  1. These coaches jobs are on the line. Does anyone really think they would "screw" Zac Lee if he was actually the best. It speaks volumes that he wasn't even #2 off the bench. He lost his starting job, it's as simple as that. If he begins to prove in practice that he can help us win and T-Mart can't, then you can bet Lee will be back starting.
  2. That's all I'm saying. I think alot of people got defensive for no reason in this thread. I have all the confidence in the world in the Brothers Pelini. Maybe its actually a good thing they lacked intensity in this game, as it will get fixed real quick before we start conference play.
  3. Back to the original point of my thread, I don't care if we had 700 fumbles. This isn't an argument about the score or X's and O's or mis-plays. I just hope the defensive attitude changes next week, because one quarter of greatness doesn't make up for 3 quarters of running around with a bag over your head.
  4. Yep, typical first game for teams who want to go 9-3, and really fight hard but lose in the conference title game. Next.
  5. I'll say exactly what Pelini would say: "I don't care about what other teams did out there. What did we do?" 49-10 is a good score from the outside, and we may even jump Oklahoma in the AP, but if anyone here is feeling good about how the team played from moment to moment, take a step back and see what it could have been, without a few lucky breaks. It's 42-17 if the refs don't call that 46 yard run through a gaping hole a fumble, which, after watching replays it could have just as easily been called a TD and stood up. The first quarter was a great display of how good we can be. But i didn't like some stuff in the final 3 quarters, and I'm not alone. I dont give a crap what Pelini said.... Im just saying everybody is freakin out about the first game of the year and all the mistakes that were made. Their was probably more than the average fan realizes. I dont care whether it was 49-10, 49-17, 56-3, we all know theirs plenty of things to work on. As a team we are not their yet. Those who think we are..... FYI that was clearing a fumble it came out at the one yard line. Uh, ok. So just as easily as you say "well whatever, it was the first game", I can say I expect more. Just depends on how you want to view it I guess. I have no problems with the typical opening day problems (LBers out of positions, WR dropping balls etc.). My problem is with the intensity level, and letting up way too early, and just plain acting like the game didn't matter. Do people not know how to separate the two?

  7. Yeah my bad. At any rate, maybe I'm being too hard. I've viewed 2010 as our "national title run year" since Pelini got here. I think the argument that "it's easy to lose intensity or focus when the opponent is bad and your up big" is ridiculous though. A well coached team should play with fire like every opponent is the #1 team in the country. Then the backups and 3rd stringers come in and run the offense, but no one sloughs off on the field. If you continue to score running your basic offense with backups, then you continue to score. But its not a good precedent to set to say "oh, go out there and take it easy, we're winning big". Every second you are in between those lines, you better be a shark.
  8. I would like to believe that, but you don't see national title teams like 'Bama last year and USC in the mid-00's lack intensity, even in the games that aren't considered a "serious game". How can a team that plays under Pelini lose intensity? This is a guy who called a 49-10 beat down an "absolute embarrassment" from a defensive standpoint. I'm just taking my queue from him on intensity expectations. I would expect mistakes to be from penalties from being too intense and undisciplined , not the opposite.
  9. They almost scored a TD (thanks to Gomes they didn't) that would have made it 28-17 in the 2nd quarter against the worst FBS team in the country for 2 years running. The problems were in the first half as well, not just the 2nd half. The two minute offense at the end of the 1st half was pathetic too. At least they were trying to go for the throat a little bit, with 3 passes (albeit incomplete) in a row.
  10. I think we have a good (and could be great) team this season, with tons of talent at every position. What I didn't like was what I felt was a lack of intensity. I don't care if its Western Kentucky in the first game of the year. Go for the jugular. It just felt like players were lackadaisical out there much of the time. Mostly on defense, but also on offense at times too. Especially in the 2nd quarter. I mean you talk about a letdown following an electric 1st quarter. They let off the gas pedal way too early. I don't know if its the players, or the coaches. And don't tell me it was because they "didn't want to break it all out against Western Kentucky". You don't have to be doing flea flickers and Wildcat to show me intensity. If we play like that against Idaho, it will be a game heading into the 4th, and Washington will beat us. I don't think for one minute they will play like that again, Bo will get them in line, but the entire balance of coaches is likely to blame for the way this team let up after a tremendous 1st quarter. That said: Nebraska 41 Idaho 13
  11. Tickets in my section are going for $1100 on stubhub. The wife saw it and wanted to sell them (she's a Northwestern grad). I'm currently looking into getting divorce papers filled out and ready to file, just in case.
  12. I like the way you think! Yeah this is one of the most underrated shows in recent memory. I'm just glad new eps are finally back.
  13. Damn dude, that sucks. Are you allowed to trade your saturdays for other non-football saturday with other employees who might not be into football? This is happening to me too, although not on a regular basis. I am scheduled to work 2 saturdays per month, but i've already told people that I WON'T be showing up on gameday, and I've offered to work 2 saturdays for every 1 saturday someone takes for me after the season. Get creative, if you can. It's worth it, and there is nothing to watch sports wise from Feb-April anyway. Good luck!
  14. i've noticed this as well, and was very curious, i wonder if one of the writers was from nebraska, or it was just because we were the dominant team at the beginning of the series, when all the references were made. I looked into it a little. The only loose tie I could find is one of the writers for an episode where he mentions Nebraska football is also a writer on Big Bang Theory, where the main hot chick is from Nebraska. David Litt is the writer. He must have some tie to Nebraska.
  15. I can't get enough of Oso burrito down on Centennial Mall & O Street. Fish Tacos and nachos are too die for. I wish they had one in Omaha.
  16. Great investment but if you are hoping for HD type of quality than these videos are not for you. Quality I have a 52" LCD Sony HD flat screen tv and I own the 08' Colorado and Gater Bowl games and the 09' Oklahoma and Holiday bowl games and the quality isn't HD good. The picture quality isn't bad but its not the greatest and if you're used to watching TV shows or sports in HD than these DVD's could disappoint you but hey there Husker videos so you can't go wrong there. The best way I can describe the picture quality is lets just say if you have a HD receiver and you're watching Sportscenter in HD and then you turn it to Sportscenter SD, thats basically how the game will look on your tv and will be presented in standard def. If you've ever bought a Widescreen DVD and while watching the movie you notice the two black bars above the video shown here, you'll see that on the Husker videos except they'll be running vertically to the left and right of the video instead of horizontal top to bottom if thats something that will bother you. I don't buy Widescreen movies because those black bars bother me and make me want to pull my hair out. Radio call sync The radio call sync is done quit well but not all the time. There will be times where right after the play the radio announcers will be talking about the play and then it'll skip ahead to the next play and you'll miss what they had to say about that play, player(s), or any other news. The quality is good and crisp and a great addition to the DVD, its like you're watching a live game with the tv announcers on mute while listening to Grege Sharp, Lane Grindle and Matt Davidson on the radio. There are times especially the 09' OU game that you can hear the crowd in the background and will give you goosebumps or the 08' Colorada game when the crowd goes crazy after Henery's 57 yard field goal. Awesome, thanks for the response. Yeah I just wanted to make sure they were all at least TV SD quality. And not some kid in his basement with a video camera aimed at the TV while he's recording them.

  18. He might have just helped add years onto Mike Anderson's life.
  19. Does anyone know the quality of these Husker game DVD's at this site: http://www.huskervideos.com/ I'm considering making a sizable investment in some seasons, and want to know how the video quality is (specifically the 1990's DVDs)? I understand its video with the radio call synced up. How is the syncing of that also? If anyone knows I'd appreciate your comments. Thanks.
  20. Here are the shows I repeatedly watch on DVD/Blu-Ray: X-Files Seinfeld Futurama King of Queens (the amount of Husker football references in this show is impressive) The Sopranos King of the Hill (the best is the episode where Texas loses to Nebraska, of course)
  21. I think this column was a lot more fair than the despicable one he had put up before this, the professional journalists version of a bitchy tweet.
  22. WKU has a legit talent at QB in Kawaun Jakes, but he has nothing around him on either side of the ball. Nebraska-52 WKU-3
  23. I personally don't think we can win a national title with anyone but Zac this year. Now, does that mean I think with Zac we are automatic title favorites? No. But I think Zac's combination of experience and potential playmaking ability this year gives us our best chance to win, whether he is a field general, or plays more of a "Trent Dilfer circa 2000" role. I really hope he separates himself this week. We really don't need the national distraction of a presumed 3-way QB battle.
