  1. Or, his commitment could be the result of--dare I say--hard work by the current coaching staff. Personally, I'm thinking that Callahan is staying. He has no intention of giving up.
  2. Give it a rest, already. That's just another brick in the wall.
  3. This crap needs to end, and soon. You are helping nobody.
  4. Thank you. It's good to hear some sanity from time to time. Do you know what I think? I think that the best thing that Osborne could do for this Husker team is announce that Callahan will remain as head coach. All of these rumors and threats need to disappear, and SOON. This team needs to be allowed to focus. Callahan is not an idiot, and he is learning gradually about Husker football. He will make the needed changes, if he has the chance to do so. Again, thanks.
  5. I think that it is becoming apparent to recruits that the Huskers have now lost stability, and that every coach henceforth will "be on a short leash." Come on, now, admit it. It has imploded . . . almost. We shall see.
  6. Hey, I'm with you. I've been carrying the banner all along, despite a barrage of disrespect and whiny-assed, one-dollar fans. It's not easy; I believe that I have been called about every name that is allowable on this board. Knowing that it comes from those with IQ's in the 90's doesn't make it easier, but that goes with the territory. Don't kill the program. Don't let it implode. Calm down, take a breath, and let the players and coaches get their stuff together. It can happen. There have only been 4 losses, and the future looks great with the youth coming on board--if we don't drive them away. Go Big Red!
  7. In my perfect world, this will happen: Nebraska will beat the crap out of Texas on Saturday. Nebraska will follow that up with convincing victories over Kansas, K-State, and Colorado. After upsetting Kansas, TO will announce that Callahan will not be fired. Callahan will announce after the bowl victory that there have been major shakeups in the coaching staff, including removal of Cosgrove. Callahan will install a new, simpler I-based offense in the spring. We will retain 80% of the recruiting class. Next year we will go undefeated and win the national championship. Lucky will win the Heismann. It could happen.
  8. At the risk of sounding silly, I have been saying all along you guys are going to beat Texas. My head says something different, however. But I have this "feeling". I am with your son on this. Well, you know how I am by now. I predict a Husker victory, and it will be glorious. It will be a coming-of-age for many young Huskers of the future. The four-game slide is done, over, finito. Now, don't bring this posting back to haunt me next week, please.
  9. You spelled tember wrong Yes, one classy guy that Callahan just ask them Oklahoma Hillbillies. Well, they ARE hillbillies . . . and only another hillbilly would think otherwise.
  10. I agree completely, 100%. Some of the stuff said on this board in the last few weeks is laughable. This is what I have been saying; however, since certain posters have become obsessed with silencing me, I do believe that I will remain more in the background. I can't do anything about this implosion, anyway.
  11. Yup. Just keep telling yourself that in the years to come.
  12. No Way he would come to NU..at least i dont think so but who am i to say Not only Meyer --- but no way any established coach at any school that has sniffed the top 25 the past few years would even remotely consider NU. NU is, I am afraid to say, not a major program anymore and is a fishbowl that most any coach would avoid. It is not a top 25 coaching job. So, do not expect a major coach to come here. the only hope to attract anyone that is proven is to have a disproportionate amount of $ thrown their way. Sort of like Alabama did. Yeah, Nebraska isn't a top 25 school anymore...kinda like Miami, Notre Dame and Florida State aren't top 25 programs anymore....Or back in the 90's when USC and Oklahoma (before Carroll and Stoops) weren't top 25 programs. Please, Nebraska is clearly a top 25 program and will be again assuming that TO brings in the right HC (and definitely not be Turner Gill). Why not Turner Gill? What has he done to be automatically disqualified by so many on these boards? The man should definitely be interviewed. Not because he happened to play here but for the reasons below. First, look at what he has done at Buffalo. He inherited facilities and talent on what has been argued by ,many to be the worst program in D1 and immediately had those guys overachieving. He has those guys believing in themselves, the program and definitely in the coaching staff. Compare that to Callahan who takes five star recruits and gets them to underachieve. So on this first test, Turner is much more like Osborne and Devaney than Callahan and I suspect better than what a lot of other coaches could do at Buffalo. As such he has more head coaching experience than Bo. And yes, I think Bo should be interviewed too. My point is that saying Gill doesn't have enough experience is not valid. If it is, then Bo should not be interviewed either. Next Gill does have a lot of years in coaching. The man is 45 years old. Some have said maybe in a few years after he has more years of experience. Well how much more does he need and if you wait too long he'll only have a few years before retirement to give. He was a good position coach while he was here and coaching Crouch, Frost, and Tommie too (I think) certainly can't damage his credibility can it? He has Texas connections for recruiting. That must count for something. He was given administrative duties while here as well I believe as assistant head coach with Frank. Or some title like that anyway. Finally, if he does pass the muster in all the other areas that Tom Osborne would require, then his experience as a former coach and player at one of college footballs most prestigious instituations SHOULD be considered. He is charismatic to his players and given his Nebraska player bloodlines, the state could rally around him like few others if he passes the interview requirements. It would be foolish to write this talent off just because he played at NU. Yes we don't want to pull another John Blake like Oklahoma did. But Turner Gill is 45 with a lot more experience and more of a track record than Blake had at age 34 when he was hired. All I am saying is give Gill a chance too. I have followed him closely since he started at Buffalo. Given what he has had to work with there, he has been very impressive in every aspect of the Head Coaching job. He has inspired the players, his coaching staff and the Buffalo community by demonstrating charisma and also character that reminds me of the man I bet he learned some of it from: Tom Osborne. Some of you are very adamant about not wanting Gill. If it is fear of commiting another Blake. That is valid but it doesn't automatically disqualify Gill from consideration. Further, just because Blake didn't work out at Oklahoma doesn't mean that a former coach/player here will never work. If that is the case Bob Devaney should have never hired Tom Osborne. And Tom should have been a complete failure as Blake was at Oklahoma. If Gill wants an interview, he definitely deserve a real and serious interview. And I would not be surprised that under a full and comprehensive review, Gill may be the best man for the job. In my opinion it is between Gill and Pelini. If it is a tie, Gill gets my tiebreaker vote (if I had one) due to character, experience and yes, a history and understanding of Nebraska football tradition. He'd probably come at a bargain rate, too.
  13. I agree these were all problem areas, but the fact remained that these problems didn't prevent our record from improving, so it was hard to see just how debilitating all these problems were until they came to a head this year. This entire year has been like an episode of the Twilight Zone.
  14. I agree. Bill Callahan micromanages, and in doing so he is effectively gumming up the works. In addition, he has responded to the mobs by working harder, and in doing so he has made matters worse. I don't think it matters at this point, though . . . no self-respecting head coach would ever try to coach NU with Osborne looking over his shoulder. Callahan is gone; it's only a question of money.
  15. Kansas is a very, very solid football team. Not much dazzle, but they are well-coached and they have tremendous fan support. Missouri's defense has surprised me, but I still say that they haven't really been tested by a cohesive football team. Besides, everyone knows that Missouri will collapse sooner or later. One loss, and the Tiger fans will look just like Husker fans. They will abandon that team and call for the Firing of the Coach. You might want to check your facts freemason, the Missouri defense has been tested and beat by a "cohesive" football team called Oklahoma, So therfore they allready have the one loss. Did you see the OU-Colorado game, by any chance?
  16. Do you think that Callahan was yelling? Well, just wait until Pellini gets here. You'll see some yelling like you've never seen before. LOL
  17. English...its a language not a side of beef so stop butchering it! Do you have problems understanding English? Perhaps you should insert some commas . . . that might help you read with some understanding. I understand that some folks depend upon punctuation rather heavily.
  18. He doesn't give a rat's ass, possibly because this is the worst dump in the world for a college coach to end up at . . . at least, in terms of surviving the mobs. Too many fans with no real lives outside of Husker football. Nothing short of a national championship will make these fans happy, and that will be practically impossible to come by, given the state of the program. NU fans won't wait 20+ years anymore for a coach to get around to it (as in Osborn's case). In other words, it's a coaching nightmare here now.

  20. Yeah, that's it. Yuck it up, but I've been a Husker fan for more that forty years, and I never dreamed that it would come to this. Sorry, that should have been "lynching," not "linching," but I typed it out rather quickly. It looks as though you all are finally having some excitement in your thin, crusty lives. Of course, this comes at the expense of coaches, their families, players, players-to-be, and the entire Husker football program. I know this season has been a disappointment, but I don't think that there is another program in the country that would be totally dismantled because of a 4-4 record. Husker fans are looking like complete idiots. IBR got his way . . . after creation of a website dedicated to the destruction of the coaching staff, he got to see Pederson get fired. That's fine, I know nothing about him . . . but a midseason firing was a bad decision, especially since it has only served to throw gas on the fire. Callahan and most of his staff are as anxious to get out of Lincoln as most of you seem to be to see him gone. Trust me. He is thoroughly sick of dealing with this crap. He will go on to have a good career elsewhere. i wish him well. In the meantime . . . The program has self-destructed, and you are all gleefully passing rumors, coaching from your couches, and defaming everyone associated with the current Huskers. Losers. The Huskers will not win one more game this season. They may not even bother to show up for the games; there is no reason to, really. Next season's coaching staff will at least have some good recruits, care of Callahan--the ones, that is, that chose to remain. Will the new staff do anything with them? Not enough. They will be fired, too, because whenever next year's team loses, you "fans" will turn into a mob once again. Now I understand now why head coaches are paid so much. Remember, I told you what would happen. Now have fun, kiddies.
  21. . . . the complete implosion of the Nebraska Cornhusker program. The fans have become a linching mob, looking for someone to blame. AD has been fired and replaced by a 70-year old former glory guy. Coaches have been threatened, and they no longer have any hope. Most likely, they don't even care. Nearly every player has been called everything from dirt to scum. I wonder why they don't seem to have any life on the field? Recruits are jumping ship, because this ship is sinking fast. My Huskers are dead. Long live the Internet Message Boards! No coach will survive in Nebraska for more that five years, from herein out. Stick a fork in it, it's done. Turn it over. Say, I Bleed Red, good job. Your wish has come true. --A former Husker fan
  22. Good Lord, give it a rest. Bill Callahan is the Husker coach, and we will see what happens for the rest of the year. The last few weeks had to be sheer hell on BC, the coaching staff, and the players. Don't add to it. Let the program work. Get a life, and don't add to the problems. I guess you enjoy the embarrassment this HC has brought to the program and also enjoyed the records fall under his tenure. Most of which had stood for over thirty years, mmmm, I wonder what makes someone believe this guy deserves the rest of the season to prove further that he is not the right man for this particular program. It matters naught though, he will be gone, at years end. I suppose that I am far more embarassed by "fans" such as yourself. Good lord, the team lost some games. There is more to life than tearing your hair out over such things. Believe it or not, there are people at NU that are far more intelligent than you insofar as coaching is concerned. Let them coach, and you can go back to your video games.
