  1. Perfect. I agree with this, but will remain a "healthy skeptic" until year 4 or 5 rolls around.
  2. Umm.... Callahan was the antithesis of what Nebraska Football has been about these last 50 years. People ripped on him for very justified reasons. I see you failed to notice that I wasn't the only one posting contrary to your point, but you chose to focus on my reply instead. I appreciate your fascination with me, but you have to realize I don't like you "that way." Wow, guess you got me there... Ok, look at a thread from 2003. Sure we'll find a lot of people praising FS...and a lot of hate. Is he the antithesis of Nebraska football too? Looking over my record, it appears as though I did in fact reply to everyone who directly replied to my initial posting. You might have to use your magical MOD powers to find the quoted posts, but I think you probably have a little bit of free time to kill.
  3. How Great is Dobson Suh and Amukumara So two guys are enough to establish a trend? I listed Suh and Prince because they are two guys that have had the national talking heads drooling over them. Two guys doesn't establish a trend, but I'd say opposing coaches every week saying, "that's one of the most physical teams we've had to play" is a trend. Does being a physical team directly correlate with a team's S&C program or does it correlate with a coaching staff instilling a "physical brand of football" in it's players? I believe both are at play and that you can't link the "physical team" brand to the workings of one guy and his S&C staff...especially after a relatively short period of time.
  4. sigh...typical knapp. Beat at his own game so he resorts to the emotion play. "I can't believe you're dogging us for giving one of our coaches a pat on the back" ? Seriously? Wow...look at any thread from 2007 and you'll see a lot of people praising Callahan...and a lot of people hating him. People "dogging" a coach after someone else has said something nice seems to happen quite a bit. Also, I think you forgot to read this part of my post:
  5. "bulked up, added strength while retaining speed"...so essentially you're referring to the vast majority of college football players in America over the course of their careers. I have nothing against Dobson and I think he'll be great. I'm just saying that I think it'll take a few more years of output (positive and negative) before one can really determine his aptitude. I'm anxious to see how his first class of freshmen do once they're seniors and/or running through the combine gauntlet.

  7. Keith Williams' 225 lb bench performance would suggest otherwise. Hopefully he really did just "cramp up" and our guys' upper body muscle endurance isn't actually that poor.
  8. Still can't believe that at almost 320, Keith Williams only put 225 up 23 times...

Damn...I've put up 225 on the bench 17 times before at 180lbs...He must have all his power in his legs..or they must not concentrate on the bench in training...even though it is an important functional exercise for football

@Chaddybox: AMATEUR! 19 reps at 165 my first year of grad school! :)

You are definitely right, though. Developing upper body endurance is especially important for linemen who are hitting and extending their arms over an entire game/practice.

uh, Nebraska football is all about power. The team mainly benches during the spring and summer leading up to the season. Pure benching is not as important as people make it out to be. Having the power (through cleans/snatchs) to knock off your opponent is more important.

  9. Average isn't even in the equation. You have to take each individual game on its own merits. And A&M doesn't qualify as a tougher team. They only held two teams to single-digits all year, and one of them was a D2 school. This. Consider last year, but especially the year before when we won the Sun Belt. High 30s, 40s, and 50 point games against JV teams work into the mean scoring average just as much as eggs against UT.
  10. I watched the entire thing and didn't hear or see anything remotely related to either Jimmy or Warren Buffett. FAIL.
  11. No doubt about competition! Now, with three guys that good (or, at least, three guys we think are that good) --- you want at least two on the field at the same time. I wonder if any of the three have the hands and, at the same time, the willingness to become a slot receiver. Add maybe Jamal Turner to the slot receiver list too and.... Could have TMart at QB, Kyler Reed at TE, Turner and Green/Heard/Abdullah as slot receivers, and Burkhead as RB (backed up by Green/Heard/Abdullah, whichever of these remain at RB)--- on the field at the same time. That is a small lineup --- but a fast and dangerous one. Sounds interesting. But the news of Heard making the grades is fantastic --- he is every bit as exciting a potential player as are any of the recruits this year. WR: Kinnie WR: Bell Slot: Turner TE: Reed RB: Burkhead RB: Green QB: Martinez That is one hell of a starting lineup at the skill positions. Every single one is a bonafide playmaker in his own right and can take it to the house. You've got tons of speed too. There are mismatches all over the place. The D would have to account for all of them. And note that both Burkhead and Turner would be legitimate threats to throw the ball, giving all sorts of trick play options. This offense is going to rock. The real mismatch would be the 12-11 player differential in favor of the Huskers.
  12. Take a look at the number of guys who took meaningful snaps at IB for the '95 team and you'll find the answer to this question.
  13. Bump Everything after Nintendo 64 (even it had, like, 2 good games) is lame. Let's hear more Nintendo stuff, hell, throw in SNES stuff too.
  14. The Wyoming logo, as cliche and way too overused by people who have little to no connection to the school/state as it is, is still one of the raddest logos in sports. One time I saw it aligned sideways on non-4 wheel drive Highlander and wanted to bust the window with the decal. That being said...I am considering going to this game (buddy's dad lives in those parts) but the alure of the Grove for the Ole Miss game that day is probably going to be too much to pass up.
  15. Pay him whatever he wants. I want to pictures like this associated with Nebraska. Would love to run into him on football game day.
  16. Sally, I think (know) you took his statement out of context. "My Powerball tickets never win" - I think I've won a few bucks on a couple of occasions "I never catch any breaks when it comes to my taxes" - Got screwed this year but did ok last year "Shawn Watson never had a clue how to run an offense" - Mostly true, but he had a few great games. "My wife never puts out" - She's pretty good in the sack If I say my wife never puts out, do I need to add an asterick with a calendar for you...or are you smart enough to figure out I'm not being 100% factual in my statement? I'm smart enough to know that a guy who plays Powerball or who is respectful enough to talk about his and his wife's sex life to random people is not a guy to listen to about....well...anything. Anyways, back to topic, apparently UT will go in front of the NCAA hearing board in June to discuss their football, basketball, and baseball program infractions.
  17. Because it comes natural for him? I will agree to this point, although I'm sure the MODS wouldn't appreciate the language, by, but not in this circumstance. If I got on here and said the BIG XII or Big 11 never gets in trouble for anything and that the NCAA takes it easy on them, I am 100 percent certain that a host of posters would tell me how uninformed I am and list examples of infractions that resulted in penalty and repercussions. To say that the SEC never gets in trouble for anything is uninformed at best and ignorant and childish at worst (I understand that 5 straight championships will do that). Don't get me wrong, the SEC engages in practices that at this point are somewhat legal (oversigning) that I believe are a bit shady, but don't say something laughable like the guy above and expect some sort of backlash, makes no difference if I'm an SEC fan or not. Sorry that I am more informed on the subject matter and posted examples to back it up...actually, no, not sorry. Also, I would put money that Tennessee is going to receive a decent punishment from the NCAA by the end of the week...just reinforces my earlier argument.

  20. Amen brother, although I had to edit alittle of your sentence. KRC1995: I will now have to make a mental note not to take your advice on movies. Nothing against you, but our tastes are way different. I hated True Grit and won't even consider watching Kings Speech. Loved Inception (a bit long though) and Grand Torino. I to am like you in some action movies. Hated transformers and the new James Bond movies are just horrible. Nothing about the new ones scream James Bond. I to am a huge movie Critic but mine is all about the gore and horror. With that said, they do have to be worthy movies. Loved the new Friday the 13th but the new Nightmare on Elmstreet truly pissed me off. Did watch Just Go With It and it was very funny. Haven't laughed so hard since The Hangover. I see your point. I mean, I don't think those movies (the two I listed) are GREAT, (only really like HMIV for James Caan and the poker scene) but they definitely aren't on my favorites list. Please share your knowledge of gore and horror movies. I love horror movies, but trying to find information on "good" horror movies (decent enough plot, actually scary, etc.) is kinda difficult. Movie Reviews from this weekend: I went into work both days and most of my friends were out of town so I was lame. Watched two entire movies (had seen both before). Can't Buy Me Love: Young McDreamy buys a semi-hot chick, gets to hook up with hot 80s trim. Gets called out and sleeps in his garage. Bashes a school lunch table with a bat. Rides off into the sunset with first girl on his lawnmower. Grade: RAD - (mainly for: proves girls really can be bought, slutty 80s chicks, poop thrown on a house). Cocktail: Young Tom wants to make it big, but is sidetracked by his somewhat profitable bar dexterity. Has a cool, British mentor. Sets up shop in Caribbean and deflowers a HOT Elizabethe Shue. Leaves Caribbean with rich, sorta MILF. Gets back with a pregnant Shue and takes over his uncle's bar. Grade: Cool + (mainly for: the awesomeness of Tom Cruise, my wanting to be in Jamaica right now, Gina Gershon asking for multiple orgasms).
