  1. Whoever the starters are it's heads and shoulders above what we've had in the last 8 years, both depth wise and talent. Tackles: Moudy (high 3 star), Sirles (high 3 star), Moore (high 4 star), Sterup (4 star), Coffey (mid 3 star) Guards: A-Rod (4 star), Admire (will be 4 star IMO), Klachko (4 star), Ash (high 3 star), Qvale (very underrated 3 star) Center: Reeves (high 4 star) I didn't put Yoshi on here bc he's a juco. IMO the starters in 2 years will be: LT: Moore LG: Qvale C: Reeves RG: A-Rod RT: Sirles
  2. That is the EXACT same thing I have been thinking since all of this news about Mizzou not hearing from the big ten broke. Mizzou not going to the big ten and getting left behind could be one of the best things that could happen to us. Every year they have at least 3-4 four star recruits and many other quality three stars.
  3. so do you know this is what he's thinking for a fact or what? I take it you know him personally if you know this or did he say this in his rivals interview?
  4. rivals has to re rank their players. Some kids don't blossom until their senior year or don't make it to any camps until the summer before their senior year or get hurt for their entire junior year. Can you just keep a kid out who tears up the competition in 5A Texas bc he didn't have a good camp performance or didn't have a great junior year? I agree, it's a luxury that our coaches don't have for the most part, but they do have the luxury of waiting to see how someone performs at camp or how they do during the season. Hell, I bet at the very least half of our commits in the last four years were a result of a great camp performance or a great senior year. I'm not saying the guys we offer, bc we usually offer the guys that have been on everyones radar for two years first, I'm saying that guys that end up commiting.
  5. That was the funniest post ive ever read on here...he makes it sound like he's going away to get executed.
  6. Its things like this where it really seems like kids are being punished for committing early...how is Tyler Moore not anywhere on this list? He has offers from damn near everyone and his film is completely dominant against very good competition. It blows my mind that he's not on this list.
  7. Does anyone know whats going on with this guy? I really would have thought he'd be on our commit list by now and he even still is showing just one offer, from NU. Is he waiting for other offers, have we backed off, are his grades not that great?
  8. I think we could get by taking only one linebacker in this class. We have Whaley, Fisher, Compton and Martin I believe all sophmores. Its very possible that David could redshirt this year and still be a junior in 2011. It's also pretty possible that Harvey Jackson moves down to linebacker if his frame allows him to put on around 30 lbs. I think next year we'll see us go after a few linebackers and sell the fact that we'll be losing five linebackers in a couple years and they can come in and redshirt and have a chance to start as a redshirt freshman.
  9. So they think 160 people are better than Moore? That's a thinker.
  10. well I'm not trying to rub anyone's balls but I do appreciate the updates that the people who do get information on other sites. Even if they turn out to not be true, it's at least exciting to read about the potential.
  11. That doesn't explain the three other years he didn't see the field. I understand he was completely lost in the playbook when Cally was here but the offense was simplified and he showed a ton of promise when he was in there. I really can't remember too many times Brooks getting the ball thrown to him and dropping the ball. With Paul, Kinnie, Gillyean, Cooper, Bell, Henry and Mcneil there should be absolutely no excuses for an unproductive passing game this year.
  12. I started a thread about Brooks right after he ran his 40 at pro day and took some heat for saying what I said. Maybe it was bc it's been talked about so much though. Whoever makes the decision to plug in receivers for certain plays needs to be re-evaluated. Chris Brooks didn't see the field IMO bc he didn't block like a tight end. I understand it's nice to have good blocking receivers but we really won't maximize our explosion potential until we start putting our playmakers on the field regardless if they are great blockers or not. Chris Brooks was consistently making plays when he was given the chance. He rarely dropped balls and it appeared that he was never given the chance to stretch the field. It's all really confusing and dissapointing. I've heard Brooks speak several times on local radio shows and he is one of the most well spoken, humble, hard working huskers I can remember hearing. I really hope he does well.
  13. Yep all appear to have some really good things they can play off of. Bama has their returning starter returning as the current heisman. cal just had their running back drafted in the first round which I'm sure they are playing up a lot. Texas is Texas and is less than an hour away from him and are supposedly going to run the ball a lot more which I'm sure they are playing up all they can. Last, but not least, Nebraska has his brother who he's very close with on our team currently. We also just had a true frosh come in and contribute in a pretty big way which I'm sure they are also telling him that he will get a ton of playing time his true frosh year and are able to back it up. We are also getting a lot of really good pub from a lot of papers and websites so we may be playing that up. Bo has always said we are going to succeed with you or without so if you want to be a part of something special come to nebraska, and he can obviously back that up very well. I also think its going to be a close race that's going to go down to the wire.
  14. Dont forget about Dijon Washington as well. He was a pretty highly rated recruit coming out of high school.
  15. It's fine if our qb's only run about 10 times, I have no problem with that. The thing is though, having a running threat at qb isn't just about having the qb run. It's about opening up other lanes for the running back to run through. If the defense knows they don't have to respect the qb running then they can just key in on the running back every play. Sure we can eliminate the qb run game entirely but good luck running the zone read and having people actually respect the read part. That would essentially make us into an I formation running team with no point of having a dual threat qb, which again is fine with me, but then stop recruiting dual threat qb's.
  16. I can understand slightly changing the play calling to fit our qb's style but we don't at all. It actually seems we do the exact opposite when it comes to their strengths. I pointed out Cody Green in the TT game. I watched Lee, someone who proved wayyy too many times for my liking that he could not run the ball effectively, run the zone read and speed option and draw plays only to gain one or two yards at a time. Then when Green came in, someone who has proven to be a much better runner than passer, we passed the ball probably 70% of the time he was in there. At that point our defense was still holding them and it was still early enough that we didn't have to force the pass. If there was another Peyton Manning and we were running the zone read, option game it seems we are shifting to, why would we recruit him? In that case we would have to completely change our offense bc there is no way that someone with the speed of Manning or most other pro style passers could gain the respect that they are actually going to keep the ball. For example, the Texas game in 07', we completely shut down their offense when McCoy was in there bc he wasn't that great of a runner at that time and we could focus all of our attention on Charles. When Chiles came in we had to pay a ton of attention to him and Charles went off. I just think if we are going to commit to this zone read offense then commit to it, if not then quit recruiting guys like Green, Carnes, and Turner. Turner may be able to play a different position but Green and Carnes I don't believe will want to switch for anything.
  17. What I mean by my first post was we need to have a system year in and year out. IMO it's not going to help anyone if we alter the system to fit what we have at qb. There have been comparisons to florida and texas..like someone mentioned before, look at the talent they have around them. Florida has ten times the offensive talent and speed we do. I think the reason TO was so good for so long was bc he stuck with a system that worked for this region and the types of recruits we have the best chance with. I know he changed up his offense a couple of times but it's not like he was recruiting a Frazier type qb then in the same year recruiting a mark sanchez type qb. He knew what offense he wanted to run and recruited guys that would fit that system. When we recruit qb's the way we are; offering one mainly running qb then one pure passing qb it makes it seem like they have nooo idea what offense they want to run. It's almost like well what do I have to work with this year..ok I'll implement a pass first offense. I think that's why it usually takes us 4-5 games to find out what type of team we are going to be offensively, bc possibly the coaches don't even know. I wish if they were going to recruit these great athletes for qb then stick with it, don't try to make them into these polished drop back west coast passers. If you are going to recruit pro style qb's then don't try to make them run the zone read or speed options. I saw wayyy to many times last year Lee, having no business whatsoever running a speed option only to dive forward for one yard. I saw too often in the texas tech game, after Lee ran zone read after zone read after speed option, come in and be made into a drop back qb. Pick your system, recruit the athletes that fit it, and commit to it.
  18. That article that Nexus posted got me really excited about this kid. I also think this is the exact type of recruit that Pelini wants, hard hitting, tough guy who will play through almost any injury. It also showed me that he understands the tradition and expectations we have here when he was talking about the state of nebraska and the rest of husker nation. Sounds like the work ethic and measurables are there as far as speed and hitting ability go, it appears he just needs to have a little better fundamentals.
  19. What the hell is going on? It still appears we have no idea where we want our offense to go in the future. We have perhaps the top dual threat qb committed to NU this year and one of the top in last years class and the class before that, yet we are still going after pro style qb's.
  20. Good post....you also shed some light into what you are thinking. The reason I am not as high on him as some is mainly, yes, bc of his stats. I guess IMO even as a junior if you are a legit D1 recruit you should beat out a senior. If he's rushing for over 100 ypg and he's not on any big schools radar then why couldn't he beat him out? Why couldn't he rush for over 100 ypg? As for the whole him being a defensive recruit, I really can't even comment bc I didn't see one highlight from him playing defense. I understand he's growing and learning how to be a football player but that's just the way I think about it. Like I mentioned in a previous post, I think a ton of growing as a football player is done from junior year to senior year so I do really hope he has a great year.
  21. So this amazing athlete who is the fastest guy in the state is used as a weapon only to surprise people in class B football? Man sounds like a home run recruit to me. By the way, I don't think I have to have a ton of knowledge of a kid to know that his stats on offense are by far less than average. Defensive stats can be misleading especially in the defensive backfield so I'll let that go. I never once even hinted that Crick was a good offensive player in high school but 67 tackles from the defensive line is far better stats than Davies stats on offense. Man that full ride to Colorado State is pretty impressive, but bottom line Davies biggest asset is his speed and a guy that has a full ride to freaking CSU ran him down. I'm not in any way saying #81 is slow or not a good athlete, just that if Davies is as good as people are saying he should have strolled into the endzone. And don't come on to the board and act like a know it all bc you can point out the fact that some recruit has a full ride to CSU or the syle of their offense, or spit out stats about Crick. Congrats on finding the info, well done! If this kid is as good as you say he is, why isn't he the #1 RB? Why don't they get him the ball more often? If they focus so much on running why don't they put him at QB like most other teams do with their best player? Come on McShay, let me hear your thoughts.
  22. No I see what you're saying, crap happens. You also kinda hit it on the head, when I see a guy, particularly running back, getting less than 400 yards I'm thinking how is that possible? Hey, I hope he does well this coming year. I'm not down on Nebraska guys at all, in fact I wish we had more talent in nebraska every year bc it would make recruiting so much easier. I'm just skeptical with some of them bc high school football in Nebraska isn't that great relatively speaking so when you're not tearing it up it makes me wonder why. Especially at running back where you would think if he were that good he'd get at least 15-20 carries a game. With that said, he was only a junior last year and a ton of growing is done from junior to senior year so hopefully he does tear it up this coming year.
  23. I'm not discounting what he's doing in track one bit. But I'm not concerned about his track accomplishments. It'd be one thing if he was a track guy and every time he touched the ball he was taking it to the house, but it appears to be far, far, from that. less than 700 total yards against class B competition in Nebraska? He probably is a great athlete, in fact he'd have to be one to run that fast in track, but that doesn't mean he's a good football player. There is no way to compare Davies to Carter bc Carter's film was ten times better than Davies. If his speed on the track translates to the football field then there is pretty much nobody that could keep pace with him on the football field. I guess my thought process is, is if that were the case he'd be running cirlces around the other teams, and his stats are far from even being effective. You can say that I don't want to offer a nebraska kid all you guys want. I just want the best athletes and if they aren't from nebraska then fine, if they are fine. I have no problem at all offering guys like Reeves, Leverson, Crick, Pensick, and after watching some film on Cotton I'm actually pretty excited about him as well. Someone just answer me this: what reason can you see that a guy so fast and so worthy of a D1 offer has the stats he does? I keep reading the fact he's probably tired from playing both ways, so I looked at his defensive stats and I don't think he had more than 20 tackles and no INT's. Ok so maybe he's playing a lot of offense, nope, less than 400 yards rushing and less than 300 yards receiving. Maybe he's returning a lot of kicks, nope, I believe he had one return for over 30 yards. So when is he getting tired? It doesn't appear he's contributing a lot at any facet of the game.
