  1. To my knowledge, neither Frank nor Carl gave false reports to the police in connection to motorcycle accidents. So no, different situation.
  2. Sean Callahan tweeted yesterday that about 46,000 tickets have been sold. Add another 4k-5k between now and gametime, and another 5k or so walk-up purchases, and we're looking at about 55k right there. I also got to thinking - while kids taking the drug-free pledge at halftime need a ticket, their tickets are free. So maybe those kids aren't counted in the 46,000 or so tickets already sold?
  3. Here's some more of Ms. Dorrell. Turns out Bobby just hired her in March to be the "student-athlete development coordinator." Nice job for your mistress, Bobby.
  4. Yup! Just think, this coulda been our coach! Wrong Arkansas coach.
  5. I don't think we've finalized anything except that we're going to Brewsky's in the Haymarket. I'm thinking 6ish, get some food, some pitchers, and some tables.
  6. Your life sucks. Seriously. I have some nice shirts/ties. Sometimes I like them. But usually I like the idea of wearing them far more than I like wearing them. The trick is to buy shirts that are one neck size too big, so no matter what, your tie doesn't choke you. So if you have a 19" neck, but a 20" shirt.
  7. It's only discouraging if he's 2011 Sean Fisher. If he can meet the potential coaches saw in him when he was recruited, that's swell. Now, if he can't meet that potential, and he's still playing with the 1's, then we have problems. Systemic problems.
  8. Matt Davison ‏ @Matt_Davison These audio tapes of Gregg Williams are not shocking to me. He was HC when I was with Bills. Heard this sort of thing every day.
  9. I hope you don't button it to the top Knowing knapp he probably pops the collar. You say that like it's a bad thing.
  10. Nebraska has no shortage of cash right now. That's pretty easy to say.
  11. Granted, it's nine days away and a lot can change, but long-term forecasts say low 70s and sunny. Just about perfect for a Spring Game.
  12. Have you seen the way most men dress? Most of us don't care one whit what we look like, as long as it doesn't look stupid. I'm really tired of polo shirts. I wear polos pretty much every day.
  13. If Spring Game ticket sales are any barometer of fan interest, 2012 could be trending downward. I called the ticket office this morning to find out how many tickets had been sold for the Spring Game. Their best estimate was the low 40,000s. To put that in perspective, we sold 40k tickets in the first day of sales in 2010, and 55k as of April 11th last year. Our final attendance numbers in 2009 were 77,670, in 2010 we had 77,936, while we ended up with 66,784 in 2011. We won our bowl games in 2008 and 2009, but lost badly in 2010 and last year. With fewer than ten days left before the 2012 Spring Game, will we see yet another drop in attendance? And if so, why? Are fans losing enthusiasm? After two straight seasons with disappointing conclusions, including two ugly bowl game losses, it seems possible the momentum is ebbing from the Cornhuskers. Or it could be that the announcement that the BTN will be televising the game for the first time ever could be a factor.
  14. Tim Smiles. Yeah, definitely. Plus he kinda reminds me of Smalls from The Sandlot for some reason. Smalls/Miles/Smiles. Weird correlation, I know.
  15. I'm missing something. Where was it established that Smiles is focusing on in-state kids? EDIT - yeah, I'm making it official. Tim Miles smiles so much I'm calling him Smiles from now on. FIRST!
  16. Found this by accident today. It seems to fit the general feeling that most of us have about religious discussions, no matter which side of the fence we're on. This is supposed to be a funny/ironical post, so if you're offended, my apologies...
  17. Some interesting stories about Sean Fisher today. Looks like he'll be applying for a Medical at the end of the season. He showed promise as a Freshman, but then suffered that bad break in 2010 and played gimpy last year. Dan Hoppen from HuskerOnline tweeted: Dan Hoppen ‏ @danhoppen Talked to Sean Fisher, who said he played all last season with plates in his leg stemming from broken leg two years ago. They're out now. Hoppen also said Fisher hasn't made a final decision on whether he wants to apply for a sixth year or not yet.
  18. Yeah, that'll be pretty weird for Carl. And a bit painful and humiliating. I hope little brother puts the hurt on Carl's Owls. I'm betting Bo has mercy on Carl. I doubt we win by more than 3 TDs. 31-10 or something like that, with the backup QB FINALLY getting some reps.
  19. Have you seen the way most men dress? Most of us don't care one whit what we look like, as long as it doesn't look stupid.
  20. I would be behind this 1,000%. After nearly losing my wife, suffering through it again with my sister-in-law a couple of years ago and then losing my mother to cancer last year, I say let's do this. It will NEVER happen. But it's one hell of a worthy cause. F cancer.
  21. We're just over a week away from the first HuskerBoard get-together. Roll call in the Bar Crawl thread in the Big Red Lounge.
