  1. You've already been seconded. I can't hold you down.
  2. Players have received a mass text requesting that they don't talk about Sanders' resignation. I'm sure that'll keep a lid on leaks. Hopefully they also texted coach Wilson from Indiana.
  3. So you're saying that those recruits with an eye for interior design will be drawn to Oregon? That's just FABulous! Nothing says "strength" more than a house built of glass. Kudos, Ducks.
  4. They mentioned on 1620 that Sanders didn't go on the last visit to see Jackson which was thought to be odd at the time. I'll bet that was an awkward visit if they talked about why he wasn't there.
  5. This sucks. I liked Coach Sanders. He was my favorite coach from Football 101, without question.
  6. So you're saying that those recruits with an eye for interior design will be drawn to Oregon? That's just FABulous!
  7. Now we'll find out how candid we were with recruits on approaching staff changes. Sanders was the lead recruiter for Charles Jackson.
  8. The interesting thing about that article is that there are no quotes of Delany saying the Big 10 wants to expand south. It seems to extrapolate from Delany's broad statements about the Big 10 being aware of population shifts to the south, but it doesn't specifically say - and I've googled a bit and can't find this - that Delany wants to actually acquire a southern school. Concomitant to those statements about southern expansion is a direct quote from Delany stating the Big 10 doesn't want a championship game. I'm thinking maybe Mr. Delany was talking out of his posterior a bit. These articles are all dated 25 days prior to Nebraska joining the Big 10. Maybe they're just to throw people off the trail of what the Big 10 was really doing.
  9. Looks like GHOST and canttakeitanymore need seconds. Anyone?
  10. I think it's going to be a tough sell when she hasn't even visited HuskerBoard in 15 months.
  11. Here's what Pelini said in that exchange: OWH Article link I hope it's fair enough. Bo has a way of parsing words to the press - and hence, to us - that doesn't always convey the full truth of the matter. The question is, do any of the recruits who just signed feel that they've been given full disclosure, or full enough disclosure that the decision they made was the correct one? The way Bo has dealt out information in the past makes this a very pertinent question.
  12. I wouldn't put the onus on Watson. He's known the door was open to leave for two years now. He isn't the one I'd be most concerned about not being truthful with recruits.
  13. The timing is awful, especially if Scott Frost is coming over. I have several Duck Fan buddies, and they're up in arms over the rumors in Eugene that Frosty is headed back to Lincoln. They are (justifiably so) upset that Frost had a hand in the recruiting of several players, only to bolt afterwards. They're upset that players may reconsider their choices to Oregon (which they can't after the LOI is signed, but whatever). Bottom line is, they're pissed we may come "steal" Frost from them. I really, really hope we were up-front with all of our recruits about what was going on. If not, it looks bad for us.
  14. The difference being that, because Bo is a public employee employing other public employees, simply not talking about it forever is not an option.
  15. Here's an article from last May about the AAU and Big 10 expansion: So maybe AAU membership isn't strictly required, but in the case of Oklahoma, I get the impression it's an insurmountable barrier.
  16. Think about this from the media's perspective. Bo hasn't spoken to them since the Holiday Bowl. Five weeks later, with rumors swirling, and an outright declaration of coaching changes being made by another coach in the press, do you really think they should not have addressed the topic? Especially when it's possible - even likely - that Bo won't speak to them again until the Spring Game ten weeks away. If they didn't ask those questions they may as well have hung up their journalist's credentials and gotten another job.
  17. I don't think Mangino was a genius. He made a decent team out of a relatively crappy bottom-dweller at Kansas, and that takes some decent coaching. I have a present for you.
  18. The First Amendment disagrees with you. Freedom of the press is a right, guaranteed by the Constitution. The press are under zero obligation to respect the privacy of public issues. When the questions were asked it was no longer a private matter - the cat had been let out of the bag in the Indiana presser by Wilson. The reporters asked pertinent, respectful questions. All the crying about these questions beggars belief. I don't "fail to realize" anything about this situation. I know full well what the rights, privileges and expectations of the press are. Bo and his assistants are public figures, and their salaries are paid by taxpayers - that's why they're public information, and announced every year. Sure, they're real people, but when they take a public position like they've done, they give up certain levels of privacy. Goes with the territory. Their in lies the crux of the problem. If "certain levels" are to be observed who sets them? As a Mod here you are in a position of power yourself. Should we demand to know certain aspects of your life because it goes with the territory? Granted the two situations aren't realistically comparable, but you get my drift. The constitution also says we have the right to bear arms but that was back when it took 2 minutes to load a musket. I think if the forefathers were here now there would be provisions. But that's an argument for another time. Sounds like wiki-leaks may have a job opening soon. Maybe you should send your resume. You don't think I'm more in the "public eye" than regular members, being a Mod? Most definitely I am, and most definitely the things I say and do are under far greater scrutiny than normal members. I knew that when I accepted the position, and I take my slings and arrows as they come. Bo needs to learn to do the same, and adapt when situations evolve out of his control. That's the bottom line.
  19. The story is being picked up outside the sphere of Husker football: Read more
  20. Didn't Papuchis come here with Bo from LSU? LSU must have seen something in him. Id say LSU is a better program than Ohio, wouldn't you? Why don't you wait until the guy fails before cracking on his hire - or potential hire. Unless you think Bo is an idiot, you've got to think he'd hire a qualified guy.
  21. This is a bit like saying Frost has a lot to do with Chip Kelly's offense at Oregon. Okay, maybe more than a bit, but I think Mitch is speculating completely on Beck's title as passing game coordinator. It was still Mangino's show. Even a guy with the OC title there, you would've said, "yeah, but it was Mangino's show." I'm going to say these moves are risky and cause for concern, /especially/ when improvement or solving the problems we have, does not seem to be the impetus for them. Where do you get the info to counter Sherman's claim about Beck's involvement with Mangino's offense? I don't know anything either way, so any info you could give would be helpful. I'd say solving our offensive problems are entirely the impetus of Watson/Gilmore's departures - if those happen. Losing Sanders would have to be disciplinary in nature since he had one of, if not THE best secondaries in the nation last year, but when our offense fails to score in critical games, replacing offensive personnel is nigh on inevitable.
