I think it's just a poorly written article. The writer is kind of going against himself when he is demanding a "Rooney Rule" and then using Nebraska as a negative example when they were meeting the standards of the "Rooney Rule." He is mistakenly painting a picture that the OSU and NU hiring situations were identical and the only difference was black and white. Without any back story behind either job opening, it leaves the reader to assume Gill had no chance because of his color. I personally had Gill as my first choice and Pelini as a close second. I felt Gill had the calm temperament that reminds me of TO and when I thought of Pelini, I couldn't get the Snyder incident out of my head. But the pressure of the worst defensive year in the team's history made passing on the defensive specialist Pelini, almost impossible.

The media has more to do with the state of our nation than people think. The hollywood and democrat social elite sit up on their thrones looking down on the rest of us. They treat us like their little children wanting to take care of us. They view illegal immigrants the same way. Let them all in, they need a place to live, we'll give them free schooling,FREE health care and even help them buy homes illegally. Wow, ok ok! Settle down girls! We are all fans here, no reason to gripe over something so insignificant. The article wasn't about the issues between the fans, it was about OUR Huskers and OUR defense putting up a great performance. So lets stay on that topic!

At this point I'm still shooting for 7 wins and I'll be extremely pleased with 8 wins. I think setting your expecations at 9 wins is pushing it... I would love to be proved wrong though!

Don't kid yourself. KU is going to be a very tough game to win. They just got beat by a mediocre South Florida team. I don't really agree, I think South Florida is pretty solid. And like Elby said, both teams are still better than us at this point.

Meh, could care less whether he's drafted. In my one experience with him he seemed like a d-bag, so I really have no special hope he makes it or anything. If a team needs him and takes him, then congrats to him.

Look at the list, I don't even know the names of half of these people and a lot of them have been large dissapointments. A lot of these guys were juco's and are already graduated or left the program. Zach Potter is one that really sticks out for me as a big dissapointment, I really thought he should have better prepared himself for last year, when I thought he should have already been dominant. IMO he is mediocre at best, but my judgement will always be harsh on Potter, ever since hearing his choice quote saying he didn't really train very hard until Carriker left . Broadcaster's base the majority of their opinions on on the field play. Thus far our "talent" hasn't proven anything to them other than being the worst defense in school history. I don't understand why everyone is so surprised people think we don't have any talent....

I see what you're saying, but to me it seems the process should be a bit more private. Especially since they are publishing coach's phone numbers. I guess I don't see a parent sitting down and saying well gee lets put these letters online to help other recruits out...To me it seems more likely they are just showing off.

Whew, glad someone finally posted a voice of reason. Seems too many people are wearing rose colored glasses. This has me really concerned for next year, I really hope fans keep their expectations realistic. Yes, I can see us doing much better than 6-6, but my god look at the facts people. There are far to many question marks surrounding a lot of positions. It seems like everyone has this expectation that we are going to go from an almost dead last defenese to the top 5 in one year. Sorry it's just not going to happen. I know Cosgrove was an idiot, there's no denying it, but his influence alone did not cause us to have the worst defense in school history. When you have a d-line that can barely create 10 sacks as a unit(a number an all american often gets all by himself) in one season, you have a big big problem. It doesn't matter how good your secondary is when the quarterback is sitting back with all day to throw. I truly believe the defensive unit will be improved, but we have to keep our expectations in check. I'm sure Pelini himself would be happy with a top 50 defense next year. Of course his goal is to make them the best D in the country next year, but he knows it doesn't happen over night.

Being honest, I would be surprised to get more than 2-3 in-state kids on scholly this year. Heck, I would not even be surprised if Pensick was it from this class. Talent level just isn't that high this year, especially compared to past years. And before someone goes off saying Lechner and Sellers have offers from other schools, remember that to get on a different level, we need to recruit a different type of athlete. Being from Nebraska and being a D1 talent should not entitle you to an offer. If the coaches have a kid rated ahead of a Nebraska kid, go ahead and get the higher rated player regardless of what anyone else thinks of some of the kids within our borders. Yes, rather than offer scholly's, convince them to walk on! That was common place during TO's regime...

I don't really understand the point of posting up these letters other than to showboat. Just seems like the family is stroking their ego, like hey look how many schools our son can go to for free...

I really have to disagree with you. MU dominated KU. Yes, ku came back late in the game, but, you can not say KU was one half away. That is uncredible statement. That said, Mangino is one hell of a coach. I really disagree that MU dominated KU... You have to be kidding. How on earth can you consider an 8 point win domination? I don't care whether they came back or not, the fact is over 4 quarters Kansas was within one possession of tying you. That'd be like Nebraska fans saying we dominated every team in 95, but only winning every game by a possession. I'm sorry that's just ridiculous...

Mac Brown needs to be moved way down. He gets out coached all the time. With the surplus of extremely talented kids who grow up fans of UT he could sleep through recruiting and still have top 25 caliber talent fall right in his lap. IMO there is no reason why he can't consistently compete for the NC, but he just sucks.

I'm betting they normally wouldn't, but with a sell out I would think they will have it. Parking will be crazy if they don't.
