  1. I wish Joe nothing but the best at North Carolina. I've always liked Joe and how he tried to maintain a positive attitude during the 2004 season. Unfortunately, he's just not cut out to play QB in a pro style offense of any kind. Now he could probably run a more run based offense with simplistic passing routes and what not, but pro style no. I wish him the best at his transition to WR. He used to be quite a fleet footer in 2003, but seemed to have lost it in 2004. I hope he can find it again.
  2. Yeah, but Keller is a very vocal leader on offense already. It'll be hard not to have him as one of the captains. When your QB is a fiery vocal leader, that's a big deal.
  3. Charges were dropped indeed...because she's not an NU receiver. HEYO!!! HAHA, sorry bad joke.
  4. Sam Keller Cody Glenn Cory McKeon Bo Ruud I'm going with 4 guys. 3 are obvious, but I like Glenn because he busts his butt everytime he's on the field and really tries to improve and help the team no matter what. Most would think it'd be Marlon Lucky (who's most likely going to be the starter) but, I really like Glenn at this point.
  5. Awesome! That leaves: Jeff Garcia, Chris Simms, and Bruce Gradkowski...who are basically the only QBs worth a crap. Plummer isn't coming back, I know it. He wouldn't start for the Bucs, so he's going to stick to his guns and retire. The other QB with Zac, I heard was just basically to have another QB for the other squad. He's not much from what I've heard. So...in my opinion it's Zac vs Gradkowski.
  6. I think nothing should be done to him, until he's PROVEN guilty. He is technically innocent. Remember, "Innocent until proven guilty". HE should be allowed to practice and what not, but when the verdict comes out, then the suspensions should come into play depending on what exactly the verdict is. It could go up to kicking him off the team. But suspension from games, is A LOT of punishment for someone who basically has FULL INTENTIONS of playing the NFL. He's then labeled with "Character issues", and loses much needed experience, and playing time to accumulate stats, for scouts to even sneeze at him.
  7. You know what I'd like to see? The defense lined up and what appears to QB, vulnerable...BUT WE KNOW THIS...then at the last second (or 2), audible the defense and move into position to make QB go "WTF!?" and either 1) call a timeout 2) freak out and forget to call a TO and get a Delay of Game or 3) freak out, call the play, try to run the play, and come off the sideline still saying "WTF", as the special teams come out so we can kick our extra point for our INT/Fumble Return for a TD I'm not even joking either. I like defenses that play games with the offense, kind of like New England did (more so) when Romeo Crennell was there. Sometimes have 1 or NO down lineman. Oh man it was great to see the look on the QBs face.
  8. DLine: As they were our BEST players on defense, they weren't our strength. Mainly because they weren't used in a manner to become a great strength for the team. Too often (especially early) we dropped the ends off in coverage to "help" with our DBs. But I said all season, if you don't pressure the QB, nothing is going to matter in terms of helping the DBs. You could drop all 11 guys and it wouldn't matter. You have to pressure the QB with ALL FOUR lineman at least. An errant throw is always the worst case scenario from rushing your line and getting near the QB. So this year? I actually think our dline will play much better than we are anticipating. We have GREAT talents in Barry Turner and Suh (I'm not going to try and spell his first name haha). Suh is just an unbelievably powerful DT and Turner just knows how to get to the QB and is progressing quite well. The other two spots, we'll have to see how things pan out over the spring. But I don't see our Dline being a big liability like it came off as, after losing 4 starters. Linebackers: We do have GREAT starters at linebacker, but you're right, depth is becoming somewhat of an issue. We have Blake Lawrence coming in as a freshman and could very well make an impact, more than Dillard his freshman year. But with Octavien (if he stays healthy and in shape), Ruud, and a now healthy McKeon...we will have one of the better linebacking corps in the Big XII. GREAT experience within those 3 guys, McKeon is a VERY solid MLB, Ruud has natural abilities, and Octavien has natural insticts...you can't coach that. They should be our strongest unit this year. At least I believe so. DBs: I'm still a little worried, and it has NOTHING to do with Bowman being out again. It has everything to do with the schemes we ran last season. Over compensation for all our DBs (as done by Elmo and Coz), hurt them more than we realize. They were rarely put into position to make plays and far too often lined up up to 10 yards off the receiver. With some of the receivers we faced last year, and will face this year...that is a NO NO. However, we will have significantly better safety play this season. We have Green, Thenarse, Murillo, Asante, and even Culbert who could all play safety. As they all won't, some will move to CB or stay at CB...we have great talent in the safety department. That, will help our corners tremendously in coverage with the ability to help cover "over the top" especially for our very physical but short guys like Cortney Grixby. Overall: We will have a better defense than we had last season. With the help of some formidable lineman replacements, an extremelly experienced linebacking corps, and better safety play (for help with corners) our defense will be quite improved. I feel good about this unit. Lots of hard nosed, hard hitting, guys...WITH SMARTS.
  9. Yeah, it was some sort of affidavit, where it (like you said) only tells one side of the story. I just want to get this crap over with and move on, get to the practices, the games, let's go...I'm tired of it!
  10. Ugh, don't remind me about Special Teams. Our Special Teams has been abismal at best since 2002. We haven't returned ANYTHING for a TD in terms of returns (as far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong). Not only that, but our coverage is sad. I don't like worrying every time we kick the ball if it's just going to end up in our end zone. And speaking of kicking...do we NOT have someone (not necessarily a kicker) who can boot that ball into the endzone!? I know they moved kickoffs back 5 yards, but seriously. Oh, and we NEED to be better at kick returns. Bottom line.
  11. Has anyone found any pictures of him yet?
  12. I think this season we're going to see a lot of 2 running back work from the Packers through Morency and Jackson. They are both about the same, but Jackson is a stronger runner with the ability to break and slip away from tackles easier than Morency. But, they are both talented running backs and this is Green Bay's best case scenario having them both healthy and getting some good playing time with the most of it going to Brandon.
  13. I can only hope that we do not move to a 3-4 base. That will not help our defensive line out at all, and as we do have VERY talented LBs, we don't have the athletic ability to pull that off...at least AT THIS POINT. Maybe later on in the season as a nice little stunt package, but right now I don't like that idea. Then again, half the time anyone writes anything about us...they just don't like us, so they want to stir up Husker Nation.
  14. We're dropping. We started out (a month or so after the season ended) as being #13, then 15, now 18. Ah well, who gives a crap. Sometimes I want us to be lower until it matters. The media seems to love it when we're ranked in the top 10 (um, which hasn't happened for a while of course) and then start voodoo practices so we fall and fail miserably. Then Husker Nation is pissed, then the Huskers bounce back, but it's too late. What did I just say?
  15. Great...another twist to the story. *Sigh* Although, I'd take that over physically resisting arrest.
  16. Which I feel is a good thing. Callahan has had to deal with things like this before. Pedey really hasn't...wouldn't want something done from someone who hasn't really had to do something like this before. That's for sure.
  17. Man I wish nothing but the best for Zac. He was a helluva guy and a helluva player for us here in Nebraska. Lots of heart. I really hope he makes the team.
  18. Oops, sorry I forgot to do this...here we go. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? 7 Years...since I went to UNL and played in the UNL Drumline for 3 years 2) What/who led you to The Nation? The University itself 3) Where are you from originally? Omaha, Nizbriggity 4) Where do you live now? Omaha 5) Favorite Husker memory? In the stands for the 2001 matchup against Oklahoma (at home). Knowing something "special" was going to happen. Mike Stuntz lived next door to my roomate and I. So we waited the whole game, just waiting and waiting. Then I remember I was eating a slice of pizza and heard; "Eric!!! Eric!!!" I looked up and the OTHER Eric (Crouch) was running down the sidelines and my roomate and I looked at each other and just started screaming before he even caught it. It was one of those rare moments that you know something awesome is going to happen, but you are still surprised to see it. Not to mention, being on the two-page picture in Sports Illustrated (Background). 6) Worst Husker memory? How loud the stadium was in 2002 against Texas when DeJuan Groce nearly ran his punt return for a TD. The crowd was absolutely insane, loud, and just downright crazy. The Huskers later lined up for the last play of the game, the pass went up the stadium went silent, and it was picked off. Only a minute roar from the far tip of South Stadium was making noise. That was it, the upset over Texas...wasn't going to happen. 7) Number of home games attended? Wow, I don't remember...I attended 1 in 94, 1 in 99, and all the home games in 2001, 2002, and all but 2 in 2003. 8) Number of away games attended? 1...KSU in 2004 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? Jammal Lord's QB wrist band, but without the plays on it 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) The Drafthouse in Omaha. My wife is the bar manager, it's a great atmosphere, great crowd, GREAT food, and the beer is always ICE COLD. 180th and Pacific 11) Favorite all time player? Cory Ross without a doubt. I had class with him in 2002, and always thought he should be playing more. I saw how shifty he was when he was put in for more or less mop up duty. To see him arise like he did with the Huskers in 2.5 different offenses (2002 and 2003 were different, a little), was just incredible. He had so much heart and determination. I loved that kid. 12) WCO or Option? WEST COAST without a doubt 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Pederson 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Herbie, Lil Red irritates the hell out of me 15) Favorite Husker play? Any 5 wide set is always nice 16) Favorite game-day beverage? Crown and Coke 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) My buddy I worked with at First National
  19. Just think...what if he had been starting the whole season? Sigh. Best of luck to ya BJax!
  20. He did in fact sign with the Bears as an Undrafted Free Agent. He also, has made the first round of cuts...seems to be doing well so far. But like some of you have said, it's going to be special teams...where he makes the team.
  21. This is Zac's best opportunity to start out with. Gruden likes Zac a lot, Zac knows the offense more or less so there's not a ton that he would have to learn, I just like this fit. Plus, I made a promise to myself that I would be a fan of whatever team Zac ended up on...thankfully, it wasn't a team I despise...like the Patriots.
