  1. NU, aka "the not ready for prime time players," were pathetic. Looked like a bunch of guys who had never played football before found some uniforms, tried them on, liked the way they looked, and decided pretend they were football players.
  2. Its not that he forgot he is coached to look at the receivers not for the ball. Everyone in our secondary is taught to face guard, or react to the player not the play. Until that is changed we are not going to get better IMO. This is a major issue. Can anyone confirm this? Can't believe it. You have to following your man, obviously, but when the ball is in the air you have to become the receiver--go after it. If you can't follow both your man and the ball, you're in big trouble.
  3. Based on one game Michigan, ranked #5 going in, drops from the polls altogether! That's kind of amazing, even in view of their opponent. How could a team be so overrated? What does this say about rankings, polls, those who do the ranking? Does anyone think that Michigan will just roll over now and have a losing season? What nonsense!
  4. For a website with such honorable intentions though, doesn't it have an a-hole-ish, sensationalist kind of name? You know, it's almost like those intentions aren't exactly what the site is about. The top 5 reasons to fire Bill Callahan: Sam Keller and Blaine Gabbert. Fair point. Gosh, I guess this takes away from everything he's accomplished, though. Zero for two, mind you, with the first coming in the lost '04 season when OU was on top, and the second being a 31-24 game that was well played. Might want to check out Dr. Tom's record against Oklahoma in his first several seasons. Yeah, those people who wanted Osborne fired then sure knew what they were talking about, right? Just like the people who wanted to fire Mack Brown for the same reason, since he was obviously never going to get over the hump and beat the Sooners either. Jordan Congdon....seriously? Seriously, did the guy who wrote this run out of creativity? You'd think there'd be some broad, insightful reasons, such as "lack of passion," "disconnect with the players," "inability to put together a good staff", or "can't recruit"...oh wait. Finally, here's a tip....name your page something other than "Page 1." Hint: change the stuff in the <title> tag.... It typically takes a new CEO 5-7 years to rebuild a company. A football team is much like a company. What you want to measure is the attitude of the players, the new talent coming in, the direction the program is taking and, of course, improvement on the field. Typically there is no straight line progression. There are ups and downs, but at least some improvement should be evident year to year. And there are changes, adjustments, as issues and obstacles are met and resolved. Unlike a company, however, the turn-over through graduation (or whatever) is not controlable. You lose the best, as well as the worst, you have every few years. That's tough--and makes recruiting and player development an even larger factor than recruiting and developing employees for a company. Take a look at BC from this perspective.
  5. Hard to compare two players unless they are on the same team competing against each other. They are clearly different. I think the point you're making though is that Keller can help the team achieve the next level--help win the big game. If so, I think you're right. First, though, BC needs to balance the attach. Hard for a QB to have a large impact in a run oriented offence. Also hard to work off the rust and get your timing down when virtually all you do is hand the ball off. Balance is what the WCO is all about. We've got the beef--where's the balance? Let's hope it shows up at Wake Forest. After that, it may be too late to try to find it.
  6. Wake was really one dimensional. I don't think they can do that against the Huskers without getting killed. Nor can the Huskers do it against Wake Forest--i.e. be one demensional.
  7. I understand that a team has to do what works, but ultimately there needs to be more balance between the running game and passing game. Best way to work on that balance is against a lessor opponent. Let Keller work off the rust in a game they can win even with some errors. In that regard, the game against Nevada was something of a missed opportunity.
