  1. Now that they're voting for this years Heisman Trophy, you should vist this site: www.ChaseTheHeisman.com. Oh wait...they don't really say anything about him in the running for the heisman any more, but you sure can vote for him for the O'brien award!! HaHa you booger eating McCoy ear licking Indoor Football League wanna be!! This is such a joke...would you ever see UNL do something so "Me, Myself and I"?. Where was Missouri's website to help promote winning the "team" national title?
  2. As a head coach he is completely invested emotionally in that team. Having coached myself, I know that you start to look at these kids much like you look at your own kids. When you teach kids and coach them and guide them into success there is no greater feeling. That's why it's better for him. My favorite moment in sports too didn't involve my playing days but my coaching days. There's no better feeling than leading kids (of any age) to success. I hope someday you come to feel the same way. It's tremendously rewarding. Plus, it's a tremendous achievement... like he said, considering where the program was when he took over. It's right on par with Bill Snyder's turn around at K-State. At least K-State was in a major conference. When Turner was here, the results he experienced were expected. The teams he played for and coached for were great and high expectations, for the most part, were met. At Buffalo, he started coaching a team that was made from scrap meat in the dumpster. What he has done in the past 3 years is HUGE!!!! It is Buffalo coming from crap to winning their conference championship in three years. This is comparable to Bill Snyder and K State and maybe more of an accomplishment. SO OF COURSE he's going to be emotional. He isn't a me, myself and I person. As he said in the interview, he is so proud for the team, for what they accomplished and for the team to have come so far from nothing. Nebraska was always good and was expected to win with the talent they had, Buffalo was not and Turner is rightfully proud and emotional in the teams' victory.
  3. What an emotional interview Turner had after the game...he couldn't hardly say anything he was about to burst into tears. After the interview the Buffalo AD came to him and gave him a hug and they both lost it...crying in each others arms. What a huge win for that program.

  5. This doesn't make any sense...if he kicks it out of the endzone everytime it's a touch back and who cares who's (not) returning it....?
  6. Whatever is noted on the pic should be kept out of the space between the players and the endzone. Text in that area is a distraction to the magnatude of the kick...that green space is part of the drama and should remain empty.
  7. I didn't play football against any huskers but I did play some pick-up hockey with a couple. In the winter of 93-94 ish, Joel Gesky and Bryan Pruitt would play with us out at oak lake. They were offensive linemen. They were good skaters and wouldn't get too roudy with us. It was different seeing a 300 lb dude skate by and all of the ice chips flying around as they gouged the ice.
  8. That was the one Brook Berringer QB'd right? Yes
  9. My fav of all time is '94 with '08 a close second. 2008 was a good game and is the best of the last ten years. 1994 had more of an impact and it was between two top three teams. The 1994 win put us in the driver's seat for the national title. CU was ranked ahead of us and the win put us in 1st place and we never looked back. You could argue that that was CU's best team of the 90's (including 1990) and it was their only loss of the year.
  10. I don't recall every player that was named, but I don't remember seeing a player without his gear on while they were being introduced...so I'm thinking no.
  11. He's growing up in North Daktoa, he knew all the rules to hockey when he was 4.
  12. I consider myself a lucky person after this past weekend and feel the need to tell my story. I am a 33 year old male living in Jamestown, ND and was born and raised in Lincoln. I moved from Lincoln to Jamestown with my wife and son in '04. When I grew up I went to several games, the first vs Wyoming in '83. My dad would get me in the games while he worked with the Maintenance Department for the University as he did various duties before, during and after the games. My wife, son and I go home to Lincoln every Thanksgiving and this year I decided my son was old enough (seven) to go to a game and turn his blood to Scarlet Red instead of blood red. We went to Husker Nation before the game and waited in line to get in the stadium to give plenty of time, once inside, for his new experience. Here is the first of many memorable quotes and conversations: We were on the fence watching them practice and kid says: "Hey dad, do they play in the rain?" Dad replies, "Yes, they play in any weather: rain, cold, snow and in rainy cold windy snowy storms. Kid asks, "How the heck to they play in snow boots?" Later we find our seats in the 55th row of the north east stadium. The band starts playing its pregame music. The crowd is clapping in unison to Hail Varsity...he's got this down pat without any direction from me...clap clap clap. Go Big Red comes next. "What are they saying?", kid asks. "GO BIG RED", dad yells. Good to go. During the course of the game it was Football 101. He has played one season of flag football this past fall, but he's still learning most of the game. I showed him the scoreboard and what the numbers mean....he was able to pick out the score at any time and could tell who was leading, which in this game he was able to see either team take and give the lead away quite often. Another quote: "So they have one more period than hockey" "Yes, well, kind of". In the first 4 minutes kid asks "Why is it so quiet, aren't we supposed to be cheering". Dad says, "Yes, but see the scoreboard?" Kid says, "Opps". During the game Helu would break one for 25 yards or Ganz would hook up with Swift and the crowd would roar and cheer...Kid would ask "Did we get a point?!". "No....we need to get it to the end zone or kick a field goal." "What's a field goal?" "It is, well...I'll show you one when it happens". One fun thing that a seven year old does during TV timeouts is to watch the big screen and find Lil' Red in the stadium when he's shown on the big screen. We have some popcorn and a pop at half time and its back to Football 101. The game goes back and forth and we're driving with less than 4 minutes left. Helu busts up the middle and gets in field goal range and we're safe. Ganz gets sacked, uh oh. Next play, pass up the middle to get back in range and the pass is dropped, double uh oh. Kid can see the pukey look on dads face. "What's wrong dad?" "We're screwed". Now it comes down to this and more football 101. "Here comes a field goal. The kicker needs to kick it from the red "N" on the field, over here to the white goal, over the crossbar and in between the two vertical pipes". Kid says, "Yeah right". "Like I said....we're screwed". I figured I better fire up the digital camera and vid capture this just in case he makes it. I turn it on, hold it up and look to center it on the play and the low battery light is blinking, O'well, the ball is just going to donk off the red letters in the endzone anyway. Then the kick, then the earthquake. Kid notices that we now have more points and the scoreboard has 1 minute left...he gets it now. All of you have one more to add to the Husker Nation population. We're walking down Vine Street to the car and the cold is finally settling in now that the in the stadium game buzz isn't keeping us warm. Kid tells me (ok Husker dads, here comes the sappy moment that makes me feel more lucky than actually being at the game) "Dad, when school started this year, I told Mrs. Barns that when Nana and Papa took me to Disney world this summer, that was the most fun I ever had in my entire life. When we go home, I'm going to talk to her and tell her that was the most fun I've ever had in my entire life!" BAM!!! A week at Disney world got trumped by a Husker game. Can Husker life get any better than that? The more and more I think about it, I feel more lucky than anything; to take my son to his first game and for it to be this one...NU-CU...back and forth, 57 yard miracle field goal, Suh running back the INT moments later, all with my boy. Lucky. See the earthquake .

    Spit

It seems so long ago, but, the last time Missouri won...Chase got spit on. HA! When will he get spit on again?
  14. Cosgrove was sitting next to him during the conference and Callahan was wearing one of those "I'm with Stupid ----->" shirts.
  15. I'll never forget doing that when I was a kid...getting Neil Smith's autograph. It was like I was asking the state capitol for an autograph he was so huge.
  16. Aaagh yeah sure that make sense. Is this the case just for Callahan? How do you grade Frank Solich then? He must have been a total failure since he didn't win three national championships like the previous coach to him.
  17. I guess you didn't read my whole post. It states that you can't compare the situations. The point is up until this year, the team has progressively gotten better and giving BC a chance to change and fix, something of which he really hasn't had the chance to do, may be an option for TO. You couldn't be more wrong about that. We were 10-3 the season before Callahan was hired, and he failed to ever match that record. We've been going backwards since he arrived. Actually I can't be wrong about the point because it's a fact. Callahan wasn't here for the 10-3 season. You can't grade him for or agaisnt a season he had no control over. Just because the team before him had a 10-3 record doesn't make him a failure if he doesn't match or exceed that team instantly the next season. He started the WCO with option offense players and from that point up until this year, Callahan's team did get better year by year. The defense sucked it this year and their problems ooozed onto the offense. When the defense was constantly giving up TD's the offense was always playing catchup and under pressure picking up the slack which lead to where we are now with a total team problem. There's a logical scenario where TO may give a BC a chance to fix the problem (defense), continue the sucsess of the offense, and get the team as a whole back on track.

  19. Back when TO followed the Chritian faith by forgiving Lawrence Phillips and gave him a second chance at redeeming himself, he was heavily critizied by the national media for his actions. Do any of you think he will go down the same path? Be it you cannot compare the LP situation the the current coaching staff fallout, the situation does have a side to it where BC could be given a second chance to fix the problems. Solich was presured (by the media at least) into revamping his coaching line up and he did so. I have begun to think TO may do the same in this situation, but, I wouldn't bet on it.
  20. Not so fast my friend! And no I do not consider Travis Justice a friend. http://www.journalstar.com/articles/2007/1...8b646498797.txt
