  1. I think they lose to Kansas, beat K-State (barely) and then get slaughtered in Boulder. At least they'll be bowl eligible.
  2. NU 27 Mizz who? 19 NU Rushing 124 NU Passing 246 Inspired by the "black out" in the stands, look for the blackshirts to score! GO BIG RED
  3. Before everyone starts getting their panties in a bunch over which bowl we'll go to, why don't we just concentrate on becoming bowl eligible first. The bowl games will take care of themselves. They always do. BTW, I noticed in that group of projections that there are a total of six bowl games Nebraska could end up playing in. Let's all just sit back and watch things play themselves out. I, for one, am just thrilled to see the Huskers doing so well again. I mean, they're one fumble away from being 6-0! Look out Missouri, here we come!
  4. @ Baylor - Win @ Missouri- Win Chokelahoma - Loss @ Kansas - Win Kansas State - Win @ Colorado - Loss Final record 8-3 (possible loss to the Tiggers leaving Huskers 7-4) It'll be nice to see the Big Red back in a bowl game this year.
  5. The Extreme Sports and Poker Network also claim to be a real sports network, too. When I see Chris Moneymaker suiting up at TE for the Pats, the Michigan St. football team throwing logs, and Peter Forsberg and Jarome Iginla doing the hockey thing on ESPN and not OLN, THEN I'll believe it. Otherwise, ESPN is the MTV of sports. THIS IS GENIUS. EXTREME SPORTS AND POKER NETWORK! FREAKIN' AWESOME!!

  8. When you said we were going to be in the sea of red, I thought we were going to a football game!
  9. I love the Huskers and would like nothing more than to see them take down Texas Tech, but don't forget; Nebraska STILL hasn't scored more than one touchdown during regulation of their first four games. That's not going to cut it against the nation's #1 offense. If Hardy doesn't stop dropping balls and missing his blocks, BC has got to bench him. I was encouraged last week's by Swift's outstanding performance in his first game. I hope Callahan lets more newbies play this Saturday. By the way, did you hear that they're pulling up the new turf in Memorial Stadium? Apparently the West Coast Offense only works on paper.
  10. Oh so close. #26 in the AP, #27 in Coach's poll. But at least we're getting more votes than anyone else in the Big 12 North, and I can think of no other team that I'd rather see go down to launch the Huskers' return to the top 25 than Texy Tech.
  11. Like every other broadcaster, Rome is all about the ratings and he'll get them however he can (see Howard Stern). If Callahan would field a decent offense and stop his self-denial by saying things like, "we'll take what we want; not what the defense gives us" and admit that our offense looks like a jailbreak gone horribly wrong, maybe he'd get a little respect from Rome and those like him. Unfortunately, sometimes those that speak the truth are attacked for doing so, especially in this state. Rome has never put down Husker fans. He always backs them as some of the classiest fans in the nation. He's bashing Callahan -and deservedly so.
  12. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? Since my dad turned me on to football when I was 5 (1959) 2) What/who led you to The Nation? My dad took me to a home game. I don't remember who the Huskers were playing. 3) Where are you from originally? Born in Omaha. Raised in Lincoln. 4) Where do you live now? Lincoln 5) Favorite Husker memory? So many to choose from. Rogers' punt return vs. Oklahoma probably. 6) Worst Husker memory? Last year's (2004) "game" at Texas Tech. I'm very worried about the 2005 game. 7) Number of home games attended? No idea. I've never had season tickets so maybe 100 or so. 8) Number of away games attended? 2, one in Hawaii and one at Minnesota 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? I used to have a football signed by the coaches and players of the 1971 National Championship team, but I sold it so I could attend my daughter's wedding in Minnesota. 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) Hmm, probably Memorial Stadium, but an intimate bar setting or a friend's house would be a close second. 11) Favorite all time player? So many to choose from. I'd have to go with Johnny "The Jet" Rogers though. I can't remember a player that so brought everyone's attention to the game whenever they touched the ball. 12) WCO or Option? So far, the option, but we can dream. 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? That's like asking which I like better, getting kicked or beaten. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? No brainer. Herbie Husker. I can't stand that stupid balloon. I mean come on; he can't even clap! 15) Favorite Husker play? A perfectly executed option, although I haven't seen one of those in years. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? Miller Lite - take a drink every time they show Callahan. 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) I think I Googled "Huskers" but I honestly don't remember. GBR BABY!!!

  14. Yes, USC won the nat'l championship the last two years. If they do it this year, they'll be the first team to ever win it three times in a row. This match should have taken place in the final four; not a Kentucky regional. Still, I don't think that NU, who had only one senior on the team and whose best player is still a freshman should have been seeded #1 in the tournament. Not saying they weren't an excellent team. They just weren't the best one. SC played some amazing defense that the Huskers weren't expecting based on the Trojans' regular season play. Seriously, wait 'til next year.
  15. IMO the Huskers were somewhat overrated, but they're young. There's only one senior on the team. They may have underestimated USC based on their record. I also don't think the Big 12 is as good as the Pac 10. Just give these women a year or two and then watch out.
  16. http://www.gatorsports.com/apps/pbcs.dll/frontpage Notre Dame did indeed screw themselves, but it's still one of the more prestigious programs in the nation (although so is Nebraska and look where WE'RE at!) I think they'll get a quality coach. Maybe Zook? Turner Gill's available now!
  17. I never figured out why he was the receivers' coach anyway. Now if we can just get rid of Cosgrove!!
  18. FYI- I am placing a football on eBay that has been autographed by the 1971 Nebraska Cornhuskers (players and coaches) beginning on Sunday, August 1st and ending August 11th. Signatures include Bob Devaney, Tom Osborne, Johnny Rogers, Rich Glover, Jerry Tagge, Jeff Kinney, etc. Quite the collector's item. I'm hoping it goes for a lot as I am going to be using the money to send my daughter on her honeymoon. Just thought you'd like to know. Thanks. PS. Please don't tell me not to sell it. It's an amazing possession, but I need the money more than I do the ball.
