  1. I remember reading something about Phils wife went out for a morning jog one day and got hit by lighting and died.. It was a long time ago but for some reason I remembered that... Pretty sad!!! I remember him being a really good D coach, but wanted to see what you guys thought of him..
  2. Yea see I said some of it was pretty out there and funny.. I guess at janitorial school they teach you CSI like skills now a days...
  3. Ok this is just an e-mail I recieved a little bit ago and its nothing to get all your panites in a bunch over its just talk, the only reason I am posting this is to hear what you guys think, so AGAIN DONT TAKE IT TO HEART!!! Some of this is pretty funny stuff!!! Okay let's talk... This is what I am hearing: Comes from a very credible source. Once again I can't name names but it does come from the late night janitorial staff within the athletic department. It seems that this unnamed person put the jigsaw puzzle together from shredded documents and came up with the master plan that has been discussed in the AD's office. Bo Pelini as the next HC - becoming the world's worst kept secret very quickly. Simi Kuli committed apparently to Tom Osborne with the very feeling that Bo will be the guy. This is coming from a few places now that are generally correct. Not the Kuli connection but Bo being appointed as HC. In fact there are rumblings from former NU asst.'s who have apparently been contacted on behalf of Pelini about joining a potential staff. And not just football coaches - there will be a change in Strength & Conditioning: Dave Kennedy is going to be let go. I know, you know that I like that idea a lot. But what I like even better? The name being floated as returning to UNL in that capacity is Bryan Bailey. If NU gets this, it will in itself put us way ahead of the learning curve. You already know that I am a big fan of Bailey - as are many in the S&C community; collegiate, pro and other sport specific. Okay let's talk defense: DC? Bo really, really wants Phil Bennett, and feelers have been put out. Okay, he flopped at SMU but assembled an almost impeccable resume as a DC/defensive asst. He was the architect of that KSU defense; others have ridden his coattails to greater gigs. There's also the relationships that he has built in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area (and north TX) that he can utilize in getting some of those top-tier kids to come to Lincoln & consider NU. DL? Buddy Wyatt has a chance to stick around although a couple of names have come up - Carl Pelini (will find a spot on the staff) and Jimmy Williams. I almost don't know what I actually prefer here. I'm luke-warm on Wyatt, as you well know. So I'm indifferent as neither is really my #1 choice for this position. LB's? Just mark Carl Pelini down for this slot in ink. Bill Busch has an outside shot, but the more I hear the more likely it is that he is let go. His recruiting is stellar, but the new staff will be more centered around actually producing on the field and the development of players - weak spots when you pour over Busch's resume in Lincoln the last 4 years. DB's? Marvin Sanders will be making a return engagement in Lincoln. The guy would crawl back on all 4's to get a gig in Lincoln. He'll swallow the pride and not require a co-DC title. Well how about that offense? Early word is that TO actually favors Shawn Watson, though the CU version not the Bill Callahan version. So he'll get play here, though there are some real grumblings about Tom Rathman - yes, I know that I have not been one to believe the Rathman talk in the past, but it seems very real. Especially if you hear from some guy named Lane (ahem). OL? I know there have been Barney Cotton rumblings, and you know I wouldn't quite mind that. Though the name I keep hearing over and over is Kevin Lightner, OL coach at Ohio under Frankie. Not sure how he fits with Watson, but would mesh well with Rathman from all early indicators. A real up and comer in the coaching ranks. RB's? I hear Tim Albin - which I would be absolutely giddy about if it happened, for some obvious and other not-so-obvious reasons. I really believe that Albin is an up-and-comer with a very, very high ceiling. Would be a terrific get for NU. TE's? I think Joe Rudolph gets a serious look to return. There's the OSU connection as well as the Ohio prep recruiting that he has opened up. That and those TE's, albeit with limited talent, have played very well and developed under Joe's eye. WR? Gilmore is as good as gone. Ron Brown is the name I have heard bartered about. Would be incredible as RC and in the living room of so many young folks - as if I have had to tell you that. I'm shaky on this one, but if true I would love to have Brown back - in some shape or form. He could really be an integral part of this program moving forward. And yes, TO has told HCBC that he will NOT be returning in 2008. The players have already been informed according to a couple of parents; and while those parents feel for what the kids are going through they believe also that this staff should be shown the door as new leadership is needed at this juncture. A bit long winded I know, but some interesting tidbits that I thought you'd enjoy. As with anything, these things change from time to time - but these are the rumblings - very, very real rumblings - coming out of North Stadium these days... GO BIG RED!!!
  4. I feel sorry for that one guy on the right that doesn't have a letter painted on him. He went to all that time to paint himself yellow, only to have them run out of letters. He was supposed to be the exclamation point but they haven't covered punctuation in CU Honors English yet. That was pretty good!!!
  5. Ok so your taking opinions from a bunch of Husker fans on these boards and turning that around to say we need to stop talking about Coz cause he got a death threat and he might go postal?? He got one an it was sooo far out of line but the police will take care of that.. Our opinions dont mean crap to KC or any other coach out there its apart of the job.. Threats are not.. KC is a big boy I am sure he can take a little trash talking from some fans an plus unless he is on this board he does see the crap we say.. Remeber Mr. I dont read the stuff in the paper an internet..
  6. Ok dont be retarded here its know ones fault but the idiot that made the call.. We can all give our opinions about the coachs but when someone crosses the line like this person has it takes on a whole new meaning.. The coachs are gone they know it we know it so lets not leave a bad taste in there mouths when they leave... We are still and always will be the best fans in the country that will never change so lets not blame people but catch the guy that did this an then when the coachs leave we tell em they did a good job and thanks for trying then move on...
  7. Pictures worth thousand words!!!
  8. Thats pretty bad.. I mean the man is on his way out of town anywaz why leave a bad taste in his mouth about Nebraska.. Coz isnt a very good coach but I will give him that he doesnt deserve this crap and he is a pretty stand up guy.. I just cant believe someone would do that, cant wait till they catch him.. Outside of football these are real people with real familys, just like when a bunch of idiot fans booed an heckled Coz's son at a lincoln high football game early this year, I didnt think that was funny nor right an the man just strugged it off an said thats what happens when your a football coach... I hope Coz sees this was one fan and he doesnt represent all the fans...
  9. Ok field goals are different.. I mean if you can kick one I say go for it I dont care what the score is as long as there is more then 2 mins on the clock... The offense job is to score so kicking a FG is not as bad as a touchdown which I think Kansas was running up the score a little bit, but like some have said its the D's job to stop them an if they cant then so be it.. The guy sitting behind me at the game on Saturday wasent a big fan of the plays BC was calling in the 4th he didnt feel it was wise to do to KSU being they will rememeber this ass whooping but we both agreed bets are off if it was done to Colo they deserve everything we give them next week...
  10. No I didnt see or hear about that stuff on the sidelines but all BC was trying to do was show the world how great a coach he is and how his system works soooo frickin well... Basiclly working on getting some job offers.. Just shows he is an idiot
  11. Billy boy promised Keller the job and thats why he came here last year.. No other excuses are needed he promised Keller the job cause he was worried he didnt have a good QB to replace Taylor.. Just shows how bad of a coach he is not being able to see whats right in front of him with Ganz an hell who even knows what else we have there with the other 3 qbs we have.. Ask your self whens the last time Keller threw for or 500 yards and didnt have a turn over.. Ganz is awsome and I cant wait till next year to see him run his offense with a new coach...
  12. Callahan will pump his stats for his next job. He will run up the score just cause it will be his last game... Ganz is just awsome an will have a great day.. Nu wins big..
  13. Ok you may have a point but prove he said it... Just like I cant prove he said cause I wasent there, but I heard someting that I thought you guys would like to know is it true maybe I guess we will never know an it doesnt matter its a rumor whoever our next coach is we will never know how things went down an nor will anyone care as long as we all like the new coach!!! If the owner of Duncan Aviation did know it was BO an yes he would know who flys into his airport no one can prove he said it... Again its a rumor take it for whats its worth
  14. Hahaha the funny thing is you took my post an broke it down word for word even tho I already said there may be some holes in my e-mail I recieved... The point of the post was I heard something an I chose to share it I never said it was correct word for word an that you need to believe this... Its a rumor figured some news was better then no news... I am not mad you torn my post apart I was just trying to let you know what I heard in case someone else heard something of the same...
  15. You might find this excerpt from CU Sports Information Director Dave Plati to be interesting: As the annual anniversary for the “Fifth Down” game approaches (we actually play on the date—October 6—this year), the thing always surfaces in one way or another. This time, there was a reference to it in a Rocky Mountain News column by Bernie Lincicome. The column itself was about sports cheats, from illegal enhancers to taping sideline signals to air conditioning at the Metrodome. The passage about the ’90 CU-Missouri game read like this: “Without that famous fifth down at Missouri, Colorado does not have half a national football title to boast of, one it has never offered to give back.” But Bernie didn’t know that if there were any real cheaters that day, it was some in the Missouri football program. That’s the problem; some things fade away during time or just aren’t known by those who weren’t there. So I told him as he had never heard the story of the condition of Missouri’s Omni-Turf field, one which caused any one to slip if they weren’t in the right shoes. No one from Missouri made any effort to inform the opponent that they needed to bring a different kind of cleat. I have no doubts had we been wearing the same kind of show Mizzou had on, we would have left with a 48-10 win or something of that sort (as a point of reference, CU's tight end inexplicably slipped and fell at the 2 yard line to set up the 5th down series, when the endzone was wide open for him to just walk into). We were that good and had just finished playing perhaps the toughest non-conference schedule ever. And as we’ve always said, which common sense dictates, had we known it was fourth down, we’re not going to spike the ball to stop the clock, we’re gonna run a play. Missouri got even twice with CU, in 1997 when we had a touchdown called back for having 12-men on the field (when we had 11, the official jumped the gun, thinking he saw something he didn’t and blew the call), and one year in the men’s basketball tournament, when even Tiger coach Norm Stewart said they were the beneficiary of a cheesy foul call at the final gun that awarded MU two free throws that broke a tie, sending CU home to Boulder. Yes the 5th down was crap an colo got lucky but what team that wins a NC doesnt have a close game during the year from time to time an ends up gettin lucky?? Neb had there is in 97 when we caught the miracle catch in Mizzu... I hate colo as much as the next guy but one game didnt make there whole season they played great that year an had one bad game no matter what the excuses are they won an then won the NC.. They only have one NC and prolly will never have another one again so lets not ruin there one shinning moment....
  16. I feel bad for the players that will have to put up with him for the next few weeks.. He is just a prick and your all right its going to rub off on the players.. I cant wait till this is all over I hope no one holds this whole thing against any of these players ie like pro teams looking at the seniors but I am sure most of the pro guys know how much of an idiot BC is an will feel sorry for our guys for having to deal with him.. These last game if not 2 games should be for the players its just too bad when they win it makes ass clown look good too...
  17. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say IF there is a guy who writes for ESPN and he has this information, why is ESPN not spreading it all over the net like a wildfire? In this day and age of cutthroat media types trying to get the upper hand on their colleague's, I would have to assume IF this were true, ESPN would have put this on their website already. But I have to agree with a couple of other guys. There's been no proof that Pelini was on the aircraft. If, and this is a big if, Pelini was on the aircraft and talked to Osborne, why was it for only a short time? If Pelini agreed to take the job, it could have been handled without him ever having stepped foot on the plane. He could have made one simple phone call to Osborne and said "Yep! I'm your man. Have your people call my people and work out the details". Simple as that. I'm not buying into the Pelini rumors one bit. And I hope for the Pelini-ite's and Gill-ian's out there, you don't get your hopes set on one of these guys being the next head coach cuz Lord help us all if one of these two guys isn't hired. If one of those guys isnt hired then I trust TO will find the right one.. I dont know a whole lot about some of the other names that have been talked about as possible coachs, so I dont know the pros an cons to there coaching skills an how they run a program but since Bo an Gill have been talked about the most I feel there is alot of down side to both of them.. I just dont want to see us make a mistake with one of them an then have to go thru this all over again down the road.. Now I am not saying there isnt alot of good things about both of these guys but from what alot of people on this board have commented on I am not sure who I really would want.. My heart says Bo but who knows who the right one is..
  18. Noo I understand there isnt a whole lot there but I see it as somethings better then nothing.. Do I believe it happened maybe but like you said not a whole lot there to go off on.. As far as my friend making it up no I know 100% he didnt make it up to mess with me he isnt that kind of guy... Like I said no one is talking right now from the AD so some news or rumors are better then nothin I guess...
  19. No way with the way his attitude has been lately he doesnt deserve to stay here.. All he does is pound his chest when we do good.. All this I am a great coach I took 3 QBs an made them good crap makes people sick, but then when the team does bad he says the players didnt do there job blah blah, never gives credit to the players.. The man is an idiot....
  20. Perfectly said. Turner Gill was a great quarterback, a wonderful assistant coach at NU, and a wonderful example and leader for the kids in our program. He is really doing a great job in Buffalo and developing quite a following there. He is experiencing a high degree of success. My opinion is that he should stay there and continue what he has started. I respect him too much to put him in the high pressure job at Nebraska, a position that if one fails is skewered beyond reason. Thats what I am worried about if he fails what would people say about him.. Too nice of a guy to see that happen to him.. Stay in Buffalo finish what he started down the road we can see where were at..
  21. Ok here is the e-mail I recieved from my friend take what you want from it but its pretty much the same thing I said when I posted this... Maybe this will answer some question maybe not but here it is.... the 2 stories I heard was that Bo was in flowin into town. My friend got a call from an air traffic controller who had a flight number and the FAA'S website and had him track the flight. Originated out of Baton Rouge LA and came here with one passenger, sat out at the airport (Duncan Aviation) and left with the same passenger and went back to Baton Rouge. I had him call the Athletic office and talk to someone I know, she told him Tom Osborne wasn't available and was supposed to attend an engagement with Perlman but something came up. When asked if it involved a plane she said, "I can't deny or confirm that". A friend of mine down the street has a son who went out to eat last week and went into the bathroom and a couple guys were talking football at the urinals. One told the other that Bo was in town and at Duncan Aviation last week. My friend's son asked him how he knew...he said, "I should know, I own it". It was Bob Duncan. A guy I work with has a girlfriend who's in charge of catoring for Embassey Suites downtown. She said that last week they got a strange order for just a fruit tray and a meat and cheese tray. She said it was out of the ordinary because it was such a small order. It was for Duncan Aviation. Today a friend of mine who has a son who writes for ESPN told me his son told him that Osborne informed Callahan last week that he wouldn't be coming back next year. So....that's what I know!
  22. Ok think about this whoever TO hires he isnt just going to ride off into the sunset saying ok this is the coach I hired for you an this is the right AD for you now I am done I am going fishing.. TO is going to stick around for a bit to help the players and coachs out with whatever they need.. TO cares about Nebraska and wont let it fall on his watch, so I dont think TO will screw up, but if he does then like someone else posted you move on and deal with it till we find someone else.. I feel TO will hire someone that cares about the program as much as he does an BD did when he was alive.. We are in good hands with Dr Tom.. The fans and everyone else Love Tom and he has done alot or us, so if he messes up ohhh well life goes on.. I dont think Solich was a bad coach I think maybe had some issues but wasent given a chance to correct those problems!!!
  23. Ohh I didnt think you were ridculeing anything.. I just figured I had something to offer the board some liked it some didnt ohh well life goes on!!
  24. I like the fact that you guys are coming into Boulder cocky... you hang onto that feeling as long as you can, I want your loss to hurt a bit. Not as bad as 2001 of course, but just enough for it to be noteworthy. Callahan's just playing games with your hearts right now. Gotta say, I absolutely love the guy for it! Just wont happen Neb wins no doubt about it... My hope is your guy now turned our guy Shawn Watson calls all the plays for the Huskers and doesnt let up on the gas till the last gun sounds.. Ganz will have something else to prove this game just cause its Colo so I expect alot of scoreing just like you have done to us in the past..
