  1. Well, the upper class men have definitely quit on the team. That has been obvious for the last 8 quarters. They have no passion nor any desire to play for these coaches. It happened to Oakland and now it's happening here. I wonder where all those people who raved about our offense and also those who stated other teams we played just hade so much talent! IT IS THE COACHING STAFF!!! Is there anyone who disagrees?
  2. I disagree. I think the writing has been on the wall for 2 years now. Others didn't see it and criticized those that did. I don't blame anyone for supporting them at the start of the season and even 3 games into the season BUT the way they attacked those of us who KNEW the truth was a bit uncalled for. Like I said last week, let's just all get on a similar page so we can move forward.
  3. 2 years ago when I started a website everyone claimed was off base.
  4. We need to play a 3-4 We have more lb's than DL. This would allow our d-line to rotate a fresh guy in and we have plenty of depth at LB. This will also allow more guys playing off the line since we can't get off blocks.
  5. Umm the kids will care at the end of the year if they don't play anymore...I guarantee it. They are begging to contribute now and they are happy to be on the field but if Helu doesn't get anymore reps and he is 4th string again next year he will be pissed.
  6. I saw your pic. I am so sorry that two of your teams have been destroyed by this no talent (male chicken) sucker!
  7. I think he just replaced "cosgrove" with "Me" and "us". This statement was read after the Ball St. game...remember. Feel sorry for us, we really feel bad. This is a joke of a statement. He should say, I feel personally responsible and I will make sure the coaches get us on track. We are playing below OUR standards. He put it on the whole state and fans "expect so much". We expect NOT to be embarrassed week after week. He absolutely needs to go. He is passing the buck once again. Making everyone realize that they are sad (when they should be mad), we expect so much (when we just want decent effort), a strong conviction in what we're doing (by who????) And I can't believe he is SO in LOVE with Lincoln after 3 years. This guy is total BS.
  8. You more or less have said exactly the same thing everyone else says without taking into account what I posted. I realize that the triple-option as a running philosophy is not currently in use, but I'm mostly talking about it as a viable, workable theory that could once again be implemented in either our own team or some other team. Right now the best I can squeeze out of anyone is a circular theory with no other argument to satisfy my curisoty: "The option is dead because nobody runs it, and nobody runs it because the option is dead." Why does someone not ressurect it? Yes, the QB argument is valid, but you're telling me with all the atheletes out there today that we can't find 2-4 of them who can run such a system? That's a big pill to swallow. X I agree with you. The option is dead b/c coaches don't run it. I think it comes down to the scholarship changes in football also. Today it is very tough to have multiple athletic QB's. QB's want to be superstars and they are even transfering now if they can't play. With only 1 viable Qb I think it scares coaches to take their punishment. I think the triple option could work as you have stated. It is dead because of the difficulty to maintain that many athletic QB's and most QB's think they are all worthy of starting and want to be NFL stars. I also think coaches are seeing the opportunity to play these QB's at receiver and DBs and getting a lot of production their. Navy proves it can still work because they have no athletes and still run for a ton of yards. I think it's dead for other reasons so it's morphed to a spread or V offense.
  9. People should stop comparing how TO was vs. Callahan. Tom never had to get very upset and not to mention a "father figure" worked back in the 70's and 80's. This is 2007 and the land of "ME" so we need emotion when things are like this.
  10. We have a ton more talent then Standford, South Florida, Illinois,Kentucky, South Carolina, Kansas, Ball St, Colorado, Kansas St....should I continue? They would all beat us. And we are playing with virtually all of Cally's players so where is the results? The only good ones we have (aside from Lucky) were leftovers anyway.
  11. Which one of the three running plays don't you like?
  12. And that is the coaches fault. The attitude of a team stems form the attitude of the leaders. Look around any organization, company or team.
  13. What if we tied him to the goal post and for $20 you could throw a water balloon at him, $100 make him run sprints and for $1000 you could make him watch our defense. We could then get more than enough money to buy out his contract. The line would reach to California.
  14. The spread offense using a form of the option. I think some of you mean the triple option like we ran in the 70's and 80's. That version is dead unless you are Navy. The spread offense is usually an option offense when it uses the run. Did you not see Chase Daniel use it? The "option" is alive in a different form now. Vince Young ran a form of it also. The option only indicates that the QB make the decision of whether or not to hand of the ball or run it himself based on the play of the defense, usually the penetration of the DE and the setup of the LBs. So the option does work, but the triple option is dead.

  16. Not exactly, but something like that. There are things you say in private that you never say to the public. That is true in all aspects of life, not just sports. Welcome to life. I know that and I have been a coach. BUT you don't have to be a passive pu**y to the media either. You can show some emotion also. I didn't say tear the guys apart in the media but some harsher words are to be expected. But then again, everyone on this board is expecting too much, right? I don't think it helps morale to call out players or the team in public, in anything more than very, very, general terms -- for instance, "our defense has to be tougher against the run." And I think Callahan says things like that. Neither of us knows what is said behind closed doors.... I don't know what you or "everyone on this board" is expecting, so I can't tell you if I think you are expecting too much. If you were expecting a national championship or undefeated season this year then, yes, I think you were expecting too much. I have very high expectations and demands for Nebraska football as well. It is just that I think I am a little more realistic than most folks when it comes to recognizing what it is going to take to get back there. Also, I'm not going to judge a head coach on a handful of games this year. That's very reactionary, but typical of sports fans in general, and more so with Nebraska football fans. The posts on the board are ridiculous this week, suggesting that Callahan doesn't care about winning, etc. Yeah, I'm sure he enjoys losing and having the public call for his head. Give me a break. Well, here is my expectation of Cally, we will win 7-9 games a year which is unacceptable to me. That means we will lose 5 games a year. I think 10 wins is a standard b/c then you finish 10-4 which is barely top 25. Also, I NEVER SAID tear his players apart. Can you read my post? I think his words need to be harsher. Read his comments over the past 4 weeks and see if there is any change in attitude. He thought the Ball St win was "a good win"...seriously??? And I am positive he is really on his team behind closed doors but I would like to see some PASSION regardless of the wording. You can never tell if this guy has won, lost or is even paying attention. Great leader for today's student athletes...NOT!

  18. Too bad! I was told how 'stupid' I was for complaining about Cally and Co. So rather than arguing, everyone told me to wait and see and I would be wrong. That I had no idea what I was talking about and I didn't understand football. That we were getting so much better. So that is to all of those people who were SO rude to me. It has been there for a month. I ain't lying!!
  19. You beat this drum every week and yet their are coaches who use strong words all the time. They are usually called winners also. Oh. Yea. You're right. I am sure Pete had some harsh things to say this week after losing to Stanford. This is one of those things that makes me believe you can't be a coach. What coach in his right mind would come out and publicly throw his staff under a bus? It does nothing but compound an issue that's already huge in the North stadium. It does everything for people on a friggin messageboard, but nothing for the problems. Nobody said throw them under a bus but he can use words that are more harsh and show a little emotion like he cares. If you want to say, that isn't his personality then I will show you a team that plays without emotion. AND, Carroll will say something like that if they keep getting embarrassed like we do. It makes people realize he cares. Press conference are for fans and boosters so it will help. The players and coaches won't care what he says in the news conference. So a good coach yells at his players and staff but is nice to the media, and a bad coach is harsh in their comments to the media and nice to the players and staff? If he yells at people in the locker room they won't care what he says to the papers.
  20. He is not the right coach! He is not the right coach! been banging this since the start of the '06 season. I wish I was wrong now let's pull together and find a way to remove him. Oh, and see below
  21. give me a f'ing break, take all of your negativity and go cheer for AZ. Hell you grew up there, played there, I assume that you graduated from UA, but you dont consider them as your team? you have had some good comments on this board in the past but the hatred and venum that you spew has gotten to be to much. you have been placed on my ignore list It was meant to be a joke and I apologize if there are any sensitive people on here who take it too seriously. I was bashed for SO long about stating what direction our program was in. Also, what does me being form AZ have to do with anything???
  22. You beat this drum every week and yet their are coaches who use strong words all the time. They are usually called winners also.
  23. Matt Davidson said the same things during his short interview on ESPN last night during the game...there are only a few guys who are happy to be out on the field. Very little emotion i just watched that part ... im not a big davison fan , but he nailed it !!! I agree. And I'm sorry but this CANNOT be the coaches. I'm not saying that the coaches don't suck, especially on the defensive side, but I am a juco baseball player trying to make it to a divison 1 school after this year and I don't care who or what my coaches do I am extremely pissed when my team loses and would do anything I could to win. My coach right now is the most negative person I have ever met and will tear a player down in the middle of the game but that does not stop me from wanting to win. Not for him but for my teammates and if these guys could care less to be there then that is on the individuals themselves. Well football and baseball are 2 different mentalities and take it from a D-1 football player...coaching!
  24. Welcome....I haven't been pumping his name for 3 weeks or anything.....when you were bashing my ideas and opinions about our MEDIOCRE team And Major Applewhite is a very good choice when he is ready to be a head coach. Right now I think he is too young for this big of a program. He either needs a stop at a smaller program or about 3 more years as an assistant.
