  1. Mind explaining why? People want to point out Bo's "failure" by simply looking at the few games where his defense had troubles sooooo..... I figured that I'd go look up a few of everyone's 'favorite' DC's defense's performances over that past few years to point out a simple fact that THERE IS NO PERFECT DC!!! EVERYONE HAS A BAD GAME!! It's really not that hard to understand...by those who are unbiased anyway.
  2. What we have listed are a few defensive results (yards given up, and points given up) for 5 DCs. Can you name all 5: a, b, c, d, and e? *hint-the first one should be easy for Husker fans. a) vs. La Tech-569 total yards-27 points vs. Kansas State-512 total yards-40 points vs. Texas-503 total yards-37 points vs. Arizona State-461 total yards-28 points vs. Colorado-504 total yards-30 points b )vs. LSU-598 total yards-48 points vs. Virginia-502 total yards-34 points vs. Syracuse-604 total yards-50 points vs. Miami-556 total yards-56 points vs. Miami-466 total yards-41 points c) vs. Virginia Tech-481 total yards-27 points vs. Utah-550 total yards-38 points vs. Virginia Tech-446 total yards-34 points vs. Georgia-552 total yards-51 points vs. Clemson-474 total yards-24 points d) vs. Georgia-446 total yards-37 points vs. LSU-488 total yards-30 points vs. Georgia-417 total yards-45 points vs. Alabama-477 total yards-31 points vs. Georgia-430 total yards-45 points e) vs. UCLA-434 total yards-44 points vs. NC State-514 total yards-44 points vs. Florida-445 total yards-34 points vs. Iowa State-443 total yards-31 points vs. NC State-463 total yards-34 points
  3. Academic experience? Medical staff? Funny how he didn't mention the coaching staff. Kind of lets you know how his conversation with TO went IMO.
  4. I would like for that rumor to come true but, I keep reading that Tom Rathman is supposedly quite happy living in California and is quite happy coaching in the NFL.
  5. I've heard this rumor from other places as well. Seems he's a west coast guy anyway. And considering his recent fine from the B12, TT may be more than willing to let him go to get him out of their hair Look at where TT was before he arrived. I don't think that they want him 'out of their hair' because of something as little as that. I do like the thought of him going to a place like UCLA. I'm betting he'd have a MUCH better chance of producing a title contender there.
  6. I too have heard this rumor. I don't know if it's true or not but, it wouldn't surprise me if it was. IMO BC was clearly trying to show the world "See, my offense does work". He should have called off the dogs in the 4th quarter. To constantly pass the ball like that was low-class IMO. How many days until he's gone? 13? Thank goodness.
  7. It's all starting to make sense (if true). Rumors left and right about Bo coming to Lincoln. Some were asking "why would he do that?" Maybe he came here to sign a contract? The way BC acted after the game (walking off by himself) and not allowing media to contact the players (wanting his stepping down to be hush-hush)? Who knows? I do hope the Bo part is true though. I'd absolutely LOVE to have him here. I've always thought it was a mistake to let him go after '03. To think, we may just be able to correct that mistake!
  8. This is just my personal opinion but,... I don't think that it would matter one bit if Miles left for Michigan or not. I think that if we want Bo, we'll get Bo.
  9. I should probably quit waisting my time by responding to your incoherent posts. "LSU has GREAT athl;etes on defense, but he should be hold these better teams to 17 or less..." That's what I mean by 'incoherent'. As far as OSU having the best D this year...who exactly have they even played yet? Their defense (which has many of the same players) didn't look all that great against Florida last year. Bud Foster, Va Tech's DC is among the best in college football, that I can agree with. However, going by your standards what makes him better than Bo Pelini when you take into consideration the a** raping LSU handed his D earlier this year?
  10. OSU is #1 in points allowed and Kansas is #2, LSU is number 10! LSU has some CRAZY yards allowed early in season, which pads the yardage stats, but over last 4 weeks they have not been impressive at all! So why Pelini over anyone else? No LEGIT argument can be made! Why are SEC teams with 3 LOSSES still ranked? They are trying to keep LSU's strength of schedule above the other 1 loss teams and trying to help them edge out a possible 13-0 Kansas if it comes down to it. You're not the most intellectually gifted are you? LSU is #10! OMG!! Like being the 10th best scoring D is bad or something? "LSU has some CRAZY yards allowed early in the season, which pads the yardage stats." You do realize that statement can be said for EVERY BCS team, right? Please tell me you're smart enough to realize that? "but over the last 4 weeks they have not been impressive at all!" Florida - held to 314 yards - they're averaging 440 per game = held to 126 yards LESS than average. Kentucky - held to 375 yards - they're averaging 450 per game = held to 75 yards LESS than average. Auburn - held to 296 yards - they're averaging 343 per game = held to 47 yards LESS than average. Alabama - held to 254 yards - they're averaging 396 per game = held to 142 yards LESS than average. They only game in which one could even make an semi-valid argument about Bo's defense struggling a little would be the Kentucky game. I only say that because that's their ONLY loss so far this season. "Why are 3 loss SEC teams still ranked?" Probably because they're pretty good teams. Do you not think that FLorida or Auburn deserve to be in the top 25? Can you name 25 schools that would definitely beat them? "No LEGIT argument can be made" #1 He's been here before, he's familiar with our tradition. #2 He wants to come back. #3 He's a winner. #4 He can relate well to his players and he knows how to motivate them. #5 We'll regret it if we don't take him.
  11. I asked that question earlier and I'm still waiting for a response. My guess is that we'll not get one (assuming that the poster does some research before throwing names out there).
  12. Ya, imagine that. LSU's defense gave up some points during their 4 toughest games of the year. Florida, Kentucky, Alabama, & Auburn. All schools that were ranked in the top 20 at game time. I'd LOVE to know why you think that Venables or Strong are better DCs than Bo Pelini? Do you have any supporting facts to back up your beliefs or is if just your opinion?
  13. As much of a sour taste BC has left many Husker fans with NFL coaches, IMO those are the only 2 that I would even consider for NU. They both seem like animated coaches who could fire up their team. As it is though, Bo Pelini has been, and still is my #1 guy.
  14. The part about B Jackson surprises me a little. The part about Carriker doesn't surprise me though. He was a DE in college and now he's learning to play DT. I'm neither a player nor a coach but, I'd imagine that there's a bit of a difference there. Now, if you want to talk about whether or not Carriker should have been playing DE at NU, that's something that I'm curious about. IMO, he should have been a DT at least during his last year.
  15. I equate Kansas this year to ISU several years ago. They have enough talent and coaching to do well for a year or two but, they won't be consistently good. Mangino appears to be a decent coach but, all one has to do is to look at KU's record under him (especially their road record, something like 6-20) to see that he's not really doing that much better than some of his predecessors IMO. Heck, KU was a 10-2, Top 10 team not so long ago in '95. IMO, we husker fans give him too much credit based on his teams' performances against our teams the past several years.
  16. Auburn vs. LSU Auburn's D allowed 488 total yards - LSU's averaging 435 per game, = allowed 53 more yards than average LSU's D allowed 296 total yards - Auburn's averaging 340 per game, = held to 44 less yards than average This is not something unusual to see Pelini's D do; holding teams to less yards than average.
  17. "LSU played poor D against Florida"...? LSU held Florida to 314 total yards Auburn held them to 312 total yards I'm not seeing much of a difference here.
  18. Love Muschamp and think he's twice the DC Pelini is (OK maybe one and a quarter the DC). Auburn has just flat out shut down their opponents. Those early season losses to USF and Miss St. were mainly a result of their offense turning the ball over. Not sure what kind of head coach he'd make though. Would like to know the answers to Spartness's questions. Also, I've been enjoying the Perilloux chat over on the LSU board myself. All of the controversy makes for interesting reading. Check it out. Twice the DC? I've seen some posters who, for whatever reason, think that Muschamp is a great DC and that Pelini is only good (but not great). I'm curious as to why some seem to think that? Muschamp's defenses 2001-2004 - LSU 2001 - 75th in total D, 39th in scoring D, 10-3 record 2002 - 8th in total D, 15th in scoring D, 8-5 record 2003 - 1st in total D, 1st in scorind D, 13-1 record * 2004 - 3rd in total D, 11th in scoring D, 9-3 record 2005 - Miami Dolphins Assistant Head Coach for Defense 2006-present Auburn 2006 - 19th in total D, 7th in scoring D, 11-2 record 2007 - 8th in total D, 5th in scoring D, record 6-3 so far Total D average: 19th Scoring D average: 13th Winning percentage: 77% Pelini's defenses 2003 - NU 2003 - 11th in total D, 2nd in scoring D, 10-3 record 2004 - Co-DC OU 2004 - 13th in total D, 11th in scoring D, 12-1 record 2005-present - LSU 2005 - 3rd in total D, 3rd in scoring D, 11-2 record 2006 - 3rd in total D, 4th in scoring D, 11-2 record 2007 - 2nd in total D, 9th in scoring D, 7-1 record so far Total D average: 6th Scoring D average: 6th Winning percentage: 85.5% Even if one were to omit M's first year at LSU his #'s would be: Total D average: 8th Scoring D average: 8th Winning percentage: 77% again Can someone explain to me why Pelini is only just a good DC while Muschamp is a great one? Another favorite of mine: “LSU has better athletes than Auburn” Auburn’s D rankings the past couple of years: 2005 – 19th total, 6th scoring 2004 – 5th total, 1st scoring 2003 – 5th total, 9th scoring ^^^^ It would appear to me that Auburn has plenty of good athletes on defense ^^^^
  19. I firmly believe that Bill Callahan will/would have never fired Coz. I also firmly believe that Bill Callahan's ego will/would have never let him completely give up the play-calling duties. He's had 4 years. The product we're seeing on the field this year is all on him. How many of you guys had the mindset of "I hope we can at least be competitive against them" (before the USC game this year anyway) whenever we'd face teams like OU, USC, Texas, etc? WE ARE NEBRASKA! WE SHOULD HAVE A TEAM THAT WE CAN EXPECT TO WIN BIG GAMES! BC has had enough time. It's now time do dump him and bring in someone who will actually get it done. -------------------------------------------------------- Hire Bo Pelini Now!
  20. I'd love it if it were true. IMO we need to get the ball rolling as far as finding a new coach goes. ----------------------------------------- Hire Bo Pelini Now!
  21. He's 1-0 as a head coach. That's good enough for me.
