Offense North Texas 106th/87ydpg Ohio St 44th/155ydpg Rice 86th/110ydpg Iowa St 94th/101ydpg Sam Houston (1-AA) 75th/120ydpg OU 25th/172ydpg Baylor 119th/39ydpg Nebraska is ranked 11th/207ydpg. So while UT may be the best rushing defense we'll have played all year, NU will be the highest ranked Rushing Offense UT has faced all year at this point. And like you said, these stats are/could be a bit misleading when you consider the teams UT faced. On the opposite end of the spectrum, if you consider who NU has played this year, is our Rush Offense that good or are the rush defenses of our opponents that bad? USC was able to stop the run pretty effectively. I guess we'll find out who has the real deal on the ground come Saturdaya Almost every one of the teams listed have passing based offenses. (hence the stats) The only group with a good running game was OU, but our defense did a hell of a job keeping Peterson in check. I'm not speaking on stats so much as the overall talent of our defensive line. It's definitely the strength of our team, so if Nebraska's able to run the ball on us, it could translate into victory.
  14. Our run defense is very salty and is the strength of the D. The pass defense largely depends on who we're going to field. It we start Brown, Ma. Griffin, Mi. Griffin & Ross in the backfield, then I'll be comfortable. If Brown and Ma. Griffin can't go, it's a whole different story. We started a freshman in Brown's place last weekend and it showed. I think Nebraska will be able to pick up some yards on the ground, but I doubt you'll be able to run on the Texas defense "when you want".
  15. That's the one. Good find.
