  1. So let's say he commits... does this mean that we don't take Calvin if he comes back around? Any chance this was brewing at the AA game and Calvin chose the beavers because of it? Could explain some things
  2. Actually you are mostly correct, but I do believe he left us off of his commitment video. Maybe that was a sign of respect though. Not sure where I read it but I do remember him being quoted it was a tough decision between the two and he specifically mentioned KW. Have a feeling we were always kind of still in the back of his mind. Not to mention the twitter fight between position coaches when he committted. Not sure why people think Zach Smith is such a good recruiter. He comes off as such a tool, and that's not just coming as an opposing fan. Guy is just a loser
  3. When he committed he made it known it was between tOSU and us. Said how much he liked KW. From the day he committed analysts some predicted this would happen. My guy tells me he trusts our staff and KW more than the bozo coaching in Columbus. Hiring Donte had to help too
  4. The best thing for everyone to do is just take a deep breath. Something tells me this will not be done until signing day
  5. So did he not early enroll? Is he on campus? Haven't heard or seen anything from him that would suggest he is
  6. Who cares what he's rated, the kid can flat out ball. We should be happy he wasn't rated higher, otherwise there would have been plenty of schools after his services. He stayed under the radar, we stayed loyal, and he has he opportunity to be a very good player.
  7. I would agree. You need someone in charge that truly believes Nebraska can be elite, not someone just hoping they can get there. It takes a special person. Not saying Riley doesn't believe it, but he may not know what it takes to make Nebraska elite. It's a unique place.
  8. From a USC scout article: "One 5 star player in San Antonio said he basically eliminated Nebraska from contention because he was tired of all the GBR tweets." This article also basically says it's USC or Ohio State for Darnay with details about the path the entire recruitment has taken. Sounds like this has been drama filled from the start. One sentence about Nebraska, basically saying that the writers pumping Nebraska sunshine about whir chances to land Darnay have "been vetted and have no validity." That is the only mention of Nebraska in the entire article. These people are inside the entire LA scene and see Nebraska as no threat even today
  9. If you search his name at any of his other top schools his name does not show up. Not that it means anything A little tough to do at USC since you need a login to actually see the directory. FWIW, not listed at Ohio State directory. Me thinks it's between USC and Nebraska like many have speculated. I think if we land Darnay it will make someone like Lewis much more likely to jump on board and see that leaving home isn't all bad
  10. Not sure 62-3 is the definition of competing but I guess that would just be my opinion on the meaning of the word. This is the last I'll say on the subject, you just seem interested in smart ass posts. We need better players, lots of them. That's not happening.
  11. With the apparent addition of the yearly "I'm-deciding-to-start-following(cough bitching about cough)-recruiting-in-December" crowd, the sky has begun to fall. Glad to have you, buddy. So you know how long I've been following recruiting? Interesting. It was merely a comment on this years class and the affect it may have in the future. No need to be some high and mighty big shot internet tough guy. You're allowed to be disappointed in sub par recruiting too, don't need to hide your feelings I was posting regarding your participation on the Recruiting section here on Huskerboard, because that's where this happens to be, but hey... Not high and mighty by any means. I'm still excited - we are far from calling this sub-par recruiting yet. Nebraska hasn't signed a five star in years and there's a decent probability we land 2+. Ride the waves man. Fair, I like some of the pieces as well. Gebbia and Roberts will be studs IMHO. But I expect our program to compete with Michigan and Ohio State, let alone beat the teams in our division. In order for that to happen we have to upgrade the talent and that starts with recruiting. HCMR and company are trying to upgrade talent, but trying will only get you so far and just a couple recruits each year won't get the job done. tOSU class has more than just a couple elite players, it's filled with them. We need to close the talent gap to compete with them, and the class as it stands (and where it appears to be heading) won't accomplish that. You're fair to hold out hope that guys like Lewis and Sarell will ultimately choose NU, but the trends are not telling us they will. I'll watch and follow closely until signing day, but I'll be realistic in what those in the know are telling us.

  13. With the apparent defection of Leitao this class is officially falling apart. Not only are we losing recruits but it appears we are losing momentum with any and all big name recruits. We may look back at this class as a turning point for this staff, in a bad way
  14. In light of recent events, not sure I would have chosen that establishment to make the announcement...
  15. Maybe this is just wishful thinking, but with the Lewis periscope video I have had the revelation that the guys announcing at the Army game are waiting to make a big statement and announce for Nebraska on the same day on national TV
  16. He is either really trying troll Husker fans on Jan. 7th, or it would appear we are the favorite right now. I like to hear that he knows of some silent commits, means one is either him or he is really in the know of our recruiting class which is also a great sign. One thing that can't be overlooked, Tristan Gebbia. Receivers want to play with an elite qb, and Lewis is familiar with both Gebbia and O'Brien.
  17. I take that tweet meaning he's going to choose the program that isn't quite on the level of the other, UCLA. Was retweeted by Theo Howard a current UCLA player saying "He really is tho". Don't get your hopes up, we have accepted he's not coming here, and he has lost interest long ago.
  18. Is it just me, or does the future of this staff seem to hinge on the success of this class.. Momentum seems to almost be non existent even with the latest hire. This program needs a big next two months

  20. Do you think that Nebraska needs to be unique in college football to return to greatness? I don't mean specifically returning to the option, but that would be an example of being different. If Langs and Riley offense were to run how they want I'd imagine it looking very much like Washington. Balanced, multiple, and a chess match. Can that realistically work here with the inherent disadvantages or does Nebraska need to have a unique identity to return to relevance?
  21. I like the talent we have coming up at the LB position. I feel like everyone gets so into recruiting they forget the guys on the roster. Berry, Alexander, Jefferson are some athletic dudes
  22. Schaefer said on 1620 that the staff has been in the know for a couple days
