  1. this has probably already been posted, but i didn't see it here so i apologize if i am reposting. in addition, the mods might move this, but at the huskerpedia site they have a link for a casting call for the new jim carey movie. i guess part of the movie takes place at a nebraska football game and they need extras to show up at the LA coliseum to finish some of the shots. if i am correct, they did some shooting at the OSU game this year. anyway, if people have the time to go out there for the whole day it might be fun!
  2. Siegfried and Roy are NU donors????? i think they were until one of them got "owned" by that tiger!
  3. Siegfried and Roy are NU donors????? Wayne Newton to him, i guess we all say a big "danke schoen"
  4. can someone summarize the entire year with bowman. i knew he was starting at the beginning of the year, slightly injured himself during the USC game, and then refused to wear his blackshirt during practice after the mid season defensive debacles. has he not been starting the last couple of weeks? in addition, love the inserted picture from the battle of stalingrad.
  5. gotta love barry switzer. even though i thought he was a bit of a "cheater", got to respect him for his coaching abilities and his sense of humor. check out the youtube thread below. i remember watching this the night before they played us in 1980. classic barry switzer.
  6. nice call at the end of the half. as long as he is the conductor of that k-state train wreck, nebraska can always count on a win. here's to you coach!
  7. even though we are in the lead, our defense is continuing their season long poor play. they are on track to give up at least 500 yards to these stiffs.
  8. on the internet radio feed they were just recounting some of the great players who came to nebraska as walk-ons.
  9. in addition, sharpe kind of sounds like rose, in my opinion, but with a head cold.
  10. their hatred stems from the fact that they know that they were the beneficiaries of a home-town refereeing job at their place in 1982 that gave them the national championship. as bob dole would say, "you know it, i know it, and american people know it." in their hearts they are trully embarrassed by that fiasco so that they only way they can overcome it, is by ignoring the facts of the 94 season, (NU beat colorado, K-state on the road, a miami team on their home field who had two hall of fame defensive players on their team and PSU played some really weak big 10 teams and had trouble with a mediocre oregon team at a neutral site) and playing the role of the ignored and mistreated red-headed step child, whining and bitching how they were jobbed out of a national title. we know the truth.
  11. not a good motivational tool. if this is true and he actually did say this to his team, then he must think that he has the complete support of this team. a few players might come out publicly and say they do support him, but it is obvious from the way they have played the past 6-7 weeks that they don't support callahan and have essentially quit on this season.
  12. you are right about farley. i was very surprised he never had a pro career.
  13. To bad you were'nt around when Dave Remington was playing. That guy was a great center and a few time was penalized for false starts because he was so fast off the line. Nebraska used to have All Americans playing for the offensive line now they can't even block. i too was an offensive linemen and think they deserve special mention since they were the ones paving the way for all of those great husker i-backs and quarterbacks. the above are good choices, but my favorite was the one who started it all and that was big #64, BOB BROWN. All-American guard for devaney's first orange bowl team, all-pro at tackle for the eagles, rams, and raiders, and of course NFL hall of famer. in addition, the guy received an undergraduate degree in biology from nebraska, went onto get a masters degree in education and then served as a principal, if i am not mistaken, after his pro career ended. if you ever get to see video footage of the orange bowl victory over auburn in '63, check out the second play where Brown pulls from his oeft guard position, literally drives either the DT or DE for auburn about 10 yards down the field allowing bob churchich to run for a 68 yard touchdown. that guy was a stud!
  14. good point oldman. it is just the same BS over and over. i guess that's what happens when the football team is in the toilet and we have to wait for another 10 months for a new season to start. anyway, keep rehashing stuff. i like when people write in and it seems like they are actually offended, which in truth they probably are or why else would they bother writing back pointing it out.
  15. wow! try and keep the religous hatred to a minimum. it's just football not jihad.
  16. No more PRO coaches please. tell that to USC and ASU Take Pete Carol out of a hot recruiting ground like USC I wonder how good he would do. Both of them should never have gone to the NFL and are more suited to college. It's two different games and attitudes. Can only name two head coaches that won the superbowl and NC in college. Face it. You won't ever see a successful head coach from the NFL go into college coaching the only head coaches coming from the NFL are ones that could'nt hack it. exactly. had the timing been different and we hired carrol instead of callahan, then i doubt the situation would have been that much different then we are seeing now.
  17. just as most fans (myself included) on this board seem to not want him as coach, there is no way in hell shanahan wold even consider coming to coach at nebraska. he is a big time NFL coach who has won two superbowls and taken the broncos to the playoffs 7 times in his tenure. i have written this before, as well as i am sure other people have, the nebraska job is not that attractive right now. you have players who have shown they will quit during the season (either they quit or they really do suck that bad), an athletic department administration that needs overhauling, and a rabid fan base that has grown tired of waiting for their once dominant football team to be reestablished. we will have to get somebody young and mentally tough who really wants to make their career at nebraska and does not see the position as a stepping stone to bigger things.
  18. i second your sentiment. no way is glenn mason a good fit to coach nebraska.
