  1. that somrone had half of his team leave during his 1-10 season at Doane. They were 1-9 and I could find no mention of half the team quitting. Doesn't mean it didn't happen. I do know, "Winners never quit, and quitters never win." ...T_O_B
  2. Tommie's teams were 3-17 at Doane an NIAA school in a division that has been dominated the past several years by Sioux Falls University. Don't know what Doane's football history is but I'd say it was probably a pretty rough road for Head Coach Frazier. ...T_O_B
  3. Interesting that the name of Tommie Frazier has not been mentioned on these boards as a possible candidate for an Assistant Coaching position. He's also had some experience doing P R and fund raising for the University. Seems to me he would be a valuable asset to the Athletic Department and the Football Program. He has strong ties in this area (his wife is from Sioux Falls, SD) and he has never strayed too far from Lincoln since he graduated. ...T_O_B
  4. TO has 3 to 5 years in him, Let's not forget he's 70. What I see is TO bringing in a Husker Alum. to learn the ropes from him and then take over. (Note the Rimington rumor.) In this way you gain some measure of stability in the athletic department. ...T_O_B
  5. The players gave up a long time ago. They have 0 faith in their coaches and that's why they're playing like crap. It all started with USC and never stopped. The program needs to start all over again and it's going to take a long long time to recover IF THEY EVER DO RECOVER... The loss to USC hurt but the downward spiral began with a win, the Ball State game. It used to be that a Husker loss meant a big time drubbing for who ever we played the next week. We will recover and it will be sooner than later. ...T_O_B
  6. You must be a winner, you can't even spell loser!! Yeah, I graduated from Iowa State. Get a life, you know what I ment. ...T_O_B
  7. That's is why I dated an English major all through college. She helped me make the Dean's List 13 of 15 quarters. Smartest thing I ever did. ...T_O_B
  8. I've also heard that Kevin C. is interviewing to be the overnight clean up man. ...T_O_B
  9. Well here we go, a topic on JRIB is who has sunk lower Nebraska or Notre Dame? Romie and T. Moore are pitching ND and Tom Friend thinks its Nebraska. Loosing 10 of 11 obviously says its ND and especially since their last loss was to the Naval Academy. Nothing against the Navy. One point Friend made was that Calli's Raiders gave up on him his last year in Oakland and now there is a repeat performance in Lincoln. The house cleaning begins the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I for one will be washing down the loeftovers with Red Beer as soon as I hear the news. ...T_O_B
  10. Getting the right man is the only consideration. If we loose some of BC's kids in the process well they were BC's kids and probably interested only in a pro career. We need kids who want to be part of the University of Nebraska and the tradition built over the course of the last 38 years. The right man needs to be hired and then the recruits will come. "If you build the right program, they will come" ...T_O_B
  11. Well after letting him get away with excuse after excuse in his first year 2004 why would'nt he think that losing not such a big deal? That's just the NFL coach in him showing through. 10 - 6 in the NFL is a good season. Sorry winning 60% or less of your games in college means that as a coach you STINK Bill. ...T_O_B
  12. My support has never wavered. My son's support has never wavered. My daughter's support has never wavered. Husker Nation stands shoulder to shoulder, heads held high firmly entrenched in the support of our University and our football team. We don't have to give our support AGAIN because we never stopped supporting our team. Welcome back to the fold my friend. GO BIG RED!!!! ...T_O_B
  13. December 1, 2007 would be a good time to hear from the seniors. As good as Mo P is he hasn't been used enough. There also has to be some others who could add some perspective to the situation. I just hope it happens. ...T_O_B
  14. There are several good candidates out there and if we wait too long we'll be looking at the mid-range guys. TO has to be ready to pull the trigger as soon as the Colo. game is over. Then make the preliminary contacts with the top 3 to 5 candidates and make the hire as soon as the National Championship game is over. When we hired BC we just plain took too long to make a decision and look at who we had to settle for and who he hired as assistants. ...T_O_B
  15. We need a defensive mind. The offence has the talent. The defence just can't do it and needs the most work. With Bohl and Cosgrove being the DC's for 7 of the last 8 years we don't have Black Shirts any more, more like light gray shirts. ...T_O_B
  16. You are right, these guys don't know jack about Husker Nation, the University and the team but I would like to see BC resign after the Colorado and who knows maybe he already has with the stipulation that it not be made public until after the last game. If this were the case it could go a long way towards making the transition go a lot smother. ...T_O_B
  17. Great post, what a lot of work you did. I like Peleni because he's a defensive minded coach, which we obviously need. The coaching and recruiting on the defensive side has been lackluster to say the least and from what we saw last week Ganz and the offence my not be our worry. Bo also has the fire to motivate young men and get a lot out of them. The only thing that bothers me is he seems to move around quite a bit. GB to Lincoln to Norman to LSU. What are his career goals? Does he see himself ending up in the pros and how soon? I don't want someone for 4 or 5 years and then have to go through all this again. We were blessed that TO was so stable. Lots to think about but we need to re-establish the Black Shirt tradition and I think Bo P. is the coach to do it. ...T_O_B
  18. OMG the humidity in Fla. must have clouded your memory. ...T_O_B
  19. Jim Rome has again called for Calli to resign, "do the honorable thing resign and leave all that money on the table." This isn't the first time Romie has said those words. Its also a position Steven A. Smith has taken the same position saying on "The Sports Reporters" Sunday that Calli should have been given his walking papers before he left the Kansas field Saturday. Dick Vitale said yesterday on "Mike and Mike" that Calli should be fired and that we should take a look at Skip Holtz. The unfortunate thing for Nebraska is that BC probably won't leave any money behind and its too bad we don't have any recourse. Pederson got his and will probably land on his feet. He extended Calli's contract and in so doing took good care of his boy. Maybe Calli will send SP a couple hundered grand as a way of saying thanks. You naturally want stability in a program and extending contracts is a way of doing that. Unfortunately coaches never loose. If they get fired they collect, if they decide to leave the new employer buys out their contract for them. A win win situation. It stinks. Lets just hope TO can find a guy with integrity enough to stay put and produce. ...T_O_B :cheers
  20. No more PRO coaches please. tell that to USC and ASU They weren't in the pros long enough for the NFL to corrupt them. You can also ask the people at Notre Dame, Pittsburg and oh yeah Nebraska. ...T_O_B
  21. Lots of speculation and plenty of rumors but nothing concrete but lets face it nothing is going to happen with the present couching staff until after the Colorado game and we probably won't know who the new couch is until after the National Championship game (when ever that is, sucks so bad that its not on New Years day, I hate this BCS bull$...!). ...T_O_B
  22. You can't stop saying it. Big Red is and always will be Big Red! We need to stand shoulder to shoulder, heads held high, together for ever!!! ...T_O_B
  23. No more ex-NFL guys. Pittsburg stinks! Notre Dame Stinks!! Nebraska stinks!!! All have ex-NFL coaches. These guys can't coach unless all there players were All Americans. They don't know how to coach a guy that doesn't have the skill to play in the pros. Please no more NFLers for us. ...T_O_B
  24. that was stupid. stop posting. We all need to lighten up a bit. Speculation is all weve got until the Saturday after Thanksgiving. At that point we can all drop off a box or two at the Callihan and Cosgrove houses and wish them God speed on the way out of town. ...T_O_B
  25. "Who has Navy beat?" How about Notre Dame at Notre Dame? and Pittsburg at Pittsburg? I know they stink and are also saddled with over rated ex-NFL coaches ( Weiss and Wanstad ). Looks like there are a number of colleges making the "Lets hire a NFL guy" mistake. PJ sounds like a coach who deserves a serious look. ...T_O_B
