  1. Any updates on those players who were rehabbing this season. I was really wondering about Chris Williams, Brent Qvale, Spano, and any word on Javorio Burkes and his prognosis??
  2. Compared to the SEC? Hell, half the high schools in Omaha would be considered "smart schools". Would disagree with that one, Flordia: average SAT 1240 - 1410 on the 1600 scale. Median GPA 4.1-4.4 Nationally Ranked: #47 Best University per Newsweek Vanderbilt: Average ACT: 30 Median GPA: UW: 3.75 W. 4.19 Nationally Ranked # 22 University per Newsweek University of Georgia: Avg Act: 28 Median GPA: 3.8 Nationally Ranked #58 University of Neb. Average ACT: 25 Med GPA: Not listed Nationally Ranked: N/A Yup SEC schools are so dumb. Sounds like Nebraska isn't too bad and moving up. http://newsroom.unl.edu/releases/2008/08/2...ct+improved+UNL Also, if we take the median GPAs and academic stats of student athletes compared to other schools we would rank very, very high. Our academic all americans is proof enough and our graduation rate is another thing to be very proud of. Also, just to reiterate, the author of the things you quoted to start this thread is talking about student athletes, not the Universitys and all their students.
  3. I heard this guy on the Brian Kenny show tonight. He was basically talking about graduation rates. And when looking at graduation rates of student athletes at schools Nebraska does deserve mention along with the Northwesterns, Cals, Stanfords, and TCUs of the world.
  4. I think the best reason to stay in the Big 12 would be if they decided to reallign. This way you spread the southern power out and even up the divisions. Do an East and West. Put Texas and TTech/baylor on one side with Texas A&M and TTech/Baylor on the other side. Then put Oklahoma on one side and Okie state on the other. I've posted this idea on the go to the Big 10 thread. In the end I decided that if this was proposed it would get shot down because some of the So. Div. rivalries would not be played every year so they would kill it since it would not get a 9-3 vote with 4 texas teams voting nay, it could only get 8 yay votes. So, let's just find a new conference.
  5. He's from Cali. Huh? That's not how we dress. Maybe if he was wearing board shorts and Rainbow flip-flops..... true. Ha! I love coming back to the board after a hour or so and seeing this type of stuff. I just assumed you Cali folk invented those dang things..... Just joking man....i have a couple v-necks...yeah that's right, i do. I live in Chicago. If you walk around Lincoln Park in a crew neck you get shot. OK, I'm missing your joke I think. I lived in Chicago, in Lincoln Park, for 4 years. I wore crew neck t-shirts all the time and never got shot. Now, if you wore crew necks, instead of v-necks, North of Lakeview around Uptown you might get bitch slapped.
  6. Everytime Meredith stepped on the field this year he made plays. It was actually kind of crazy. He is just always around the ball. His technique is unbelievable. I made sure when I noticed him on the field to watch him. He almost never lets a lineman get on him. His hand work is exceptional. I really think this kid is gonna be great for us next year.
  7. I think either we look seriously at moving to the Big 10 unless the Big 12 makes some changes. Really what needs to happen, and probably is actually best for NU, is to stay in the Big 12, but on one condition. Reallignment!!!!!! This would help alot in my opinion. There would still be southern bias, however, those southern team would be pulling harder for their own divisions just like they do now. So, what I am putting forth is making the conference East and West. Put Oklahoma and Oklahoma state on different sides, and put Texas and Texas A&M on opposite sides with Baylor and TTech split one way or the other with them. This would even out the conference and make everything much more fair and at least equal out the southern bias. This is what I would like to see. West Nebraska Texas A&M Oklahoma St. Texas Tech/Baylor Kansas Colorado East Texas Oklahoma Mizzery Texas Tech/Baylor Iowa St. Kansas St. Now, the chances of this are slim. One big reason is because big rivalries in the Southern division would not be played every year. So, even though the Big 12 didn't care about taking away the Nebraska/Oklahoma rivalry, God forbid if we take away their rivalries. So, I see only one choice. Go to the Big 10.
  8. The other question is, "Why is Meredith wearing a v-neck t-shirt?"
  9. I got mine thru the University. Does anyone know when we will get them?
  10. I'm very shocked he actually accepted the KU job so quickly. Did Cincinnati talk to him at all? I actually thought he would've been a better fit there. Cincinnati is a basketball school, but nothing like KU. I feel he would get more support from the AD in Cincinnati. But, I guess it's a done deal now. Sorry, but I hope he never wins a Big 12 North title. In the end that will get him fired unfortunately, but I bleed Husker Red, and KU is my enemy.
  11. Jerry's place is never going to be Memorial stadium south if they don't change the way tickets are sold for the CCG. If you were there you would have noticed there were way more UT fans. And, I don't feel it was because of location necessarily, but lack of affordable tickets for NU. Cowboys season ticket holders had first chance at tickets. I'm sure there are way more Cowboy season ticket holders that are fans of teams in the Southern division compared to North Division. Also, even if the season ticket holder isn't a So. Div. team fan, I bet there are many friends, family, or aquaintances of these holders that are So. Div. team fans than any North Div. school. As far as moving the CCG game because which fans, etc were shown more on the screen isn't a reason or an excuse. However, if you were there you could see the definite bias towards Texas by what was shown on the screen. It did get old. All the NU fans were talking about it. Don't know how many of you listen to 1620thezone but they are right now talking about what happened when the Big 12 was formed and how it handicapped Nebraska the most. If you can later, listen to the podcasts they have on their website to hear explanations of what happened when the Big 12 was formed. Also, as far as Dan Cook, why do you think he is in the DFW area? Money man, Money!! Also about him being a stud booster, I'm not sure about that anymore. Maybe the fences have been mended but he was none to happy a couple of years ago when Pedey was let go. Read article. http://www.journalstar.com/sports/football...98055734a6.html
  12. Sean Robinson, please oh please. He'd be a great xmas gift.
  13. Of course they have huge respect for us. They respect us for bending over and taking it just like they wanted us to. They got the conference they wanted, and they got everything set up just like they wanted in order to take over the conference and end up the "head" of the league. Yes, some of it was our own fault, but things have gotten even worse than anyone has expected. I was watching 60 minutes(I think) the other night and they were discussing how Mack got his $5mil contract and how all the faculty were mad because the school is struggling financially. They talked to the AD and he said they made like $85 million last year from football, and they gave a whopping 6.5 million to the school. I don't remember what NU made from football last year but I think it was something like in the $60ish million area. Look how much more money they make than us!! Where do you think this money comes from?? TV, ads, commercials, and big money texas. Those who say, ya well we have Buffet. Well Buffet is rich as hell, but he doesn't live and die Nebraska athletics and doesn't throw that much money to them. Now, on the other hand, there are many, many rich people in Texas, and many are huge UT football fans and give ALOT of money to them. When you add up all these people and their money we can't compete. Then on top of that, they get more money funneled to them secondary to tv and other conference things. Sorry, but if people don't think there is a southern bias in our conference then you better take a harder look. You are the people who also would say ESPN doesn't have a bias towards the SEC and Tebow.
  14. Single mom I think, some younger brothers and a total respect and love for his mom. I think he is staying close to home and as much as I would love to see him as a Husker I say good for him if that is the case. Be a great role model for your brothers and help your mom all you can. As much as I am all in favor of family, sometimes making a sacrifice for the future of your family needs to be done. As we are all aware, just because you are a 5 star(i.e. Lucky) doesn't mean you are going to make it big after college in the League. Just within the last two years I went from seeing most of our defensive players going from getting a real job after college to many of them going to the league and making some good money. Look at Suh, before Bo came in I think he would have still been good but not an early round projection. Two years later he is the most dominant player in college football, and has everything all teams in the NFL are looking for. Bo and Carl are unbelievable coaches, especially for defense. They can make players big timers eventually bound for the NFL to make big money. I just don't know how you see that as a defensive player and not want to get there coaching. In the end I think Owa and his family would benefit with big money in the NFL. And it may be quicker than Suh, because he will be getting the coaching immediately. If Suh came in under Pelini's I don't think he would still be at Nebraska.
  15. Crabtree on USC 1620 the zone just said he has heard that Oregon is a huge favorite for Owa now.
  16. Where did you hear Robinson was still interested in us? He hasn't wavered since his early commitment to Purdue. I didn't say he was still interested, I said he was interested in us before Gabbert committed and we quit recruiting QBs.
  17. If true, so be it. I think Gabbert could have done well here, but I have always thought Sean Robinson would be a great fit here and I think if Gabbert truly decommits we should get in contact with Sean. He was pretty high on Nebraska before the Gabbert commit and I think he would love to still come here.
  18. This sort of humurous post I do find funny and do not take exception with. Thanks. That is funny sh!t.
  19. Oh, I forgot I mentioned the WAC. Oh wait, no i didn't. Thanks for writing a stupid letter that has nothing to do with what I said. Main Entry: sat·ire Pronunciation: \ˈsa-ˌtī(-ə)r\ Function: noun Etymology: Middle French or Latin; Middle French, from Latin satura, satira, perhaps from (lanx) satura dish of mixed ingredients, from feminine of satur well-fed; akin to Latin satis enough — more at sad Date: 1501 1 : a literary work holding up human vices and follies to ridicule or scorn 2 : trenchant wit, irony, or sarcasm used to expose and discredit vice or folly synonyms see wit Take a literature class sometime...you might learn something. Believe me, I have taken my fair share!! However, I guess I don't get what you are trying to say. You basically made my point for me in that you were just ridiculing me. What I was saying with my first reply is you only wrote that in order to ridicule me which is basically juvenile, and pardon me if you actually are. Take a manners class sometime...you might learn something.
  20. Thank you for your reasonable reply for discussion.
  21. Thank you. I don't understand the big stink. Of course I was not serious about the SEC, but the big 10 has been talked about before. Also the realignment has been talked about before and actually I think this is the best thing to do. I don't get why people on here get such a kick out of putting down others. Some people really need help if they need to do that in order to get a pat on the back from themselves.
  22. Oh, I forgot I mentioned the WAC. Oh wait, no i didn't. Thanks for writing a stupid letter that has nothing to do with what I said. Also for others, I'm sure you were all down in Dallas supporting the team. Well, I was, and as bad as it hurt on TV, those of you who were not at the game will never know exactly what it felt like to be there in person and the feeling that came over the husker crowd when that final kick went through. It was the worst loss I have ever been at, way worse than blowouts. Then not only did I have to sleep in Dallas that night, or not sleep actually, then I headed back home in the car the next day and hit a fricking winter storm in Kansas that puts me home 2 hours later so I didn't get to see my little girl before she went to bed. Sorry if I have some pent up anger over the game and the conference, but I'm at wits end after that game and traveling. Say what you want, I can take it. I just feel pity for those that feel like they need to berade posters for what they say because it's anonymous.
  23. Yes, most of the thread is for sh!its and giggles. However, the splitting of the Big 12 into different divisions is not a joke. I really believe this would help the conference in the end and equal out power. I noticed no one commented on that because alot of the knobs on this board would rather make fun of someone than actually try to put together a correct sentence for good discussion. Also, going to the Little 11 is not a new idea, it's been talked about extensively before. Also, if I'm stupid about worrying about giving the southern division of the Big 12 too much power, then TO is stupid too. If you don't think money and power come into influencing this conference then you are just ridiculously naive.
  24. We really, really need to get out of this conference! Is there any way to get this process started quickly? A petition or what? I'm not saying we completely lost to Texas because of biases because our offense sucked, but you cannot tell me there is not biases toward Texas and the South Division teams. Texas people are crooked as hell and there is money being traded and pushed all over down there. They have many, many, many very rich people in the state compared to our few. We cannot keep up with the amount of payoffs they can make. Even Osborne has said he is worried about this conference being too controlled by southern influences. I think we need an exit strategy and we need to get to implementing it soon! I know the Little 11 would be the obvious choice and we could finally give them their 12th team to make a new conference, but I believe the SEC would also be a possibility. There are a couple teams I'm sure they wouldn't mind getting rid of(Kentucky or Vandy). Either way, we have to get out of this crooked BS Big 12 southern biased conference. There is too much money and power in the south to get a fair shake. If we don't change conferences then it needs to be looked at a way to reallign the conference. Split up the Texas teams and OU and OKie state into different divisions so you will have 2 Texas teams and 1 Oklahoma team in each division. Yes, our offense sucks and probably was more to blame for the loss than anything, but the Big 12 conference also sucks and I for one am sick of it and its BS!!!
