  1. Those are the fumbles I remember that AA lost. But as the Comish said I do recall quite a few muffs/mishandles in the return game(especially punts) that led to missed return opportunities. I'd chalk a lot of those up to Freshmen nerves. Those will go away as the game slows down for him.
  2. Tyler Wullenwaber is so fast he can cook a five-minute egg in three minutes. Tyler Wullenwaber is so fast he once got a speeding ticket on O Street. He was walking. Tyler Wullenwaber is so fast The Flash told him to "hang on a minute" when they were out for a jog.
  3. "Abdullah eager to make a sophomore jump." Anyone else disappointed that the article didn't name the Sophomore Abdullah wants to make jump? Or why he wants to make anyone jump at all? This is just shoddy reporting.
  4. I think the Broncos are insane. Paying a guy $19 mil a year for five years after three neck surgeries in two years? That is just madness. I'm no Broncos fan, but I hope they aren't paying that kind of money for Manning. I like Manning, but there is no way that contract is justified after his surgeries.
  5. I gotta correct myself. Connie said, and I knew this but spaced it, that although we had a dozen girls on the roster this year, only ten played meaningful minutes all year. That means that 60% of our roster were Freshmen or Redshirt Freshmen, playing their first D1 seasons. My God. Look out in a year or so, Big Ten. Don't say we didn't warn you.
  6. If I'm Tim Tebow, I see that I'm sitting on a team whose skills match my skills - strong defense, competent offensive line, the ability to play a wildly different style of football than the NFL is typically branded on, and I can succeed if given the chance (and I get a bit lucky). Yeah, my team just acquired a huge talent in Peyton Manning, sure, but he's one hit away from never playing another snap. Heck, he's one swipe to the head away from that. If I'm Tim Tebow, I'm thinking I have a legit shot at starting half the season this year, and maybe more. Call me a skeptic, but I don't know that Manning is exactly whole, or ever will be again.
  7. That's the kind of girl who probably has a great story about band camp.
  8. I'm pretty bummed about the girls losing, but I can't help but think we went further than we should have this year. Conference championship game, NCAA #6 seed - that's pretty damned good for a team half of which is made up of girls playing their first D1 season. The future is very bright. No matter how disappointing this is.
  9. That is a damned fine post, Crewe. Took the words right out of my mouth. Volleyball lost Shelby Winkelmann and Taylor Simpson this year, as well as the seniors, so they should have a larger recruiting class. Too bad about Winkelmann. That girl is a HELL of an athlete.
  10. We graduated Kaitlyn Burke and Harleen Siddu off this team. Layne Reeves was also part of this class and was honored on Senior Day, but I don't know if her scholly counted against the team this year. I don't think it did. That would give us at least two scholarships to offer in this year's class, perhaps three if Reeves' scholly becomes available.
  11. This is a weird posting interface. And if you're using a mobile device I think it gets even weirder. Maud - they're on break right now. No new practice news for another week.
  12. FYI, you really don't need a comma here (see the giant comma). Also, you misspelled "corresponding." Anyway. I'll let you guys get back to your grammar battle.
  13. This is reminding me a lot of the KSU volleyball match in the second round of the NCAAs this season.
  14. It was pretty clear. The first runner shouldn't have been sent, the second should have.
  15. What were the situations in these cases? Maybe Im just reading your sentence wrong but it sounds like runner on 2nd and the batter hit a double? And the guy on second got thrown at at home? I believe both were runners on first and second, one out. The first one did hang in the wind for a second and there was some question whether it would be caught or not. The second was clearly not going to be caught, and especially when it got bumbled and rolled to the fence, the runner on 2nd should have been sent home.
  16. I'm already booked for an appearance next Saturday and another on April 8th! The pre-game huddle and the Umps & Catcher just after the National Anthem. Some in-game action:
  17. Sitting on the 3rd base line with that wind in our face all day pretty much sucked. Lots of opportunities to win today. Missed too many. Bolt cost us some runs. Forget which inning it was, but he sent the runner from second on a double to the right field gap, only to get the runner cut down at the plate. Clearly shouldn't have sent the runner, but he did. Fast-forward to the 8th and a nearly identical play, but Bolt held the runners even though the ball made it to the wall. Would have scored one easily, possibly both. Not griping at Bolt. He's learning. I have some pictures I'll post in a little bit.
  18. I sometimes find it funny how little the guys on the team actually know about the team's history, the fans, etc. They're athletes, not fans, so some of them don't get why that would be a big deal to people.
  19. Spitsnogle came in throwing heaters in the top of the 9th. LA Tech got a couple of runs, but we won, 11-4. Since getting shut out in the third game of the Cal series, we've won five straight, by an average score of 13-3. Tomorrow we're going to our first game of the year. Here's hoping for the sweep.
  20. Some pics from this morning. If this one looks a little funny, it's actually two pictures spliced together. On the first the cranes/sky were fine but the structure was too dark. On the second, the structure was visible but the cranes/sky were washed out.
  21. For the third straight game, when the Huskers have led late, they do not let up, but instead step on the neck of their opponent. Farmer blasts a two-out, three-run homer to make it 10-2 Huskers.
  22. Bottom of the 8th, 7-2 Huskers, man on 2nd with no outs. Bryan Peters at bat. Edit - Pritchard with a single. Sanguinetti up with runners at the corners, one out.
  23. Currently 2-1 Good Guys, bottom of the 4th. Darby Scheffert led off with a triple single. Man on 3rd, nobody out. Darby up. Oops. Fixed. EDIT - I got that all screwed up. Scheffert led off with a single to third. Darby followed with a single. Men on first and third, nobody out.
