  1. I'd say 7 points is what home field advantage is worth for us, at most. maybe a little less...
  2. I've been on the field a couple of times when goal posts were being torn down, and another time when they had greased them to prevent it. I recognize the potential for danger, but I think anyone on the field kind of assumes the risk that something might go wrong. It was my choice, and no one could be blamed if I was injured, but me. Thankfully I did that about 20 years ago, because today I would probably be arrested and branded a felon (the last guy to run on the field at a Cubs game is being charged with a felony!). Anyway, if we beat USC this weekend, and the goal posts come down, I would say it is about more than a simple victory over USC. It would be a celebration of the statement to the college football world that "We're Back!"
  3. Just get a Runza sometime during the weekend. Unlikely you've eaten anything like it before, or will again outside of Nebraska. Everything else worth seeing and doing will be about football!
  4. My best friends' daughters' second cousins' sister-in-laws' fathers' German Shepard told me that Steinkuhler will be fine for USC. sweet.
  5. Anyone know who it will be? I have a few in mind that I am hoping will not be in the press box on Saturday...
  6. What's up with Steinkuhler's nagging injury? And did Dixon get hurt on Saturday? The trainers seemed to be looking at him after a few plays on Saturday. Could be trouble if they are both hurt...
  7. Found it on huskers.com. Here's a link to the schedules: Callahan Show
  8. I just got my slingbox hooked up at my mom's house in Nebraska this weekend. I'm back home now, and wondering what channels and times I can find the Bill Callahan Show. Can someone help me out??? Thanks.
  9. this would be for obvious passing downs like 3 and long yeah, ordinarily that is what one would think, but in that case, it isn't really news. it is getting hyped like this would be used for more than 3rd and long situations.
  10. A 3-3-5 gives me concerns about the ability to stop the run...
  11. It is very easy to say those things. He is right about Tommie Frazier. And he is right about the changing nature of college football. It is hard to be dominant for the long term. That doesn't mean it is impossible, just that much harder. I have no complaints with BC yet. He has made progress each year, and this year will be another test for him, just like every other year. BC will be a great coach, when I don't think that he has something to prove...
  12. wtf, i don't understand how this article is perpetuating anyone's hate for her....
  13. '82 game Paterno just got in trouble for commenting about Big 10 officials intentionally making bad calls and referred to one game where he won. PSU wasn't in the Big 10 in 1982, but I suppose that game could have had Big 10 officials (trying to find what he said). Anyway, Paterno said: Paterno Story
  14. Same with 82 (see Penn State game) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOePPSdNtqE anyone have a link to a clip of the touchdown call in the '82 Penn State game?
  15. Lots of good shows to mention, but I've been catching some All in the Family reruns on a local tv station. i vaguely remember it from my early childhood, but it is just as good as any tv show that is on today. probably too controversial to be on tv today though....
  16. to the extent that eithe party can control the judiciary, it will be a long time before the democrats "control" the judiciary. look at the u.s. supreme court, the ages of the justices, and who appointed them....
  17. Boolah-Moolah Kickoff Time Published: September 1, 2006 Let's give a cheer for the old University at Buffalo Bulls, perennially one of the worst teams in football, as they take the field this fall against two national powerhouses, Auburn and Wisconsin. Win or lose, the Bulls thereby double their appearance fees to $600,000 per game. ''It's all about the money,'' observed the head coach at West Virginia, sparing sports fans the how-you-play-the-game bromides after his team was unceremoniously dumped from Buffalo's schedule to make way for one of the power teams offering fatter paychecks. Despite its 1-10 record last season, Buffalo's value for big-time opponents is rising because the National Collegiate Athletic Association has added an extra game to the season. Weak teams like Buffalo are thereby in greater demand as sure things on the winners' schedules. Buffalo will probably be humiliated on the field while its two new highly skilled opponents pocket easy victories in the competition for national ranking and bowl games, The Times's Pete Thamel reports. It's a marketplace shift. Football is one of the few profitable college sports, and the 12th game will supply extra general revenue to university coffers. But that doesn't stop college officials from offering excuses: Weaker teams will be honed, not pulverized, by overwhelming opponents. Some of the extra money pays for weight machines and training rooms to groom underachievers into college football mammoths. In boxing, where euphemisms are scarce, ''bum of the month'' is the traditional term for booking weaker opponents to fatten a prospect's record. But Buffalo's team deserves no so such slight. We wish we could say the same for college football's corporate masterminds.
  18. I don't understand this. Your always going to have that one lowly team looking for a payday. Take the lowest bidder. Plus those one lowly teams are in high demand lately, because they are the only teams willing to agree to an away game only, without a reciprocal home game. There was an article in the New York Times last fall about teams getting into bidding wars to play the University of Buffalo.
