  1. He was wearing a very dour expression....
  2. The Gateway Conference is better than any of those...
  3. First thing that needs to be done is to stuff Charles at the line from the start. Keep the guy under 100 yards and they lose since they rely on the success of their running game to keep the linebackers from dropping into the short zones to take away the little dink and dunk play action crap they like to throw once the running game is established. I wouldn't recommend a steady diet of blitzing either. Too much of that and Colorado will pick you apart with the short stuff for 5-10 yards a pop. Put them in 3rd and long situations as much as possible since their 3rd down efficiency is pretty poor. You stuff the run and take away the short crap to their receivers and they're going to be hurting. Not too impressed with their long-ball capabilities but the short stuff and yards after the catch can and will hurt if you let them get that ground game going.
  4. I really don't mind having all of these "meaningless" bowls. You still get a handful of games that showcase the top teams in the country in the BCS bowls. The rest of the bowl games give us fans one more game to watch and a chance to see more non-conference games. I like having the opportunity to see how the conferences stack up against one another. There are so few opportunities since BCS conference teams so often avoid scheduling games against quality teams in other BCS conferences. You're telling me you would actually tune into an exciting Insight Bowl between Texas A&M (featuring signature wins over such football powerhouses as Montana State, Fresno State, UL Monroe and Baylor) and the Iowa Hawkeyes (and their equally stellar wins vs Northern Illinois, Syracuse, Northwestern annd Minnesota)? Dude...you need a hobby! Both those teams...and the majority of the ones who will be playing in those minor league bowls, suck! They're only there because they beat up on schools like Slippery Rock, VMI and Maine! These are schools that should give the bowl trophy to the guy who schedules their pre-season games. He's their most valuable player!
  5. Here are all of my bowl predictions: Poinsettia Bowl – Who cares? New Orleans Bowl – Who cares? PapaJohns.com Bowl – Who cares? New Mexico Bowl – Who cares? Las Vegas Bowl – Who cares? Hawaii Bowl – Who cares? Motor City Bowl – Who cares? Holiday Bowl – Who cares? Champs Sports Bowl – Who cares? Texas Bowl – Who cares? Emerald Bowl – Who cares? Meineke Car Care Bowl – Who cares? Liberty Bowl – Who cares? Alamo Bowl – Who cares? Independence Bowl – Who cares? Armed Forces Bowl – Who cares? Sun Bowl – Who cares? Humanitarian Bowl – Who cares? Music City Bowl – Who cares? Insight Bowl – Who cares? Chick-fil-A Bowl – Who cares? International Bowl – Who cares? GMAC Bowl – Who cares? What a bunch of meaningless games.
  6. Yeesh, if that's really the case I'd hate to know how the Hawkeyes faithful feel every September... The same way you guys felt in November....defeated.
  7. Doesn't matter how many you lose...what matters is what you do with the ones that stay. Iowa had a good recruiting class last year as far as highly rated recruits are concerned. Now half of them are either in the stoney lonesome or headed that way. It isn't what people think of them before they get there that matters...it's what the ones who arrive do once they are there. I'd trade any 5-star recruit with an attitude for a two star kid that was willing to work and sacrifice for the team any day.
  8. You found that in the encyclopedia under "Rocky Mountain High" didn't you? Yep and that 8th win outa ten will be in that sh!t city you call home. Great...maybe you can stop by my house after the game and pick up your wife. I should be done with her by then.... If I'm married in two years... man, no. Cy good win over us, im just ribbing you. We'll see you next year. I'm just messing with you too You know how boring Iowa can be on a Friday night

  10. Your right of course...the Oklahoma-Nebraska game was something you looked forward too all fall. Great battles, fantastic finishes, great memories! The OU/NU rivalry was great...almost like playing in the Olympics of football. When you have to have CU as your rival it's more like playing in the Special Olympics of football....
  11. Sure! Great idea...though I don't know why the Iowa State Senators would want to have a holiday for Bob Devaney...Maybe Jim Criner or Jim Walden...but Devaney? Bah...as long as the state workers got the day off, they would declare Hitler's birthday a holiday...so why not
  12. You found that in the encyclopedia under "Rocky Mountain High" didn't you?
  13. 1976 Thanksgiving game against Oklahoma. My uncle who lived in Lincoln took me. First time I ever saw my uncle cry...
  14. Kinda what I was alluding to, but you obviously get the gist. Yep..perfect example of teamwork. CU could learn a few lessons from this board...once they master those pesky reading and comprehension skills.... Am I actually witnessing an Iowa State alum and a couple of Huskers trying to make fun of Colorado's academics? Holy mother of God, now I've seen EVERYTHING. Yeesh... Last Saturday, after the Buff fans had all left, the visitor's side of the stands were littered with CU hats of all types...baseball caps, stocking caps, cowboy hats...thousands of them. We couldn't figure out why all these CU hats had been left in Jack Trice Stadium until somebody pointed out the instructions on the beer bottles..."TO OPEN...TWIST OFF CAP". It says something when my friends that go to ISU hate their life. Don't worry...once they get the hang of running water and electricity they'll start feeling better about themselves. Just remind them that those openings that they find every so often in the wall are electrical outlets and they should NOT try opening them with their car keys. We lose more students from Colorado that way....
  15. What's wrong with that? It's not like he said his team isn't pathetic and others are. In fact, he should know pathetic better than any of us. We are NOT amused...
  16. Newsflash for you...a portion of that .300 batting average was the team I was referring to as pathetic. Totally justified.

  18. Too many bowls with too many mediocre and down right piss-poor teams eligible to play in them. Why...when I WAS A BOY there were only four or five bowl games and they showcased the top teams. It meant something when you played in a bowl game back in the day...now it just means you scheduled yourself a cakewalk non-conference schedule and accidently beat a couple of the tomato cans in your conference... Look at Iowa. Those idiots are positively pathetic yet they are eligible for a bowl bid. What big victories did they achieve to get to this point? Northwestern? Minnesota? Yeah...real hallmark victories there. Why don't they just round up a few more greedy cities and tv networks and invent some more bowls so everybody can play in one?
  19. Actually...most Cyclone fans would give their left nut to go 5-7 once in a while

  21. I always envisioned it red on black instead of white on black. Three words...Invest In Photoshop!
  22. Wally --- I like that No, I am not Callahan. I do however think that right and reasonable behavior is it's own reward and that it would be great if we as a fan base were classy and great sports in both victory and in defeat. Nebraska is a great place. We long ago had to leave Nebraska for a job but still see that state as a special place. Frankly, I have been surprised that we as fans have been so classless (again, not everyone, but many). Perhaps it is just an outcrop of the internet age --- anyone can post in representation of a group and all it takes is certain critical mass of posters with poor behavior before the thing goes south. In any event, I, and I can only speak for myself, am more saddened by the fan response than what it that the fans are responding to. It's not the entire fan base...it's just them damn hillbillies from Cozad.
  23. Exactly. Hawkins has a reputation for running trick plays simply because he coached at Boise, but he really hasn't run many trick plays at all this year. He ran a fake fumble/pass play earlier in the year (that was awesome, by the way), but other than that he really hasn't run any outright deceptive plays at all. Except for the "If you don't get a first down or get out of bounds with 17 seconds left in the game, have your players stand around like idiots until you burn the clock down to 1 second then try to kick a field goal after time expires and complain that you got screwed when the refs don't allow it" trick he tried to pull last week...that was one we didn't see coming. What game were you watching? We kicked two field goals in that time frame, one from 50 and one from 55, only in the Big 12 can a college kicker kick back to back 50+ yard field goals and have them waived off if you are on the road. Mike Leach is right, the officiating in the Big 12 is the Big Joke, and ironically I root for UT after CU because that is my father's alma mater and I grew up a Horn. Either get some refs that have no allegiance to a Big 12 school or just contract out to those retards in the Sun Belt Conference, at least then you cannot claim bias, you can only claim idiocacy. I claim neither bias nor idiocy...I claim VICTORY! Yes...ISU 31 - CU 28. We win! You lose! Losers! Losers! Bwahahaha! Sweet victory! Same type of feeling that the Huskers will be enjoying after they manhandle Hawkins and his gang of thugs. By the way, in case I forgot to mention this: ISU 31 - CU 28! Losers! Losers! Bwhahahaha Also, could you please educate me as to what this idiocacy is? Is this a new form of government like a democacy or some sort of secret society that only CU fans know about?
