  1. Carriker's short shuttle was 4.18. For reference, average for linebackers is 4.2-4.3.
  2. He was also in the top 5 for the 20 yard shuttle. I think he opened some eyes today, people know he can catch the ball and block. Tied in the top five with 37 inch vertical and 4.57. Not bad at all. Way to go Brandon.
  3. I am lucky enough to have the NFL Network on my basic cable. He has been dominating all week. I have recorded all the practices and he hasn't been blocked. Stew has looked good as well. I hope AC slides to the Steelers. I get to see them play every week.
  4. Football is a lot different than it was when TO was coaching. Gone are the days of stockpiling players on scholarship and them waiting to play until their senior season. Everyone wants to play as a freshman and 85 scholarships really makes the coaches recruit the right players. I agree there is no comparsion on the records of the coaches, but give Bill some time to change continue changing the system. We were all over Tom once because he couldn't win the "Big" games. I think it's fair to give BC some time given all the changes in college football.
  5. First I have to say, I often question the playcalling and the overall game plan. However, I remember doing that when TO and FS were the head coaches. So, I have to say that is nothing different. Overall, I am happy about the direction of the program. Before people jump on me about being happy with medicocrity, I'm happy about the direction not about the current position of the program. I do believe we will continue to return to our place at the top with BC at the helm. All in all, this argument is rather stupid in my opinion, because none of us are the AD so we can't make the change. What we can do is support our program and continue to be some of the best fans in the country.
  6. Have to wonder how many fans went to USC and then to the CCG and now can't afford another trip afte the holidays.
  7. Not trying to be a smart ass, but he plays four sports. Football, Basketball, Track and Field, and Baseball. In Iowa the high school baseball season starts in April or May and ends in July allowing someone to play four sports. Nonetheless, I am excited about this kid. I think he could be special.
  8. He's been catching a lot of flack for it over on pedia, but he has been on the money with the last 3 recruits. Here's to hoping he's right
  9. I've seen his weight listed everywhere from 225 to 205. If its the latter, I say he should stay at safety. Yet, even if he is closer to 225, I may just want him to play SS. He'd kill people back there... If he's as good as advertised, he should play safety. Probably the easiest way to get on the field. I would love to have someone that size patrolling the middle of the field.
  10. Nebraska, in an effort to improve the defense against the pass, brought in a recruit that can really fly!
  11. I think he got into trouble while living with Deion Sanders in Texas. I think he stole one of Deion's cars. I believe Deion tried to adopt him, or let him live with him for a while. I may be wrong, but I think I remeber reading that somewhere.
  12. Helu will probably end up on the defensive side of the ball and Mendoza is someone to help us in the return game. Maybe someone who can line up in the slot a creat mismatches with his speed. I don't see either of them competing directly with Castille. Even so, why is he afraid of some competition?
  13. Nice to see Bo get some respect from the coaches. I have long thought that we give him a lot of crap about being one of our worst linebackers, but when you watch him he is very rarely out of position. He uses smarts and technique to get himself in the right position to make a play. After that he uses his athletic ability to finish the play. SO is a great athlete and a great talent, but he has yet to become a great linebacker. In my opinion, he tries to make plays without technique and smarts. Sure he makes some great plays, but it's hard to be a great linebacker if you can't play much more than half your games. I find it hard to believe that people think Bo is overrated when he makes plays every game. SO can be great, but until he manages to contribute consistently like Bo I will always take Bo over Steve. My two cents.
  14. I believe Asante is being recruited as a safety. Said today on scout he gave the visit a 9.7. I like our chances with the guy. I hope he is N
  15. Ian Johnson played yesterday shortly after that collapsed lung. Scored 3 touchdowns, I think. Did something happen after the game? As far as I know he is playing.
  16. Watched some replays of the game he played in his week. He made some really good throws with a tight spiral. Also had on hell of a 70 yd touchdown run that sealed the game for his team. I believe they play in the championship game this week. The plays I saw him make remind me of Vince Young. Just my 2 cents.
  17. The Huskers being ranked lowly isn't new... we are in the Midwest and we get overlooked (and I think we're also hated) by many journalists who vote. I think we'll move up after the Big 12 championship... when we win... just so BCS will be able to tout our ranking when they have to put us in a bowl. Have to remember we have only beat two teams with a winning record KSU and A&M. Kansas is 6-6, but that doesn't give us a lot of pull with the outside media. Have to remember most of those guys don't watch us play, but look at our record and who we have beat. I am not defending them because we are better than those other teams, but just my opinion. Edit: Forgot about Missouri and I was at the game!
  18. Being in the rehab field, he'll get that speed back, or be very close. It all comes down to how hard he works in rehab and how comfortable he'll be one that knee. That being said, I don't think he goes because I would be shocked if he is projected earlier than mid 2nd round.
  19. Agreed, but I won't trust Murtha there till he finally seals his spot there as a starter. It is taking forever though...we've see flashes of greatness from him before and I know he can be the guy there for us. Murtha and Hicks started at tackle today. Patrick played with the second team. Hicks started at right tackle for Slauson. Murtha has started the last 4 games??
  20. especially after so much trash talk before the game about how they wanted to hurt us so much we were limping into next week. hahahah, I doubt we'll be limping. But rather skipping for joy that we're not a Buff okay, someone tell me about that one. I saw it but was confused as hell. How in the world did no one pick up that was a trick play. Did we not see where the ball was placed? It was so obvious something strange was going on. Wer have been in that formation a couple of times in the last couple of weeks. I believe it is called the "Swinging Gate". Anyway, in the last couple of games we have shifted and kicked an extra point, etc. Yet another example of how Callahan is setting up plays two or three games ahead.
  21. My bad. I just think that Peterson has more tools to make that happen. I was more scared of the freshman than Lane for the A&M game. Regardless, I hope it will be a good game and either team will bring out the best in us.
  22. didn't they say the same thing about Javorski Lane? Not even a comparison. Peterson made us look average last year, and he's good enough to do it again. I don't think Texas can run the ball against us.
