NU 35 PSU 27 Pass = 177 Rush = 219 GO BIG RED !! -
I voted for Georgia and Oregon, because I think they'd be intriguing matchups of Bo Pelini vs. Mark Richt and Chip Kelly, respectively. And (the 'O') Autzen Stadium as well as ("between the hedges") Sanford Stadium would be cool to visit!

For better or worse, Nebraska is tied at the hip with the Texas-dominated-corporate-culture of the Big 12 league. It is intriguing to consider the NU-KU-MU trifecta to the Big 10/11, though. Especially if the Big 10/11 goes SUPER CONFERENCE with 16 teams, adding a UConn and either Rutgers or Pitt. Imagine a mega-$$$ league with 2 eight-team divisions might lead Texas to go independent, if the Big 16 were to actually happen (which it won't, IMHO).

Travis Justice stepping down as Sports Director at KMTV
AuroranHusker replied to sarge87's topic in Husker Football
Yeah, following Travia's lead, go from KPTM Fox 42 to Action 3 News... GO JJ, GO JJ, GO JJ!! That'll work.... -
You are correct that the Huskers haven't beaten a single team in the Top 25. They've beaten TWO. Yep.... Mizzou was ranked #18 (Coaches' poll) and #24 (AP poll); OU was ranked #23 (Coaches poll) and #20 (AP poll); and, in the case of close calls, VA Tech was ranked #13 in the AP poll.

Asante & Henery honored as Big 12 players of the week
AuroranHusker replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Football
It is. It's pretty heartening to see this kind of thing again. Now if we could just get our offense going, we'd be in great shape. Maybe next year. I'm a bit surprised that Roy Helu Jr. has not garnered at least 1 weekly honor. Who knows, maybe this week (and/or the next week ). And, yes, let's hope next year's O steps up their game! Eh, don't think they hand out conference POW awards during the CCG, only 2 teams playing..... I know what you're saying though, maybe the O-line gets things figured out and Helu busts off 150 w/ a few TDs against the Buffs.... Of course the conference doesn't honor an offensive player of the week for the title game.... the idea is NU may need Helu to have that type of performance these next two games. Hope Helu delivers the goods (again). -

Asante & Henery honored as Big 12 players of the week
AuroranHusker replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Football
Technically, it's the 6th honor for the Huskers: Henery has 2 ST, and the other 4 are four different Husker defensive players (Suh, Crick, O'Hanlon, & now Asante). Pretty impressive D & ST! -
Colt McCoy (Texas) and teammates Larry Asante and Alex Henery (Nebraska) have been named Big 12 Conference Football Players of the Week as selected by a media panel. McCoy (offense) picked up his second honor of the season and sixth in his career. Asante (defense) nabbed his first career award while Henery (special teams) was recognized for the second time this season and third occasion in his career. Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week Colt McCoy, Texas, QB, Sr, Tuscola, Texas Colt McCoy completed 32-of-41 passes (78%) for 396 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions in No. 2 Texas’ 51-20 win over Kansas. The victory was the 43rd of his career, the most wins by a starting QB in NCAA history, and earned the Longhorns’ a spot in the Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship. He also rushed for 29 yards to register 425 total yards on the day. McCoy connected on TD passes of 68, 41, 38 and 12 yards. The four scores went to three different receivers. He completed a pass of at least 34 yards to four different receivers. The senior completed his final seven passes of the game in leading the Horns to a pair of game-sealing touchdown drives. He led UT to scores on nine of 12 possessions, including six TD drives that averaged 64 yards. Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week Larry Asante, Nebraska, S, Sr, Alexanderia, Va. Larry Asante made a season-high 10 tackles, caused a fumble and intercepted a pass in Nebraska’s 17-3 North Division clinching win over Kansas State. The senior safety spearheaded a defensive effort that limited its sixth opponent in seven home games to nine points or fewer. His second-quarter interception inside the Nebraska 20 secured a 10-3 halftime lead. He then forced a fumble at the Nebraska 1-yard line in the third quarter as NU maintained its 17-3 advantage. Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week Alex Henery, Nebraska, PK/P, Jr, Omaha, Neb. Alex Henery punted six times for a 45.5 average, made his only field goal attempt and both PATs in Nebraska’s win over Kansas State. He pinned K-State deep in its own territory on two occasions with punts downed at the KSU 1 and 3-yard lines. Henery leads the Big 12 in punts inside the 20 with 22 through 11 games, including 15 in Big 12 play. Of his 22 punts inside the 20, 13 have been inside the 10, including seven pinning the opponent inside its own 3-yard line. He remained perfect on the season in PATs and improved to 16-of-19 on field goals. http://www.big12sports.com/ViewArticle.dbm...TCLID=204838922 Way to go Larry & Alex. Go Big Red, beat the Buffs!

Ahh, that would be the scene of Cally's "greatest dump," eloquent words spoken by the sideline reporter to Billy C. after the '05 Alamo Bowl. And, of course, the scene of Pelini's first W as a Head Coach (over the Spartans)!
-
Just about any bowl game beats the 'toilet' bowl of '04 and '07...... FWIW, '09 is the last year that the Big 12 will be associated with the Sun Bowl; and, NU needs a W over Arizona (last matchup was a 23-20 loss in the '98 Holiday Bowl to the #5 Wildcats in Solich's first season).

Huskers-Sooners on TV, but kick time not set until Sunday
AuroranHusker replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Football
All three games listed will be on TV: 2 games on ABC and 1 game on Versus channel. -
Nebraska-Oklahoma stands a strong chance to be on ABC, but could also end up on the Versus network. ABC will televise Big 12 games at 2:30 and 7 p.m. on Nov. 7. The NU-OU game is one of three contests in consideration for those two windows. The other games being considered are Oklahoma State at Iowa State and Kansas at Kansas State. Versus will select the game not chosen by ABC for telecast at 11:30 a.m. The selections will be announced on either Saturday night or Sunday. http://my.journalstar.com/post/Husker_Extr...ot_settled.html
