  1. Question is, is this supposed to be a credible-sounding rumor that would actually get reported on ESPN? Or can we make up any crazy thing we want? Crazy: Mark Mangino eats Crispy Creme out of business single-handedly. Credible: Mark Mangino eats Crispy Creme out of business single-handedly.
  2. Would you rather: Have the Huskers win the national title next year? OR Be able to sleep with ANY woman in the world for one calendar year, whenever you want? If you choose the latter, you must state what woman you would pick.......actually, even if you pick the National Title, you still have to pick which woman you would choose, just because that would give us one more thing to argue about......Sorry if this is a stupid topic, but I am extremely bored at work...
  3. The first thing that TO has done that I don't agree with.......though he has a point, if it was a night game, I probly would pass out by the 2nd half........hell, it being a day game might not even stop me.....CANT WAIT FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!
  4. so the hang snatch is half a hang cling? Not Quite....Snatch refers to your grip being placed farther apart towards the ends of the barbell and the arms locked. The bar is then catapulted over head, from a hanging position, keeping the arms locked. Snatches and Cleans both improve explosiveness and hip flexibility. Good Mornings have different definitions everywhere, depending on the trainer. At my school Good Mornings were an overhead snatch squat type lift used at the beginning of the workout, with light weight, to stretch out and warm up. Either way, just take my word for it, both hang snatches and good mornings suck.......man i hated those dead lifts......couldn't walk normally for days after those.
  5. He won't go very high due to his lack of high-end speed, but he'll go on the second day sometime. Coaches love a red-zone threat like him who can exploit mismatches, even if he doesn't run a 4.4
  6. LINK WHEN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IS NOT ENOUGH On Monday, Jan. 2, 1984, the undefeated Nebraska Cornhuskers lost the Orange Bowl and lost the national title when the Miami Hurricanes beat them 31-30. Nebraska's powerhouse offense featured Heisman Trophy winner Mike Rozier at running back, future first-round draft pick Irving Fryar at wide receiver and All-American Turner Gill at quarterback. During the 1983 season, the Huskers averaged 52 points and had scored at least 63 points in five games. Gill was shattered. His pass to running back Jeff Smith on a two-point conversion attempt would have given Nebraska a 32-31 victory, but was tipped away by Miami safety Ken Calhoun at the last moment. The pain welled up in him as he walked off the field. "It hurt from the inside," Gill says. "Like it was coming on me from somewhere deep." Days later, at a college all-star game, he felt numb as he walked the sidelines behind the bench, replaying that last pass in his head: "I could see him catch it. I could erase the throw and start over, throw it just a little further out, beyond that other guy's fingertips." Now, as a head coach himself, it's not the pass Gill replays but the moment just before it, when Huskers coach Tom Osborne decided to go for two points. A point-after kick would have tied the game and secured the national championship, but Osborne wanted something more. The guys on the team had whispered it, "13-0," all season. It was a mantra. It was the difference between running and not running one more set of sprints at practice. It was the difference between kicking it and going for two. Every time they said it, they were making a promise. It was who they were, all they wanted. As time passes and memory softens, you find yourself still holding on to the desire, he says. Turner Gill was once the guy in Huskers red and white, rolling right and floating that ball toward Smith, reaching for No. 13. Gill, bright blue ball cap on, now the coach at the University at Buffalo, is the guy who knows perfection isn't a number at all: "The chase is the thing, the drive, something inside you that wants to be truly great and won't settle and won't ever be satisfied. That's perfect. That's as close as you can get."
  7. In addition to the games I already posted, I'm also looking forward to the Iowa State game, it's a nice 3 hour drive from here and I'm thinking that I'm bringing a crew of about 15 to party.....gonna be outta control.
  8. 1) Va Tech (first big test) 2) OU (if we have a good record when this rolls around, it becomes #1) 3) Mizzou/Kansas (let's get back to the point where we never lose to either of these teams) 4) Texas Tech- because I can't stand this perennial 7-5 team and their gimmick offense. And because we haven't beaten them for a few years
  9. Well put. I really, really, REALLY dislike Missouri. The way they have acted this year has put it over the top for me, its like your little brother who has been the whipping boy forever finally beats you in basketball, then never shuts up about it. Sure, he might have had a few good games against you, but he knows in his heart of hearts that he'll never be as good as you. And that's what I see Mizzou as. A mild irritant, a whiny little sibling. And for that, I cant stand them. (This in no way takes away from their great season they had this year, which I compliment them on. But still, let's talk after an extended run of success, not one season.)
  10. Say...how did you guys do against Iowa State last year? Looked like your "boatload of freshmen" were cruising around the Big 12 in the Titanic and the iceberg was in Ames. Nebraska seemed to have avoided the humiliation of being beaten by the worst team in the Big 12 North...so, frankly, the only difference between CU and a tub of sh#t seems to be the tub. You're right Cy, we did lose to ISU in ames. We deserved to lose that one. We also beat the conference champs Oklahoma on national tv, so I'll have to be content with that for this year. When was the last time ISU beat OU? And since you admit that ISU was the worst team in the north this year(quite an accomplishment), maybe you could tone down the trash talk a touch? Of course, it doesn't really matter who we consider our rivals, right now it matters who ABC considers our rivals; if both Nebraska and CU don't get their sh#t together it'll be Missouri and Kansas playing the day after thanksgiving, which won't be good for either of our programs. Good point. I don't wanna be subjected to Mizzou/KU games for the forseeable future, let's hope that NU gets it turned around and that CU kicks ass until the last game of the season.
  11. I'm torn on this one. I came of age after the formation of the Big 12 (I was 12 when the conference was formed, and I don't remember the glory days of OU/NU). While I wish we were still playing Oklahoma every year, the fact of the matter is that unless we both win our divisions every year, it's going to be tough to keep that rivalry very heated. Plus, with OU there isn't the hatred there is with CU or Mizzou. With OU, there's a mutual respect because both programs are college football royalty. With CU and Mizzou, you have start-up programs who have been pissed at us for kicking their ass for years, so I think there's a lot more anger. In addition to this, the poor behavior of their fans (not all of them, but you know what I mean) lends itself to wanting to beat them more. Plus, having them steal our recruits this year hasn't helped their standing. For either CU or Mizzou though, they have to continue building a program so there'll be some tradition there, otherwise the rivalry won't develop. Nebraska doesn't have rivals who suck, because a rivalry is supposed to be competitive. Obviously this year doesn't help my argument considering NU got their ass kicked, but my point is that this will always be a bigger game to CU or MU then it will to us. They have to keep winning to make it a rivalry. With OU, you can't beat tradition and history. And I think with Bo, we'll get to that point again where we are regularly facing these guys with high stakes, which is why they are my choice for biggest rival.
  12. I'd be down for a tailgate before the spring game.............I was a bit disappointed with the tailgating last year, though I've read on multiple sites that Lincoln's tailgating is sub-par and that the bars are the way to go.....are there some spots better for tailgating that I should be looking for?
  13. I find it encouraging that he went on the visit to see the DT Brown in Texas. If a guy wasn't planning on sticking around, why would he go and represent the program like that? And I have to think that Pelini is going to want to know what Watson's thinking is. As many have you have said, he (Watson) needs to address this now to avoid further speculation and assuage any fears potential recruits might have.
  14. It's too long to post here, but if you have a minute, check out the link. It's a great read, and the first part about him going into the worst parts of LA to talk to the youth of those communities is pretty fascinating. LINK
  15. As much as I'd like to see him go to GB and learn under Favre, it ain't gonna happen. They have Aaron Rogers from a couple years ago ready to take the reins, and Craig Nall as a dependable 3rd stringer. That aside, I hope that Sam tears it up in the all-star games and combine and gets a chance to be a 2nd or 3rd rounder. His predisposition to throwing INT's may hurt him though.
  16. Current underclassmen RB's that are headed to the draft (barring any mind-changing): Jamaal Charles, Texas James Davis, Clemson Rashard Mendenhall, Illinois Darren McFadden, Arkansas Ray Rice, Rutgers Steve Slaton, West Virginia Kevin Smith, UCF Jonathan Stewart, Oregon Considering he has to compete with these guys and the graduating seniors in this year's draft, I think it's a no-brainer to stick around and potentially be one of the top guys next year. Hopefully nobody with the wrong intentions is getting in his ear. I'd hate to see him come out and drop to the second day when he could stick around and be a 2nd-rounder or so next year.
  17. Oh I know that Bo won't be Suh's position coach, i was more saying from a gameplan/alignment standpoint than technique and position-type stuff.
  18. This is a post to waste our time and give us something to discuss in this, the slow period between bowls and signing day. Last year, it seemed that Suh's job was merely to occupy blockers and hold his ground on the line of scrimmage, whereas Dorsey routinely feasted on opposing backfields. Now, obviously this has something to do with the fact that Dorsey is one of the top 3 players in the country, but my question is, with Bo coaching Suh and implementing packages that have him wreaking havoc instead of sitting on his thumb, could we see him develop into the beast we all expected last year?
  19. As long as he's just a coordinator, I don't see a problem. It's when he's in charge that things fall apart.
  20. The parity really doesn't matter when powder puff teams could have scored 50 on us with relatively no problem........
  21. Completely agree. Can't stand them or the media that bows before them. That said, they are a great team, although the win over Illinois does little to validate that. If the Pac 10/Big10 would pull their heads out of their asses, we coulda seen Georgia vs. USC. But nooooo, they still cling to the Rose Bowl tradition like it's 1902. Morons.
  22. While I don't see them being next year's Kansas or Mizzou, I expect the Cyclones to be much-improved next year (though I don't foresee quantum leap in the record). The key is going to be how Meyer's replacement at QB plays. I could see a 6-6 season with the potential for maybe even 7 or 8 wins depending on how good Kansas and K-State are. As far as the Huskers go, 8 wins would be good with next year's schedule, though to be completely honest I bet a friend 20 bucks that they'd get 9.
  23. Does Cody Glenn still have legs? I heard they were amputated.
  24. I believe the name of the scheme we were running was called "Don't tackle anyone".
  25. Couldn't agree more. We nearly never ran between the tackles, mainly because of the scheme we were running. We didn't drive block anyone, we just blocked a zone, which is a pu&&y way to run the ball IMO. It was stretch left/stretch right, and that was it. Hopefully the new coaching staff can show Marlon some film of what they have in mind now that will convince him that he'll have somewhere to run next year.
