  1. Where do you get pocky? I'd never heard of it before and I didn't google it.
  2. I've mostly had them served in someone's garage with copious quantities of mass produced lager. That's sort of a dipping sauce, right? You were sauced, at least.
  3. I would argue that they are distinct. All french fries are potatoes but not all potatoes are french fries sort of scenario. It's a gray area. I think when you're talking about Rocky Mountain Oysters, you're specifically talking about the testes prepared as a separate thing - deep fried, served with dipping sauce, etc. Sweat Breads are typically a ground-up mash like a pate, with various bits thrown together to make the batch.
  4. You can get oxtails at Super Saver. They are well worth it.
  5. Bobby was spending a lot of time texting Miss Dorrell during game weeks. A week-by-week breakdown from the 2011 season: LINK On a side note, how stupid does Petrino have to be to be doing this on a school-provided phone? How many stories of public schools involved in FOIA requests does he have to hear about before he realizes that his phone records are public information? That's just asinine.
  6. OK, go do some research and tell me the names of the non-Dem, non-Rep candidates in the presidential elections from 1988 (when I could first vote, and did) through 2008. When you compile that list, which won't be long, highlight the ones who could have done a good job running the United States. When you can't do that without compromising your "other viable candidates" mantra, you'll understand what I'm talking about. Simply being a third-party candidate isn't enough to garner a vote. They must be viable.
  7. Do you regret that vote? With the benefit of hindsight and maturity . . . I certainly do. It's difficult to say, but no. I still do not think Algore would have been a better president than Bush. I also don't think Kerry would be better, even though I voted for him out of distaste for Bush (knowing as I voted that Bush had it wrapped up even without Nebraska, which voted overwhelmingly for Bush anyway). Bush from 2001-2003ish was OK. I thought he handled 9/11 and its immediate aftermath reasonably well. It wasn't until he went batsh#t crazy and decided to invade Iraq that he lost me. Then the taxes, and the crony-ism.... it went downhill. But if I had to do it over again knowing what I know now, I would have voted for Bush again. Algore is just a complete tool.
  8. No. It means he's the least bad of two bad options. So let me get this straight. You vote for the lesser of two evils instead of voting for a 3rd party candidate that might be more in line with your values? Like i said you only have yourself to blame for the lack of 3rd parties in this country. You haven't got it straight. To date there hasn't been a third party option who is more qualified to run this country. When that happens, you can bet your sweet bippy I'll vote for them. Listen, it's cute you have this little agenda you're trying to push. But you're just spinning your wheels here. You can keep trying to paint it that Independents are in some way "bad," but it's just not going to stick. But by all means, keep trying. It's amusing, if not accurate.
  9. On your list, which thing that you haven't tried are you most interested in trying? For me it's probably Haggis. I've heard so much about it that I'm dying to find some. But there aren't really any good haggis purveyors in Lincoln.
  10. No. It means he's the least bad of two bad options. Same as when I voted for Bush over Gore. In fact, I've voted Republican in four of the last six presidential elections.
  11. And when I vote for Republican candidates, that's OK, right? Because I vote for both, regardless of party affiliation. It's only not OK when I vote for Obama, is that what you're getting at?
  12. It'll be over 20, easy, by the time we get to the game we wear the alts in. Then there'll be another 10 pages critiquing the unis we actually wore, bemoaning the fact that we didn't wear "THIS ALTERNATE" and hoping that we do this again every year - with a fair amount of analysis of tradition and discussions of blue-hairs thrown in.
  13. Dirk's first tweet of the day. He's so giddy that he called Pelini a liar. "Co-hosting Schick/Nick on 1620. We've been on 30 mins & I've already called Pelini a liar! (He said he didnt know he'd been linked to Ark)"

  14. I'm so curious now. I'm Independent - which party do I support, husker_99? I'm dying to hear the answer.
  15. Yes you are to blame when you don't vote for the person you really believe in and thinks that the best. I won't tell someone how to vote but just because Democrats and Republicans are the majority doesn't mean another party can't become just as big. Quit making excuses. Fact is Independents aren't as big as you think they are. Sure they might not be registered but that doesn't mean they don't support a party. What are you even talking about? Who says I can't find a candidate that best fits my personal beliefs among those proffered? Where do you get the impression that there's some "perfect candidate" out there that I could vote for if I only dug hard enough? News flash - NOBODY exactly fits my ideal of a perfect candidate. Because I vote for the person who most fits my requirements, be they Republican or Democrat, that's not a problem. That's called my right as a U.S. citizen to vote for whom I choose. I support neither party. Your continued efforts to paint me as a supporter of either is silly. Simply casting a vote for a person does not support a party. And it's a far better position to be in than to mindlessly check the box next to the party you arbitrarily support.
  16. Independents are to blame for what? For not supporting one party over the other dogmatically? For not filling Republican or Democrat coffers with money? For being far more likely to vote for those tertiary other parties than the zombies who vote for whichever guy has an ( R ) or a ( D ) next to their name? Get off your high horse. Independents today aren't to blame for America's two-party system. The only reason those tertiary parties exist is because of Independents. Go sell that line to someone else.
  17. How would you even quantify the bold? You're simply saying, "I'm Republican, so I think Republicans are more informed." Be honest with yourself. I'm saying, screw both parties. They don't care about you. They want your money, your vote and your silence. Stop registering as a Republican and free your mind of the derp they're spewing at you. Don't register as a Democrat, either - more derp. Join the growing ranks of Moderate Independents, who adhere to neither party. Moderates might be growing but they are still voting Democrat or Republican. Btw i never said i was a Republican or Democrat. They're voting Democrat or Republican because - for now - those are the only two viable choices. That doesn't mean we like it. If you live on a desert island, you're going to eat coconut and crab every night. Kinda stuck like that.
  18. How would you even quantify the bold? You're simply saying, "I'm Republican, so I think Republicans are more informed." Be honest with yourself. I'm saying, screw both parties. 19. So, it looks like we can expect a good six or seven people, if everyone can show up. That's a good crowd for our first event.
  20. So i should be informed of someone who isn't even in the race yet? Most uniformed voters were Democrat. I heard plenty of time white people saying they voted for Obama cause he was black or Palin because she was stupid and solely made their choice off of that. Not based on any real decisions. Young voters also fall into this category. They pretty much wanted a black President cause they actually thought things would change. Yikes. I'm supposed to respond to this pile of derp? Should you be informed of someone who isn't in the race yet? Depends on what you mean by "informed." Should have a basic enough understanding of the politics that control your life to at least be familiar with the name Marco Rubio? Yes, especially if you're an informed enough person to know names like Cole Pensick, Tommy Armstrong, Charles Jackson and Tyler Wullenwaber. For all the minimal effort it takes you to know about your college football team's backups, you could be reasonably informed about people like Rubio. Not difficult at all. Are most uninformed voters Democrat? I don't know how you'd even begin to quantify that. I'm sure you could find a study saying this. I'm sure you could find a study saying Tea Partiers are the most uninformed, or that Moderates are, or Conservatives, or any demographic you choose. Is it reality? Hardly. It's a pretty silly accusation to make. You heard plenty of white people saying they voted for Obama because he's black, or (I presume) against Palin because she's stupid? I'm certain you did. I heard the same thing. I heard the opposite as well. I heard people voted for Palin because she's sexy in her red blazer, because she's a woman, because she's Republican. I heard that people voted against Obama because he's black as much as I heard they voted for him because he's black. No demographic is free from bias, so if you're trying to throw Democrats under the bus here, you're sadly mistaken. There are racist Republicans out there in droves. Racist Tea Partiers, racist Democrats, racist Independents, etc. There's a study that shows people who watch Fox News are less-well-informed than people who watch no news at all. I heard, I heard, I heard. Blah, blah, blah. You can hear anything you want to hear. Young voters fall into the category of people who did the above things? So what? So do older voters. So do middle-aged voters. So do folks of any age. Uninformed voters are everywhere, in every party, Independent, of every age. Young voters wanted a black president because they thought things would change. What does that nonsense even mean? People voted for Obama because he was a better candidate than McCain. They're going to re-elect Obama because he's a better candidate than Romney. Yes, you have your fringe wackos on either side who will either vote for Obama because he's Democrat/black/standard Christian/whatever just like you'll have fringe wackos on the other side who'll vote against him for those very reasons. You'll have fringe wackos who'll vote against Romney because he's Mormon. Do we really need to waste our time talking about the fringe, or should we stick to the vast majority of Americans and talk about the normal people? Me, I'd like to ignore the fringe, on either side. There's a reason they're the fringe.
  21. I almost checked off that Pineapple & Cottage Cheese one, but I've never specifically had that combo. Peaches and cottage cheese - yes, I eat that all the time.
