  1. Yeah, the DLP I have is actually only 1080i (not 1080p) and I can't tell a difference at all. However, watching blu-rays or playing HD video games definitely looks better than standard def stuff. Anyone own any 3D equipment? The glasses thing is not only inconvenient, but it's crazy expensive...
  2. 50 in Panasonic plasma? What do you think of it? Right now, I have an 'old' RCA DLP tv... it was free and works fine (despite being only 1080i). When I do decide to replace it, I've been looking at the Panasonic plasmas. Though, with all the 3D stuff, I probably won't have to buy a new tv until all of that really changes the market...
  3. Ahh, sounds good. How do you like Klipsch? I ended up going with some Paradigm Monitors for my fronts, center and sub but nearly went with Klipsch.
  4. Not too shabby. Plans on upgrading from the 2.1 setup anytime soon? Once you get started, it's crazy how upgrades become so addicting...
  5. You really know the BCS is broken when it has to come out with a revised poll the next day... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/andy_staples/12/07/bcs-math-error/index.html
  6. I really wish I could have been at this one. Isn't this the game that is at the top of the 'loudest'/'best' crowds? And didn't we hold them 0-?? on third downs?
  7. Agreed. But I'm still wondering if Watson's to blame... I mean, we have Helu who has a Nebraska record -- yet he gets only 9 carries? (Not that Rex wasn't doing horrible...). But seems to be a little inconsistent. Whether that's the players or coaches fault... and which coaches...
  8. Under North Stadium (right next to the red turf leading out to the field for the Tunnel Walk...)
  9. I'm kind of surprised how many people seem to not know about the rule change about the "Ball out of Bounds" timing change... I thought it was pretty big news before? I couldn't exactly find the rule... but here is one reference I found: Ball Out Of Bounds (Rule 3-2-5-a-12). When a ball is carried or fumbled out of bounds, the game clock will stop, as always. Beginning in 2008 the game clock will start on the referee’s signal when the ball is ready for play, not on the snap. In the last two minutes of the half, however, the clock will start on the snap as before, preserving the ability of the offensive team to maximize strategic use of the clock. So in that case, I think the clock started after the referee placed the ball and started the clock... Does that sound correct to anyone else?
  10. Hey, I tried to pm you, but it said you couldn't use the message system?

I just saw your flag football game request... and it got me thinking...

I am a college student here in Lincoln-- but I'm not asking to join your game. :)

However, I am a photographer and if you do have a lot of husker fans interested, I think this might make an interesting photo op...

  11. Sorry you were in town during state basketball. It makes traffic even worse than usual. Definitely swing by Lincoln during your stay! Congrats on your decision!
  12. Michael-- agreed. After watching my roommate play Need for Speed and then playing Midnight Club myself, Forza is more of a simulator. Both Need for Speed and Midnight Club make you seem like you are moving faster. So far, it seems like you are paying for the graphics and details in Forza... and a more open map/story oriented feel in NfS and MC. Does anyone have these two? I don't want to get tired of playing it after a week or so. Right now, I think I'm leaning towards Midnight Club (Los Angeles). It seems like it is the best balance of the graphics/quality and interest (story/open map)
  13. What were your thoughts on forza? likes dislikes? Pretty good graphics and sound (though I haven't looked at the other two yet). The game seems to really emphasis the cars-- sharp HD graphics, etc. But again, I haven't had a racing game since the PS2. There is no open map, so you are limited to the races. And so far, the car selection seems pretty amazing. It also offers a few levels of difficulty. So if you've never played a racing game, the game wouldn't frustrate you to death.
  14. I decided to rent all three... Played a little Forza tonight... we'll see how the others go later this week.
  15. I'm looking to get a new racing game for my Xbox 360. I haven't owned one in years. Right now I've got my choices narrowed down to Forza Motorsport 3, Need for Speed Undercover, and Midnight Club Los Angeles. Anyone have these?
  16. I have Dish right now. If possible, I'd definitely recommend Dish or Directv... Currently, my Dish service is through Windstream (here in Lincoln) to also get my internet bundled into one bill. Any place out your way that has this type of deal?
  17. I think just getting all the students back to Lincoln was one of the biggest safety concerns (regardless if leaving on a bus or plane).
  18. That 2001 Rice game featured one of the best pass plays I've seen by the Huskers, too. Crouch to Wilson Thomas, where Thomas laid out and caught the ball and hit the pylon as he caught it for the score. Really neat bang-bang play. Definitely one of my favorite memories at a Memorial Stadium... As for my top 5 games (in no particular order) '02 Texas-- I had gotten to know DeJuan Groce through my cousin and his punt return late in the fourth is still one of the loudest times I've heard at the stadium. Great game despite the ending. '06 Texas-- I thought we had avenged the '02 game... the snow, the atmosphere was so... just plain ol happy? '07 USC-- The game really didn't turn out the way we hoped. But the week building up to it, the day off, and the crowd before the game... I haven't seen the Stadium quite like that before or since (but I haven't been to all of them...) And I guess this just sticks out to me more than some of the others. '08 Colorado-- by the time we were set to kick the go-ahead field goal, I was on the sideline. And it is just a different feeling being on the field when the stadium is going nuts. '09 Oklahoma/Texas -- finally beating Oklahoma in recent memory... but it didn't have that feeling for me like I had hoped (I guess I was immediately ready to keep looking forward after the clock hit 00:00... like I did facing Texas... but I guess that was just a second too soon). And for the Texas game, I thought we were finally going to overcome all of the shortcomings of this year's team and win a pretty big game!
  19. What really sucks though is that these preseason polls really may end up mattering IMO. I think most of us will agree that they don't mean too much, but in the end, I think these polls do have an impact (which then leads to the 'when should the first polls be released' discussion). Granted, if you win, you'll rise... but when a race is tight between a couple teams, where you started in those preseason and early polls can give you a nice head start.
  20. Yeah, I guess 'neutral' isn't the best word. But it is an important topic to at least think about when you talk about moving the conference championship game to one permanent site...
  21. I don't have anything against Texas or Texas fans. I had a great time at the game and it was refreshing to be around fans that actually root for their team (and not against yours). I am frustrated with the argument that Arlington is a neutral location, etc. I'm against that. Not Texas. Not the Big 12 South.
  22. To clarify on the 'big screen commercials,' I'm not saying that they didn't have a NU ad to balance the UT ad. I'm saying, I didn't like how nearly every announcement began with "attention Texas fans." You know, the game was (and always will be with the format we have) between one South team and one North team. (And if you want to look at a 'central' location, why don't we look at the difference between one south and one north team at a time? Aren't those the schools that actually have to travel to the game?) And still, this isn't a big issue. They were appealing to the actual audience-- since 99 percent of the field-level suites were Texas-owned...
  23. Part of my issue is hearing over half the commercials and big screen announcements at the Big 12 Championship begin with "Attention Texas fans..." or "Texas fans, blah blah blah, here is something for you"... If Mack and whoever else wants to argue to have the game in Arlington every year, so be it-- but after hearing all of that all game, I'm going to find little stuff to nit-pick.
