  1. If you have an issue with how the Mods do their jobs, I invite you to present your case to an Admin either via PM or by emailing them at Admin at huskerboard dot com. This thread has now run its course. Thanks for your continued cooperation with the board rules.
  2. Agree 100%. It's very reactionary, and it reacts to hysteria. In the meantime, I'm almost through the first quarter watching the game, and I just saw a play that very much resembles Martin's hit against OSU. With about 2:40 to go in the first quarter Gabbert scrambles from pressure and ends up with that long run that was called back due to a facemask on Wes Kemp. On the pursuit Moore was focusing on Gabbert and got absolutely decleated by a Missouri player. Couldn't catch his number, but Moore was as "defenseless" as Andrew Hudson was on that play, and was very clearly targeted by the Missouri player. Again, Mr. Beebe - your move.
  3. I'm finally getting a moment to sit down and watch the game, and I'll tell you this: If Beebe doesn't suspend Andrew Gachkar for CLEARLY: 1) Targeting a defenseless player, and 2) Helmet-to-helmet hit then this is a sham league and a sham season, and you should buy into the conspiracy theories wholeheartedly. The entire reason these helmet-to-helmet hits were put on the big stage was DBs crashing into WRs as they caught the ball. On Nebraska's fourth play from scrimmage Martinez hits Niles for a 21 yard gain, and Gachkar launches himself into Paul as he's catching the ball and very clearly helmets collide. It's almost the first parts of their bodies that touch. If you have the game recorded, go watch and see what I'm talking about. It is not ambiguous. After the play Niles goes to the sideline tapping his head. Coincidentally, the announcers make zero mention of this hit. Not even a "maybe." Your move, Mr. Beebe.
  4. Maybe you should step down from your mod power-trip and stop editing people's posts. If you think about it, accusing me of making a personal attack, after saying that you aren't sure what's going on in the thread, is a personal attack, is it not? I guess this will get edited too as it is a bit of an attack. My mistake. I took you for a reasonable person who wouldn't mind being gently reminded in a friendly way that calling someone a "dick" isn't allowed by the rules. I can see that I was wrong to have attempted to be friendly about this. Thank you for showing me the error of my ways. I have now amended my earlier stance, and adjusted your warning level. Any future attempts at continuing this discussion will result in further upward modification of your warning level.
  5. As a friendly reminder, a personal attack is something that goes after the person, not the post. Let's remember to keep the discussion about football. Thanks.
  6. Agreed on his mechanics, but there isn't anything in his game that can't be polished up for the pros pretty easily. I'll be surprised if he isn't playing on Sundays.
  7. It stands for "Mythical" because it's not a true championship. You can't have a real championships based on opinions of which team is better. Without a tournament of some kind, it's all just guesswork. Another reason some use "mythical" is that several teams (Notre Dame, Michigan, Minnesota, etc) count "championships" from back in the dark ages of college football when there was no universally accepted body or group that handed out titles. Michigan claims eight national championships prior to World War II when there was no universally accepted method of determining who was champion. With such diverse claims to the title - not to mention their esoteric nature - it's hard to say who was or wasn't "the champ." Hence mythical.
  8. How do they list these? It's not alphabetical and it's not by school. It almost looks like they rank them in order of their preference.
  9. Yep, I've been saying this for a while now. We play(ed) Missouri every year, and while OSU and others have a similar offense and some are better, Missouri's was the single greatest threat to our defense because of the frequency with which we play(ed). I would have to say that this is "Mission Accomplished." Bo went 2-1 against this offense, largely shutting them down twice.
  10. No kidding. The dude is "shock jock" writer for a St. Louis newspaper and didn't even attend Mizzou. Hell, he's from Maryland. LOL!!! Don't think Bernie is representative of the Tiger Nation? Check out the Tigerboard. It's full of BM's. Just like you two. Message Board Smack!!! Actually, what you quoted was a personal attack. It's been noted, and dealt with. Personal attacks are against board rules. Period.
  11. That is exactly his point. You're telling everyone here to stop griping about calls that don't go our way, when you live in that same glass house. You seem to have no point in your posts anymore, you're just being contrary to whatever the Husker fans post. If that's all you have to do... well, we have rules about that.
  12. I know Sagarin's rankings are computer-based, but this is a bit comical. He has us ranked fifth - behind #4 Missouri. Missouri gets props for playing us, even though we beat them. We are cursed by giving away the win to Texas, who keeps losing to everyone else. Ugh.
  13. Thanks for the kind words, Eyeoftiger and Tora! I'd mention Fro but he's already one of us.
  14. If you want some more excellent pics of the game, I highly recommend checking out the Omaha World Herald's online pics after every game. Their photographers take some brilliant shots, they're huge, and they're beautiful. I am a BIG fan of their photographers. LINK
  15. Yep. Our Captains screwed up and used the wrong verbiage when we won the toss, and Missouri capitalized on our wording error, and we had to kick off to start both halves. There are some pretty great quotes from Bo about that in his presser after the game. He even cracked jokes about it, but at the time, he was pretty unhappy. This may be an example of why having rotating team captains isn't always a great idea. It's rare, but it can bite you in the butt sometimes.
  16. The Goal-Line stand was a thing of beauty, and the crowd was definitely rocking. I have a roaring headache this AM and my ears are still ringing. I was in the North end zone with my dad and we were screaming the whole time, but at one point in the second half he said he had to sit down. I told him I was going to keep yelling and he replied something along the lines of, "It's still at timeout" (this was just before a TV timeout ended). I called dad a Blue Hair. I don't think he got the joke.
  17. What exactly do you want? Do you want every BS call that went against Nebraska to simply be overlooked because we beat Missouri's ass? You are entirely unrealistic here. I want you to recognize that there is no conspiracy. If we both took the time to put together a tape of all the BS calls we felt went against our teams this year, they would not be substantially different. Bad calls happen all the time. The suspension was unexpected, yes, but that had more to do with the NFL, in my opinion. And, I would be willing to bet we see another suspension this year. Right, because Missouri Fan would never complain that there was a Big XII conspiracy against them, like in the allotment of bowl bids, right? You can be the pot or the kettle. Whichever you choose doesn't matter, because you're just as guilty as the rest.
  18. What exactly do you want? Do you want every BS call that went against Nebraska to simply be overlooked because we beat Missouri's ass? You are entirely unrealistic here.
  19. no kidding...and he didnt do much to inspire confidence on his first play. Whazzabuzza? West nearly had a pick-six. He JUST missed that ball, and the result of the play wasn't that damaging to us. In general I'm concerned when West is in there, but he made a great play on the ball there and it was the right thing to do. I'll bet he missed that INT by less than two inches.
  20. There was no personal foul helmet-to-helmet. What facemask are you talking about? Because for every missed facemask you want to talk about, I'll tell you another that wasn't called on Missouri.
  21. This Missouri fan wouldn't. Trust me, there are plenty of "officials out to get us" threads on our board, even without the spectre of leaving the conference. Again, you're dreaming. Of course you would; you're here right now talking about facemasks and PI calls that weren't made. If you're griping about this now, it's clear you'd be ramping those gripes up even more with the pattern of calls Nebraska has put up with this season. Imagine playing this game without Aldon Smith because the Big XII just happened to suspend him before this game, for a hit that is commonly made every week in college football. Tell me that happens and you, personally, are not thinking there's something up with the situation. You're completely inobjective if you think you wouldn't be talking about that on a Tiger message board.
  22. The one and only problem I have with Lee's play is that third-down call. Yes, he made a brilliant pass to Reed, who made a brilliant catch on the sidelines. What I saw was that Zac could have easily ran for the first down (I think it was 3rd-and-3, right?). He had a ton of open field in front of him and could have picked it up with his feet, but he threw it instead. It was a pinpoint throw on the run to a covered receiver, and he pulled it off with tremendous skill and poise. But next time RUN THE BALL, Zac! I about had a coronary on that play.
  23. No, we're justifiably pissed at a consistent pattern of rulings against our team. The fact that we annihilated Missouri doesn't change the fact that it's an uneven playing field regarding penalties and official's rulings. You're dreaming if you think Missouri Fan wouldn't be reacting the same way. Wake up.
  24. I was at the game, and there was only one PI call that should have gone against us that wasn't called, and it wasn't anywhere near the endzone.
  25. There were bad calls both ways. I can think of a serious face mask on Gabbert and at least a couple of PI calls that were missed. There is no conspiracy, missed calls are part of the game. Right. Tell us that after your conference makes precedent-setting rulings against your players for plays that happen every week. Tell us that after your conference exhibits a consistent pattern of officiating "close calls" that go against your team, every time. I don't expect you to be objective, but you'll understand if, after witnessing several such calls each game against our team, we give short shrift to your "it's all equal" mantra. We have eyes, and we know what's going on. If Missouri is ever in a position to leave this conference and the conference appears likely to remain as a body, you'll know what we're talking about. Until then, keep living the dream.
