  1. I tend to believe that there was one second left on the clock, but where I think you guys got robbed is apparently that should not be a reviewable play. Although, I'm not sure anyone knows what the real call on the field was. Seems like the officials really mismanaged that at the end, I you can sure bet that the BCS and money involved at some influence on their actions. Welcome to getting f__cked by the Big 12. We are used to, i.e. bowl selection process. All of that aside, I do admire the Pelini's passion, and I think Bo wanting to talk to Beebe is fine. Beebe is an idiot that needs to go. However, I think the screaming at Texas fans and screaming cheaters during the trophy presentation is unacceptable by a coach. Pelini's passion is great, he just needs to learn to channel it better and follow Osborne's lead on keeping your cool at times. Too many more incidents like that will damage the Husker's reputation as a classy team.
  2. The horsecollar was a boneheaded play, but not nearly as ugly as his hit on Reesing. As a Mizzou fan, I enjoyed seeing that little troll get hit, but in reality, I think he should have possibly been ejected for that.
  3. I'm sorry but that is classless. /shakes head. I love this staff and the direction they are taking the program in, but that is classless right there and a poor example to set for the players. If we should win, let it be by the code... If we should lose...let our coaches not yell out the other team. Poor decision by the officials or not, that was extremely poor showing by the coaches, if these accounts are true. Bear in mind that this is in the heat of the moment. Tomorrow they may wake up and think differently. Afterall, Bo did admit fault for ripping into Snyder back in '03. It's a Pelini thing. Sometimes they let their emotions get the best of them and that's how they deal with it. Bo letting his emotions get the better of him shouldn't surprise anybody. He does need to learn that he's not an assistant anymore. Like it or not head coaches do need to be a little more level headed than his assistants. Speaking as an opposing fan, I think the passion and fire is great, but I do agree that yelling cheaters at the opposing team is crossing the line for a head coach. Pelini can obviously coach, now he just needs to mature a bit to become a great head coach. Too many incidents like this will damage the Husker reputation as a classy team.
  4. I don't necessarily doubt that. Suh is a big loss, but one of the things that may have been lost in this season, is that in year 2, Pelini is still working with a lot of kids that weren't his recruits. I don't know that I have ever seen a team do such an abrupt 180. A terrible D with a decent O to an awesome D with a paltry O in two years. I think that proves Bo is a great D coach. Now somethings got to give to get some life into your O. I always wonder if part of the issue is a focus on recruiting D players rather than O players. I think my Tigers have the opposite problem, we recruit a lot of great O players, but not D players.
  5. I still haven't made up my mind whether there was really 1 second left on the clock, but in any event, I think a lot of things in this conference favor the south, and that pisses me off. It would have been nice to see a north team win last night. Beyond actual outcome of the game, you guys earned a lot of respect last night and certainly set a tone that will have you favored to win the north again next year. If your defense stays that tough and you find some offense, you guys will be a very tough team next year. Its obvious Bo can coach the D. Looking forward to our matchup in Lincoln next year!
  6. Henery definatley deserved it. Harry wasn't first or second team either. Both of these guys not only had the status, but also the impact on games to warrant a 1st or 2nd team selection. Also, I would guess that the only reason Ressel beat out Henery for 1st team PK, is because of the game winning kick against KU. That really elevated his status at the end of the season. Both had amazing seasons, but as someone else mentioned, Henery is more likely to make it at the next level because he can do both tasks.
  7. No problem. It seems like this time of year everybody and their dog comes out with their own list.

  9. I don't think it was intentional. He was swinging at the goal out of frustration and didn't realize he had clipped his goalie.
  10. knapplc, I think you are confused. The KC Star has their own All-big 12 team different than the one put out by the conference. This will also help explain your confusion about whether Crick is 1st or 2nd team in the other thread. He is first team in the official list from the conference, but 2nd in the KC star's team
  11. So I should start a new thread when this gets posted in the JournalStar, and another for the World Herald, and another for the Norman Transcript, and another for the Austin Statesman, and another for when CNN/SI picks this up, and the AP, and USAToday, and.... ? Come now. Well, no, but since the KC Star All-Big 12 team is different than this one, I figured this might be nice to post. But, I suppose if this is deemed a duplicate, it will either get deleted or merged eventually. Meh. No big deal. I'm just joshing ya. knapplc, I think you are confused. Not a bad place to start when handing out honors. The Kansas City Star selected Texas quarterback Colt McCoy and Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh as its top offensive and defensive players, and picked Kansas State running back Daniel Thomas and Missouri defensive end Aldon Smith as the top newcomers. The top coach? The man with the perfect record, Texas’ Mack Brown. Defensive newcomer Aldon Smith, Missouri, Fr. He became a sack machine in his redshirt freshman season. Smith, from Raytown, has matched Justin Smith’s school record with 11 sacks. He ranks 10th nationally in that department and is 11th in tackles for loss, and no other freshman is close. Defensive player Ndamukong Suh, Nebraska, Sr. He’s a defensive tackle with outside linebacker quickness. Offenses game plan around Suh, who ranks among the league’s top 10 in sacks and passes defended. He could be the overall No. 1 selection in April’s NFL draft, and he’ll become Nebraska’s first consensus All-American in nearly a decade. Coach Mack Brown, Texas Sure, the Longhorns were the favorites entering this season. But Brown has put together the most successful regular season of his career and stands one victory away from playing for the national championship for the second time in five years. Offensive player Colt McCoy, Texas, Sr. Early on he scuffled, at least by his lofty standards. But over the season’s second half, McCoy returned to the top of his game and may now be the Heisman Trophy favorite. Along the way, he set the NCAA record for most career victories by a starting quarterback (44 and counting), and he now chases a national championship. Offensive newcomer Daniel Thomas, Kansas State, Jr. He played quarterback at Northwest Mississippi Community College, became a running back for the Wildcats and had an impact at both positions. Thomas leads the Big 12 in rushing at 105.4 yards per game, with some of that coming from the wildcat formation. He also tossed a touchdown pass.
  13. I think we will know a lot after the first few possessions of this game. I can see the game going one of two ways. If Texas comes out and looks dominant, I think they win easily. If the huskers are able to come out and battle on defense and show the ability to move the ball on offense, I think the game will be kept close and Nebraska will come out on top. I am hoping for the later. In any event, hopefully you guys will give them a better game than we gave OU the last two years.
  14. Just wanted to wish you guys good luck this weekend. It would be nice to see the north win one. For anyone headed to Dallas, enjoy the game, the new stadium is pretty kick a$$!
  15. No, I believe it is .08. Maybe he doesn't own the car? So wait, anybody who is familiar with drinking laws, is he ok as far as the drinking aspect is concerned? .035 is below .08. He's gotta be good in that aspect. He will not receive a dui.. however still a possibility of a reckless driving citation. As far as suspensions go I would presume that this will fall to the unity council for violation of team rules.. the one I have heard is that they were not going to drink during the season.. (don't know if its true thats just a rule I have heard) however, it is loosely enforced unless someone ends up in trouble... An important distinction here is the difference between DUI and DWI . I believe you can get charged with Driving Under the Influence, even if you are under the legal limit. Driving While Intoxicated requires you to be over the legal limit.
  16. Would this still be considered a violation of team rules, even if from a legal standpoint he is okay? What is Pelini's policy on drinking? Technically speaking he did drink and drive.
  17. Edit: Double post, please delet.
  18. A couple of months ago, my neigbhor got drunk and decided to go see his girlfriend. He drove past two houses and then slammed into my neighbors house. My elderly neighbors slept through it all. He backed his truck up and went back to his house and shut his garage door. The next day the cops followed the anti freeze trail back to his garage and arrested him. As a rival fan, you hate to see this kind of thing happen to anyone, let along one of the best players on a team. We kicked off our #2 quarterback for a dui after several other earlier disciplinary issues. Its made us thin at quarterback, and with Gabbert's ankle, it would potentially have been nice to have him around. Hopefully this all turns out to be a rumor, but if not, why couldn't this have happened befor you guys played us?!?! ;)
  19. I cannot believe all of the people who don't get the joke about the Chiefs and Rams!
  20. It was the same in the late 80s. If you have Nebraska license plates, consider yourself lucky to get out of town with all of your tires...and yes, I know people who have had their tires slashed down there. They have some decent fans, but also a rather large contingent that deserves to be shot in the back of the head. I think I can offer a unique perspective to this discussion. I was born and rasied in Nebraska, but went to MU and currently live in Columbia. I have seen Columbia through the eyes of a Nebraska fan, and I have seen Lincoln through the eyes of a Mizzou fan. I cheer for both teams, but will be cheering for Mizzou tomorrow. I went to the game in Lincoln last year wearing Mizzou gear and was heckled and even had one drunk guy throw some beer on me. I had similar things happen in Columbia year ago when I was still more of a husker fan. Both fan bases have people who will do stupid things, especially when drunk, but the majority of both fan bases are good people. As for bars in Columbia, I think most of the suggestsions here have been good. I plan to be out in some of those locations with some of my family who are husker fans. If you want to really avoid Tiger fans, you probably need to leave downtown and hit a strip mall type bar somewhere else in town. If you want to stay downtown, the Heidelberg, Boone Tavern and Shiloh are probably all safe bets that will have a slightly older more mellow crowd. I would probably avoid Harpos and The Field House, as it would tend to be where younger drunker MU fans would be. Tin Can is good, I would also recommend Flat Branch, which is our local micro brewery. It will be packed, but I've never seen things get out of control there. Try the Green Chile Beer, it is my favorite. Columbia is a great town, don't let a few drunk idiots ruin your fun. I've been to many away stadiums both in the Big 12 and out. I've been heckled a few places and had a few less than desirable experiences, but nothing any place that would make me not go back. Generally if you mind your own business, trouble won't find you. That's my opinion anyway.
  21. Looks like this has been swept under the rug: (That rug at KU has to be getting pretty bumpy.) Kansas Athletics Media Relations September 23, 2009 Contact: Jim Marchiony (785) 864-3359 Statement from Representatives of the KU Football and Men’s Basketball Teams LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Athletics Director Lew Perkins met with the football and men’s basketball teams Wednesday afternoon in the Anderson Family Football Complex. Following the meeting, selected representatives from both teams (listed below) collectively released the following statement: “We realize that over the past couple of days we’ve let a disagreement between a few guys grow bigger than it ever should have. We’re embarrassed about that. “Now we want everyone know that we have met and talked it out. We realize we’re all Jayhawks. We’re proud of what both teams have accomplished. “We appreciate the support these teams give each other. We’ll be in the stands rooting for each other like we always have. “We all wear KANSAS on our uniforms, and we’re proud of that. We need to act like it. We’ve met; we’re all on the same page, and we will move forward together. The football team is ready to get back to work, focused on Saturday’s game against Southern Mississippi, and the basketball team will continue to prepare for another great season.” Basketball – Cole Aldrich, Sherron Collins Football – Kerry Meier, Todd Reesing, Jake Sharp, Darrell Stuckey Chris Theisen, Assistant AD/Media Relations University of Kansas 1651 Naismith Drive; Lawrence, KS; 66045 direct-785.864.3474; cell-785.331.9356; fax-785.864.7944 www.kuathletics.com

  25. Yes, apparently over a girl that used to date a player on one team and is now dating a player on the other team. It is in the KC star if you can pull that up. I am sure it is in the Lawrence paper as well.
