  1. I wonder if it is somewhat possible that we'll be able to snatch a few LSU commits that did so because of Pelini? Assuming he becomes the coach, this is.
  2. Did anyone happen to notice Oklahoma's record for 1997? 4-8 It seems our teams may be even more similar than we thought.
  3. Just figured that in the spirit of throwing out some arbitrary information, I'd contribute as well. Not trying to be mean.
  4. You sound like the THOUSANDS of OU fans that disowned them until Stoops' second year. You are a Band Wagon jumping Front Runner. There are plenty of Loyal Husker fans that wear their team colors with Pride, WIN OR LOSE... Come on, buck up and wear it. I put my car flag out AFTER the OSU game, and I live in Freaking Oklahoma. (with the f'n hillbillies) That may just be downright tacky. Also, I really dislike it when one Nebraska fan calls another a bandwagoner...not that you care.
  5. In keeping the spirit of my previous week's posts; remember, it's all in good fun. Colt McCoy Turd Sandwich
  6. If some of the things claimed here ARE happening, it's no wonder why the fans and players of other programs hate us. Someone going to the Nebraska sideline, and yelling profanities at Bowman, Purify, etc.? If I ever saw that I would likely be in jail for the night...that person would not walk away unscathed. I do see some merit in criticism of SOME of our players...I really do...however, of all people...Purify and Bowman? Those are two of the few that I actually believe are giving 100%. Can you imagine what the other players might be hearing? Request to Nebraska fans: If you EVER see any fan getting in the face of players or coaches (yes, even the coaches...I mean, this is REAL life here)...please step in. Stop it. I know that it won't happen under my watch.
  7. I believe Simi committed, in large part, because of Osborne and their conversations. I certainly agree with you regarding the "what reasons they committed for" aspect. However, I really wonder if the recruits we've been going after - 4/5 stars - would EVER come here because of the academics, tradition, etc. I mean, SP and BC have single-handedly tried to destroy those traditions...it seems. I remember listening to a Jonas Gray interview (Lincoln-ESPN radio) the day after he committed to Nebraska. He stated that our academic All-American record impressed him almost as much as our academic program as a whole...which "was a huge selling-point" for him. Obviously, it wasn't that much of a selling-point... Predominately, recruits come to PLAY FOOTBALL...going to college/classes are ancillary.
  8. Do you really need to ask the question on whether staff "uncertainties" are playing a role in NU recruit's decisions? The only thing that will stabilize this thing is Tom Osborne, as of right now it seems. We're obviously witnessing the first of many de-commits. Suffice to say, with the exception of Steinkuhler (hopefully)...our FINAL recruiting class will likely look much different than what is now posted on rivals.com.
  9. "Those were the days..." Nice and annoying... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1...h&plindex=5
  10. What is sad is I can actually see us winning this game. Excluding last year, where I actually believe we were a very good team (thanks, Zac, Carriker, Bradley, Moore, etc) ---It always seems that we win the games that really don't mean anything. Sure, Texas is a ranked team, but how good are they really? I mean, they lost to KSU at home. And believe it or not, I believe our talent level is THEORETICALLY much-higher than KSU's. It's just a matter of, well...you know the rest. I could honestly see us winning this one...just be "positive." And when I say positive, I mean positive in the way that we really never know what team will show up, how the play calling will go, etc., etc. I'm certainly not going to say we're going to win out...I could just see our team "showing up" this weekend. Just to leave us utterly confused. :
  11. Who merged this thread? I kinda felt that the video I posted shed a "new" or different light on the subject of our coaching dilemma. I know there has been a lot of redundancy here...always has been, but why merge all these threads? You're, essentially, ensuring that no one will ever read these again. Almost every single thread I've read, the last two weeks, have offered no news, insight...basically any new perspective...why not merge every thread? It seems like the mods have been working overtime.
  12. BS Forum. Good hire, irrelevant in this area.
  13. Watch the first minute or so.... The man that made this video BLEEDS HUSKER RED. He used to be a HuskerVision associate...went on to work at ESPN. He now lives in Western Nebraska. Born and bred.
  14. Simple. Because they're Iowa/Iowa State fans. That's the answer. 'Nuff said. However, if a Notre Dame fan, especially this year, asks "How about them Nebraska Cornhuskers?" All I can say is just laugh...and then, when he/she is least expecting it it...just kind of slide-around to his/her side and put him/her in a choke-hold and say, "now who's asking the questions?"
  15. Though I'll likely be eating crow for this come Saturday night, but I also have a bit of a different (positive) feeling for this game. I don't know if it is simply that the apathy has completely taken over, or this: What in the hell does our team have to lose? I think we can all agree that this season is pretty much scrapped...unless we win out. I could just see our team playing loosely, more relaxed. I think that this can help explain a lot of upsets, when the underdog is completely written off, said underdog really has nothing to lose -- so win. I remember when I played ball (baseball, though), when we were written off...we would often give the other team a helluva a challenge/game...often winning. Of course, I'm an idiot, though.
  16. Mods are working over time...I just posted a very similar thread...it was on the board for about 2 minutes.
  17. Kansas is a very, very solid football team. Not much dazzle, but they are well-coached and they have tremendous fan support. Missouri's defense has surprised me, but I still say that they haven't really been tested by a cohesive football team. Besides, everyone knows that Missouri will collapse sooner or later. One loss, and the Tiger fans will look just like Husker fans. They will abandon that team and call for the Firing of the Coach. Texas Tech was a pretty cohesive team and MU rolled them. They led the country in total offense prior to that game, I believe. Granted SMU, Rice, UTEP and Northwest State aren't the best teams to base this upon. I believe Missouri is a serious, legitimate contender to win the Big 12 North...and even the Big 12 conference. Of course, we'll let that heated rivalry between MU and KU likely be the judge (of the North). I still can't believe that such a rivalry is based upon sentiments handed down from the Civil War...I always thought that Missouri hated NU much more. I see Missouri playing in a BCS game...this is their best chance and team in MANY years, obviously. Personally, I hope MU sweeps from here on out.
  18. It's one thing to say McKeon wears a pink polo shirt with his collar popped...it's an entirely different matter to pull what you just did.
  19. I seemed to have misplaced my torch.
  20. So, what EXACTLY is your position? It's okay to talk about Callahan, but not about grown men - players (simply because they are in college?) Here's your confirmable evidence regarding Callahan: http://media.www.dailynebraskan.com/media/....shtml?xmlsyn=1 Otherwise, I'll try and get on a police report and judge's statements immediately. McKeon's "alleged" comments don't surprise me in the least. Especially regarding what I have witnessed from him. Dude, I said I would have believed it about callahan before it was confirmed. I understand that it is confirmed about Callahan. Do you not see the difference between a 40-yeard old coach who is getting paid $1.2/mil a year, and a college kid? My position is this: a coach is much more fair-game than a student-athlete. Comparing this unconfirmed rumor, which is attacking the character of two of our student-athletes to a confirmed instance of what our head coach said is asinine. If you can't see the difference, then I have no idea what's wrong with you. I guess what is "wrong" with me is that you defend McKeon, without any contradictory evidence for yourself. Aren't you about the same age as these "kid" players? If you were playing for a prominent D-1A program (i.e., Nebraska) could you honestly not take the heat, pressure and expectations that come with that? I respect that you are defending our players...but at some point, no matter their age, they need to be held accountable for their performance and actions. You can go on believing that the McKeon "rumors" aren't true. That's fine. I'm guessing you haven't ever witnessed it. What exactly would you consider CONFIRMABLE evidence? Seriously? Other than a video...how do we satisfy your requirements? Do I need a notary with me? Please remember this: while our student-athletes may not be paid a salary, their school and other costs are paid for. They came here to play football for Nebraska...I wouldn't exactly call what they do Pro bono.

  22. Did you believe, before it was public knowledge, that Callahan would call Tom Osbonre a crusty, old Fu@k? Things aren't always what they seem. I wonder how the many folks before us ever CONFIRMED something without YOUTUBE?
