  1. We've improved in recruiting, that is a small bit. edit: actually, it's kind of a big bit, imo
  2. jftr foppa, i don't like USC also, i never claimed that you said usc had never played in a hostile environment, nor did i ever say that trojan quoted anything, all i did was point out the reason that he was talking about oregon, to which you couldn't seem to figure out. GBR
  3. I just pray that it isn't a repeat of 2005 in Columbia....*shudder*
  4. Enlighten me on when NU lost to a "division 1-AA team" lately Well now that I think about it I am not so sure. I was speaking of Southern Mississippi, but I guess I was most likely wrong and they are just a low-level 1-A
  5. CFN has us picked to play in the Alamo Bowl, instead of the Big XII CHampionship at the same place? Do you tink they maybe made a mistake and put the wrong one? http://cfn.scout.com/2/646582.html
  6. Ummm....this kid's 2.2gpa is showing...because if you add all those things together, there is not a place in the country that matches up to Nebraska. Especially when we have average tight ends and he would probably be a go-to guy as a frosh..
  7. Great point and it seems allover everyone is thinking Mizzery is going to win the North and that's fine by me because that way we sneak up on everyone and they once again get to taste second place!!!! Hopefully all the Mizz fans feel the same way, and buy up all the tickets, and then are forced to sell them at cheaper prices to us in order to get rid of them when we win the north! 8)
  8. Here's all I had to say We went from getting beat by 60 points by a ranked team and losing to a division 1-AA team, to beating 2 teams in the top 25 and almost 3 (Iowa State, Michigan, Texas Tech) the next year, to beating 2 (or 3?) teams in the top 25, and losing 3 games to top 10 teams by a total of 19 points... Seems like if we improve the same amount going into 2007, we will end the season with a BCS-bowl berth and a Big XII Championship, not too much of a hot seat position
  9. So, are the upper-level sideline seets taken? Like the 200-level seats? Because they didn't go on sale too long ago, but when I filter my search for just those Ticketmaster can't come up with anything..
  10. YES IVE BEEN WAITING FOREVER FOR THESE!! excellent, excellent work
  11. Yeah, now that I think about it he wasn't the greatest with names, but his play by play was really good imo
  12. Does anybody know who the play-by-play commentator was for the Missouri game in '06? He was, at least in my mind, by far the best announcer we had all year, and even without comparing him to the other games he just seemed like he was really good in general. Lots of emotion when he called the plays, as can be seen best in Hawsker's mizzou highlight video. Was just wondering who he might be..
  13. Missouri eh? Someone get ahold of Gabbert to call this kid!
  14. The Oregon comments that trojan made were directed towards the post that went like this, in addition to the other talk about how usc doesn't play in any hostile environments: So stop ragging eh?
  15. Not to take away from his amazing ability on the field....but does anyone know what kind of a student he is? He already seems to be a class act, just by listening to the interviews, but I am one that likes to look at the entire person, not just what they do on a football field (ahem, Lawrence Phillips =\ )

  17. Interesting debate...here's my take: In 2005, we were one play away from a 9 win season, with that one play being against a, in my mind, underrated #15 Texas Tech team. People seem to lose sight of this game in these transitional years, and what kind of effect winning it would have. If I remember correctly, we cracked the Top 25 rankings that week with the Iowa State win the week before. If we would have beaten the 15th ranked team in the nation that day, it would have been humongous for our program (potentially, but of course with the butterfly effect theory it could have turned out worse). The next year, we were one fumble away from a 10 win season, and extremely close to an 11 win season with the Auburn game and closer than people think to a 12 win season against Oklahoma. In my mind, we are already there. Sure, all the points that were brought up in the previous post, the lack of depth, the quarterback situation, etc. are all valid, but this is a special team that finds ways to compete with the best REGARDLESS of all the flaws. Having said that, I think that if things go well for Nebraska this year and we win the big games we need to win, with the help of a very tough schedule, we could very well be in a chance to play in the championship game, depending on how the big xii championship goes of course. If things take a rough turn like they did in 2006, and we are still just one tiny step away from those big wins, I think that 2009 will be the year to wait for. However there is still a good chance that we could have a very good season in 07, but one loss would send us into a BCS bowl that isn't the championship game, which is perfectly fine with me. I would prefer climbing the ladder to a top 5 ranking and a possible championship bid, seemingly coming out of nowhere, but if we get up to a good bcs bowl this year and remain in the top 10 afterwards it will help us in the long run with BCS standings and starting off higher than the last few years. Ugh, I kind of started rambling at the end of that, but I got it through I think..
  18. You guys DO understand that it was not a beef against Nebraska, but rather a love for all the other teams such as '05 texas and '04 usc that drove him to act so childishly, right? I am not condoning his behavior by any stretch of the imagination, but come on, Herbstreit likes Nebraska just fine (maybe not so much the Nebraska teams of past, but he has no beef with Nebraska now). In '05, he said that Lil Red was his favorite mascot, and after the Alamo Bowl he seemed happy that Nebraska won and was very encouraging to all Husker fans. Granted, he was an absolute idiot on national tv, but also granted, he did have a good point for the '71 team.
  19. Hmmm, i didn't see this thread when I posted my wallpaper thread....my mistake!
  20. "See that guy over there? His hair smelt horrible!"
  21. YOu know, for the size of Columbus, there really are way too many bars in this town.. just a tought
  22. The Alamo Bowl broadcast was one of the best I have seen and heard in past years...tirico always does a nice job, and Herbstreit did fine too, albeit sounding like he was trying to hard to know what he was talking about. He even said nice things about how he was happy for Bill and telling Nebraska fans to be patient because the future holds bright things, or something to that effect. Plus, I can never forget his gasp on the end play when the michigan player got hit out, "OH MY GOSH!!". haw haw The Cotton Bowl, on the other hand, was the worst broadcast for a bowl game I have ever seen, entirely because of the commentary. I can honestly only remember 4 or 5 plays from that game, not counting the 4th and 11, hail mary passes at the end and the botched punt reverse. Pat Summerall may do a decent job on paper, but he is SO BORING! His monotone death rattle, coupled with an 11am gametime when I had been up late the night before, made that bowl game one to forget, especially because of the lackluster "lasting impression" from the 2nd half.
  23. y helo thar, nice to see all my fellow redclad supporters. i guess the thing to do is fill out this little questionaire, so here you are.. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? unofficially for 17 years, but i've only really, really gotten involved and into the sports over the last few years (just maturing i guess ) 2) What/who led you to The Nation? my family? the state? not really sure how to answer this one 3) Where are you from originally? I was born in Sioux City, moved to Jamestown North Dakota at the age of 2, and then to Nebraska at the age of 8, but always been a Husker fan. 4) Where do you live now? Columbus 5) Favorite Husker memory? I was going to say my first game attendance, but since that was against southern mississippi in '04, that would be lying. so instead, i would have to say the '05 alamo bowl (like i said, i'm still a rookie) 6) Worst Husker memory? the repeated chances at greatness snatched away (texas tech, texas) 7) Number of home games attended? two so far, looking to change that quite a bit now that i'm out of the house and into higher education 8) Number of away games attended? heh, none 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? i have a very simple white nebraska t-shirt that for some unknown reason, really appeals to me 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc. couldn't say, i like to watch different games at different places and with different surroundings every week 11) Favorite all time player? this is really tough, and call me cliche all you want, but i will go with zac taylor, mainly because he is the face of nebraska quarterbacks that i have been in contact with and familiar with more than any other 12) WCO or Option? i'm split down the middle; the option is the funnest offense in football history, and is equally as fun to watch, but the wco is also quite fun and is a healthy change 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? pederson will do 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? lil red (and NOT because i'm a rook), i mean he freaking bounces on his head! 15) Favorite Husker play? Frazier's run, Crouch throwback, or even better, taylor's attempt at a reception 16) Favorite game-day beverage? heh, diet pepsi or lemonade 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) my pal google there you have it (i am only 17 years old, just for the record) look forward to posting with you guys
  24. Very nicely made sig, quaint and stylish. The only thing I don't like is that there are too many people that call the wiggins kick in 97 "the catch", so i never know what to expect !
